Just curious really. Have 3 weeks to go til EDD but would be more than happy to go into labour today!
Most people said 1st time mums are usually late so just wanted to see if this was true!

PPS (37 weeks today!) XX

Hi pps - DON'T DESPAIR! I'm due on 22nd. Dd was born 1 day early after 8h 19min labour at home. I am allowed to deliver at home any time after 25 minutes from now when I am 37 weeks.

weeonion · 30/06/2007 23:47

pps - had a sweep on due date, show the next morning followed by slow build up of contractions. bubba born 2 days later. all manageable, positive experience with no pain relief and no tears/ stitches etc

bilblio · 01/07/2007 00:30

A good thread to start PPS. I'm a 1st timers too and starting to get impatient. It doesn't help that everyone is fretting about me going anywhere alone, not that DP is letting me anywhere anyhow, and keeps asking if I'm giving birth whenever I make a sound.

If only these last few weeks were like the first few weeks when I had to rely on the MN stats thread to work out how far along I was.

MunchiesMama · 01/07/2007 18:53

I was 3 days late, but my hind waters had gone 3 days before that. My labour lasted 26 hours (I seemed to stop it a one point, next time will try to relax more so that doesn't happen again!). Good luck xx

purplejennyrose · 01/07/2007 19:05

Almost 2 weeks early, around 16 hours from first contraction to birth but 'established' labour in hosp from 4cm dilated was about 10 hours till birth, but included 3.5 hours pushing (!)so should have been lot less!!

ScoobyC · 01/07/2007 19:48

Went into labour 3am on day after edd, gave birth 21.5 hours later 2 days after edd.

Good luck!!!

motherinferior · 01/07/2007 19:50

Epically nasty long labour - about three days or something - two days early.

Miaou · 01/07/2007 19:55

I was 5 days early and 16 hours in labour - but if I hadn't had an epidural labour would probably have been about 10 the m/w reckoned.

popsycal · 01/07/2007 19:56

induced 3 weeks eary due to pre-eclampsia. Labour was just under 4 hours (first try induction worked)

TheAccidentalParent · 01/07/2007 22:31

Only 4 days late. 15 hours of labour. Only 20 mins of pushing though!

Donk · 01/07/2007 22:34

23 days early
About 4 1/2 hours in labour

MaureenMLove · 01/07/2007 22:38

4 hours and 15 days early.

Alibobster · 02/07/2007 09:57

DS was lying back to back and the pain was unbearable, however because I wasn't in 'established labour' they would not let me go to maternity unit. Felt like screaming 'of course I'm in bloody labour, what else would you call this agony!' So it worked out as 15 hours of agony, with nothing except one shot of morphine, before they sent me to maternity unit where I got lovely gas and air and an epidural. Baby born 3 hours later by c-section. 15 days late. All the things I didn't want to happen happened but at least I had a beautiful healthy son by the end of it

mamadoc · 02/07/2007 11:18

2 days late, 24hrs contractions total but only 6hrs full on labour. Gas and air was sooo good when it really kicked in. Everyone says it , no-one does it but really do try to sleep and eat during the early bit.

Chattyhan · 02/07/2007 11:24

Ds was born on edd, my labour was 3 1/2 hrs

lizziemun · 02/07/2007 11:41

DD was born at 39 weeks and 9lb 4oz.

Had backache for 24 hours not painful just uncomfortable. Waters broke at 6.30am with bleeding and no contractions, went to the hospital at 7am still no contractions, had to examined by the doctor and was shocked to fin i was already 8cm dilated. Had gas and air, but was given a petherdine injection but this made me sleep for 5 hours. Woke up at 2pm with contractions, had to be catherised (sp) as the only time in 9 month i was not able to wee . DD was born at 2.13pm with only having about 5 contractions to push her out.

Gemmitygem · 02/07/2007 17:51

1 week early.

three days and three nights of contractions, bearable with tens, got me to 5 cm. drip plus low dose epi, finally he popped out happily! He was OP, that's why it took so long, apparently..

kys · 02/07/2007 17:57

I was 11 days early with my 1st and only ds. And total bliss, my labour only lasted 57minutes. Good luck with yours x

YumMumFatBum · 02/07/2007 18:05

Dd was a week early.

SeamonstEr · 02/07/2007 18:22

36 weeks 1-2 hrs (was high so can't remember)

Loobyloo22 · 02/07/2007 22:16

I was one day over with my dd and was in pain for 3.5 days (established labour for about 15 hours) then had an emergency. I have to be truthful that it was horrendous but as nearly everyone else will tell you you do forget it and what is a day of pain after all? Look at the reward you get.

I guess my situation was not a 'normal' one. A friend of mine had a 3 hour labour and came out asking what 'all the fuss was about' - the cow!!

Lucylou21 · 03/07/2007 16:10

I was one day early. Woke up with mild pains and thought I'd eaten something dodgy but by mid-morning the pains were 5 minutes apart. Went to hospital and was examined just as I went to 5cm dilated so we went for lunch at Sainsburys to pass some time. Returned to the hospital and gave birth at about 10.54pm after 2 hours pushing (and the help of a ventouse)
According to my notes it was 6 hours long and went really well! I got terrible cramp in my leg whilst being stitched up though, ouch!
Dd was 7lb and 14oz, smaller than they expected! I hope your labour is as positive as mine was

halogen · 19/07/2007 20:50

My daughter arrived two hours earlier than her due date. I had a really easy time of things - 17 hours of contractions in total, only felt that I needed to go into hospital about four hours before she arrived, so got there three hours in advance as I was busy moaning and pacing around the house for a while. I think I might have been in transition in reception when they were being arsey about finding me a bed/room. I had a really positive experience and hope it goes as well for you. Also, don't wish the days away. I know you must be dying to meet your baby but enjoy the sleep while you can get it!

Guitargirl · 19/07/2007 20:59

I was induced at + 11. 21 hours from application of prostin gel to ECC.

NAB3 · 19/07/2007 21:00

My second child, but 1st labour, was 23 hours 55 minutes from the first contraction to her being born. The next baby came a lot quicker.
