How long was it between arriving at hospital and giving birth for you?

I'm wondering if we were in the hospital for a typical amount of time. I arrived at 12.20am (6cm dilated) and gave birth at 10.37am, so it was 10 hrs from arrival until birth (first baby). How long was it for you? And then how long were subsequent births?

Dd 14 mins

DC1 - arrived before Labour started because waters had broken. Was probably about 15 hours.

DC2 was in danger of being born in the car park. Was born 10 mins after arrival

DS1, I went in on Weds evening. Wasn't dilated enough so went home. I think I went back Thursday morning. The car broke down and we walked. They wanted to send me home again until they realised we'd walked in. He was born Saturday lunchtime.

DS2 I was there for less than an hour. (Labour was less than 2 hours total). My mum thought she was going to end up playing midwife in my lounge.

1st one 20 mins
2nd one -10 mins in the car park
3rd one -20 mins in a layby

Thank God I didn't have a fourth.

First child 21 hours. Second child 41 minutes. They barely had time to fill the birthing pool!

1st - 17 hours but that included a routine check up that turned into an unplanned induction

2nd - was precisely 3 and a quarter hours. I remember 05.05 being my checked in time and she was born at 08.20.

DC2: 20 minutes.

First one I found out I was in early labour at a reduced movements check up and was sent home. Back two days later for another check up and still in early labour. Back that evening because it bloody hurt and sent home as only 4cm. Back the next morning and admitted as 5cm. He finally arrived the next morning after a mere 14 or so hours of transition and pushing.

Second one I was 10cm before I was even checked and he was out under an hour after we arrived with minimal fuss and pain. He's my favourite 😂

DC1 - 1hr
DC2 - 10mins

20 mins, I arrived already needing to push having been sent home “not in labour” 3 hours previously.

I assumed I must be dying if the pains weren’t labour and finally called them back when I realised that the overwhelming need to push was.

17 minutes for the 4th

1st and 3rd were born at home, 2nd was an ELCS.

Dc1 5 hours
Dc2 3 or 4 hours

First baby - about 13 hours
Second baby - about 50 minutes

Days, 9 I think.

DC1 - 7 hours
DC2 - 2.5 hours

Both born in birth centre without intervention (I consider myself to be very lucky)

First, maybe an hour. Was only a 4 hr labour though. Next two born at home as I knew I wouldn't actually make it hospital.

Arrived between 9 and 10pm on Thursday. Had him at 8:25pm on Friday.

So, about 23 hours.

First: at hospital around 8.15am, had baby at 10.46am.

Second: at hospital around 9pm, had baby at 9.30pm.

With the first one I got there and they gave me water injections so I didn’t feel much pain which was lovely.

With the second it was too late for me to be given anything, so I felt EVERYTHING and now never again thank you please 😅

DS1 - 3 days

DS2 - 1 hour (despite being sent home around 3/4 hours before that and being made to feel like an absolute idiot and time waster for having the audacity to even think I might be in labour)

First - 3 hours

2nd - does the car park class as part of the hospital?

1st: about 8 hours. Went to hospital because waters broke, but wasn't having any contractions. Baby arrived about 6 hours after first contractions.

2nd: home birth (planned). Baby arrived about 1hr after the midwife did.

1st - about 90 mins (labour was about 2 hrs and I went straight in).

2nd - planned homebirth, but very quick and he arrived way before the midwife who'd been called as soon as my waters went (15 min labour).

Dc 2 - around 5 hours
Dc 3 - within minutes
