How long was it between arriving at hospital and giving birth for you?

I'm wondering if we were in the hospital for a typical amount of time. I arrived at 12.20am (6cm dilated) and gave birth at 10.37am, so it was 10 hrs from arrival until birth (first baby). How long was it for you? And then how long were subsequent births?

0 minutes, I have never managed to give birth in a hospital. I would think being in hospital for 10 hours would be quite a long time, but I suspect the thread title will attract two extremes like mine so you might not end up with an average.

congratulations on your baby though!

72 hours ECS

First time - 9 hours. Was 2cm when I arrived at around 8am with regular pains. DS1 was born at 5:33 that afternoon.

Second time - 5 days 🙃 early delivery at 37 weeks due to being estimated small. Failed induction when led to emergency section.

difficultspaghetti · 13/09/2023 18:39

Woke up at 9 to my water breaking, got there at 10:50 and she was out at 13:53. It was a very speedy birth as I was already 8cm getting there!

jolaylasofia · 13/09/2023 18:45

between 1 hours and 30 minutes for all 3 of them

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/09/2023 18:48

With ds1, I arrived at around midnight on Thursday night/Friday morning, gave birth at 12.34pm on Saturday, and was finally discharged the following Saturday - we had to stay in because ds1 had jaundice and needed phototherapy.

I had ds2 and ds3 at home.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 13/09/2023 18:49

First arrived on Thursday evening around 7pm with preeclampsia. Induced Friday afternoon. Induced again Saturday morning around 8.30am, gave birth at 9.06am same day.

Second arrived Wednesday evening around 9pm at 29+3. Doctor didn’t see me until about midnight due to getting pulled into emergency. Gave birth 7am Thursday at 29+4.

mummyh2016 · 13/09/2023 18:53

Approximately 4 hours ECS

McConkeysPlate · 13/09/2023 19:06

My last one was about 3 minutes 😬

Ballgateblazer · 13/09/2023 19:08

Dc1 4 hours.
Dt was admitted 7 days before as I was in slow labour with a high risk twin pregnancy.

Saveourholiday9 · 13/09/2023 19:14

1st- 8 hours
2nd- 5 hours
3rd- 1 or 2 minutes! In through A&e where I had them in a cubicle as no time to get up to maternity! Partner was still getting car parked and baby was born!

3rd labour felt so different, all in my pelvis, so I stayed at home too long uhming and ahring whether this was it.

INeedAName1 · 13/09/2023 19:22

First was 57 hours in total, about 45 hours with almost continuous contractions.

Second was a planned c section as the first experience was so traumatic.

YouJustDoYou · 13/09/2023 19:23

3 days. Absolute fucking nightmare. Planned c-sections after that = bliss.

turtle8919 · 13/09/2023 19:23

First, induced so looonnng! Like 24 hours. 2nd- 1st really mild contraction 8am, arrived at hospital 7cm already and he was born at 11.17am so just over 3 hours start to finish. I think it woulda been earlier but I was holding back the push as scared of the sting I'd been warned about haha! (1st was emergency c section)

lavagal · 13/09/2023 19:23
