How long was it between arriving at hospital and giving birth for you?

I'm wondering if we were in the hospital for a typical amount of time. I arrived at 12.20am (6cm dilated) and gave birth at 10.37am, so it was 10 hrs from arrival until birth (first baby). How long was it for you? And then how long were subsequent births?

First was five hours. Second was one hour but I was told I wasn’t in labour when I arrived and I could go home. I refused. Dread to think how quick a third would be!

First was 18 hours from arrival to hospital to birth (36 hours of labour in total) second was 15 mins from arrival to birth (total of 2.5 hours!)

DC1 - 21 hours
DC2 - 20 minutes
DC3 - 2 hours

Will totally skew it for you...

1st baby - 2 days
2nd baby - 1 week
3rd baby - 7 weeks

First time: 14 hours
Second time: 20 mins, DH didn’t even get the parking ticket on the car

45 minutes-and he was 10lb8. I am still telling this story 22 years later!

5 hours, got there at 5.30 am and he was born 10.43 am

DS1 about 45 minutes
DS2 two days trying to stop labour. Didn’t work

Two hours and 30 mins. The two hours was all pushing 🙄

Both times was about 3 hours for me IIRC (long time ago now).

First was 22 hours, second was 6 hours. Both times had waters broken at hospital

Dc6 10 mins... Still fully clothed and shoed! Very smugly told mw Told You So when she said I had ages.

With my first I arrived at around noon and they were born 3.45pm
2nd I was induced at 830am and born 5.30pm

First was 4 hours. Second 4.5 hours but included induction. I was in the actual delivery room for 45 mins. I wish I'd had longer second time around as DP was only allowed in when I was in the delivery room and I really needed his support before that (it was during Covid so they didn't let him into the induction suite).

DS1 8.5 hours
DS2 24 hours (induced)

My first was 3 hours. But I think that was really quick. It was a bank holiday and we got stuck in traffic 🤣 My other two ( twins ) don't count as they were elcs.

Arrived 9am Saturday. Gave birth 11pm Sunday. I will never do it again.

DC1 -about 36 hours
DC2- about 90 minutes
DC3 -about 40 minutes

Haha this happened when I was born apparently. Elder sibling took hours and hours so my dad dropped mum in and went out to car to smoke a cigarette and missed it 🤣

It's a bit of a blur but I think about 1 hr 20 mins.

DC1 probably about 1 hour? Total labour was 2 hours 45 - as soon as contractions started they were 2 mins apart and intense so we basically went straight there. I was made to stand in the waiting room for 45 mins until they finally examined me, saw the baby’s head, shoved me into a wheelchair and managed to get me into a pool as I started pushing!

DC2 my waters broke while I was there for a check up so they admitted me for observations in case labour didn’t start as I was GBS+. It did start about 12 hours later and baby was born 1.5 hours after that.

1st- 12 hours
2nd- 90 minutes
3rd- 45 minutes

Baby no.1- 3 hours between arriving at hospital and delivering.

baby no.2- 4.5 hours between arriving at hospital and delivering (issues with babies heart rate and they broke my waters, I went from 6cm to holding him within 4 minutes of water being broken).

baby no.3- long story but arrived for planned induction and there were no beds. Ended up being a 20 minute labour from first contraction to holding her- never actually got a chance to be induced and gave birth while still waiting for a bed!

baby no.4- 2.5 hours from arriving at hospital to delivering.

baby no.5- About 45 minutes. Only spent 10 minutes in the actual delivery room before giving birth.

First time - 24h
Second time - 9h
Third - was already in hospital and had been for 3 weeks! But from gel for induction to birth was 12h.

First was induced so doesn't really count!

Second got there at 7pm, she was born at 9pm. I was 10cm when we arrived but she was back to back so required a lot of pushing which slowed things down.

Third got there at 5am, she was born at 5.20am.
