Just curious really. Have 3 weeks to go til EDD but would be more than happy to go into labour today!
Most people said 1st time mums are usually late so just wanted to see if this was true!

PPS (37 weeks today!) XX

One week early, 15 hours from contractions starting. Laboured at home for first few hours, then at midwife unit. Got to 10 cm dilated without waters breaking so midwife popped them ready for second stage. Second stage was loooooooooong.... 2 and a half hours - but can honestly say second stage was the only bad part. I'd do first stage again tomorrow, no probs. (Dh might say differently tho!)

jumpyjan · 14/10/2007 18:45

I was 1 day over due, proper labour went on for 22 hours but it actually started on the Wednesday and DD arrived on the Sunday so went on a bit.

Good luck - hope yours is shorter than mine!

pigletmaker · 14/10/2007 18:51

10 days early.
Waters broke.
Contractions started 4 hrs later.
Baby born 12 hrs after that.

ruddynorah · 14/10/2007 18:53

8 days over EDD, 27 hour labour, back to back.

pelvicflawed · 14/10/2007 18:59

14 days late - induced - labour was about 12hrs from when I went on the drip thing - but they had already been tring to get me going for 24 hrs so had had mild(thats what they called it!) contractions for day that went nowhere.

onelittlelion · 14/10/2007 19:00

6 days late...long pre labour 2 days getting nowhere then went in 9cm dilated and ds was born 8 hrs later with gas and air...All seemed to take forever but of course was all worth it! Good luck!

naturelover · 14/10/2007 22:36

Four days overdue, labour was 17 hours from first contraction to birth, but I was able to talk/walk/eat through contractions until 9 hours before birth, so not sure if I should count from then.

Philomytha · 15/10/2007 14:19

Went into labour on my due date, baby born two days later. Early labour lasted two days, active labour about 14 hours.

flowerybeanbag · 15/10/2007 14:21

I went into early labour on the Tuesday, not technically in active labour until being induced on Saturday night (although having v regular and painful contractions from Thursday am), DS was born on Sunday which was his due date.

abidabidoo · 15/10/2007 14:23

Best of luck!

12 days early.
Waters broke midnight. Contractions started straight away. Water birth at 10.52 a.m.

Getting goosebumps thinking about it now, a fantastic experience! (tho' it did hurt!

MissusH · 15/10/2007 14:23

1 week early, went into labour naturally, 7 hrs from 1st contraction to delivery...

Arrived at hospital at 8cm dilated...

Meeely2 · 15/10/2007 14:24

11 weeks early, 40 mins active labour (sorry now help, i'm just showing off!)

phlossie · 15/10/2007 14:27

I was induced at 9 days over because baby had no fluid around him. Nothing happened - not even a contraction - until 6pm on day 10, then ds was born in a bit of a hurry. 4cm to birth was 1hr 45mins!
Good luck!

gemdangracie · 15/10/2007 14:29

2 weeks early 4 and half hour labour from start to finish!! needed ventouse and episiotomy though!!

zubb · 15/10/2007 14:30

3 days early, 2 and a half hour labour.

Niecie · 15/10/2007 14:31

My waters broke the day before due date, about 3pm. Went to the hospital for a check up to make sure I got it right but got sent home (about 6pm) as nothing was happening.

Spent the evening building the cot as it only arrived 3 days before. Started to feel a bit achy at 11pm. Pain built up until properly contracting by about 3am on the due date but not too bad. Back to the hospital by 11am. Ready to push by 5pm and DS1 was born at 9.01pm on his due date.

claireybee · 15/10/2007 16:29

Day before due date. Woke up at 5.45 am, went for wee, got back in bed thinking "not another day", heard a pop and a tinkle then felt waters gush out. Contractions started at 6am. Active labour and dd was born at 12.40 pm (so total just under 7 hours).

Second stage was relatively long compared to first stage.

Had been acting like a crazy person the previous day as was determined to get her out so not sure if this had anything to do with it or if it would have happened that day anyway.

Crazy person behaviour included:
Going for a 3 mile walk without taking phone (hoping sods law would kick in!)
Running up 2 flights of stairs then jumping down them 2 at a time
Bouncing really hard on exercise ball (both with the aim of exerting lots of pressure on cervix)
Changing bedsheets (again working on sods law principle)

DD was a very cross baby as a newborn though so I won't be doing the same again just in case that had anything to do with it (poor thing probably had a headache after all that)

Princesspowersparkle · 15/10/2007 19:43

Wow- just realised I started this thread- can't believe its still going!
I can add my experience now!

Due on 20th July
Waters broke on 16th. Nothing happened. Next day went in to be induced. Had 2 pessaries and nothing happened. Weds went on the drip to get things started. Laboured overnight and finally gave birth on the afternoon of the 19th! Was long and drawn out but only officially in labour for 18 hours!
