Hi everyone
Started having contractions at about 7pm, only coming every half hour or so so went to bed before 10.
Don't know how often they're coming (still not very often) but I can't sleep through them now. Plus they seem to go on for ages - I thought at this early stage they would be fairly quick.
I don't really know what I want to know except I thought I'd go to sleep and they'd be gone by the morning (was expecting to go 2 weeks overdue). Does this sound like it, or will it probably go on for the next 10 days?

Yes, very normal! There's often a thread going similar to yours. I'll see if I can send some support - hang on!

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 11:32

Thank you. Kind of assumed that was it now until they restarted, which could be days

Hi ladies i had similar pains like this every day and night for 2 weeks, contractions started coming every 3 mins tthen 5 then 7 then went to 15 then after 15 hrs at the hospital(had 2 visits)they disappeared to nothing, started again later the next day had paracetamol, baths, tens you name it i tried it but was still having contractions. The only advice i can give you both is that your probably in early labour and your body is getting ready,to birth your babes this CAN take time,i was nearly pulling my hair out, after nearly 2 weeks of this. But i knew on the sunday morning things were different the pain was very intense shaking from head to foot, sickness, not knowing what to do with myself and that was the real thing for me i had ds early hrs mon morn.Natalie Jane who was on the nov thread with me had the same thing im sure she will be along later to give her advice. You do need Lulumama though she was a fantastic support to us and supported me 5 mins before i went into have ds she was fab shes a doula so she will help you all she can,as will we all, just remember every labour is different and listen to your body Good Luck and Huge Hugs as i know just how uncomfy it can be,i will see if i can find the thread and link it

Hi Girls..

Oh the thought of this going on for 2 weeks is just too depressing Mind you, I have a hospital appt for a week today when I´ll be 41+1 so we´ll see what they can offer me then if I´m still hanging on...

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 12:34

Yep, and I've been promised a sweep (like a chimney) for next Tuesday so surely that must speed things up?? Couldn't do this for another week and a half!

Lulumama, my feet are huge now and have started to itch (just today). Is this something I should be worried about?

OP posts:
Katy44 · 26/04/2007 12:41

They are incredibly swollen - much worse than yesterday

OP posts:
debbsyandsonn · 26/04/2007 12:44

katy look back on that link i posted im sure nj had this.
I know lulu just scanned through them made me teary eyed (sighs)

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 12:45

Thanks. I've just called the midwife and she said unless they get worse or I get headaches or eyesight problems not to worry.

OP posts:
lulumama · 26/04/2007 12:47

sit down if you can, with your feet elevated

it is tempting not to drink fluids when you are swollen, but you need to

debbsyandsonn · 26/04/2007 12:49

just taking ds out for a walk be back later

Boco · 26/04/2007 13:04

Debsy i just read that thread, adn got to the end and no babies!! What happened, when was he born? What did you call him? WAs it all ok? What about nj?

Boco · 26/04/2007 13:06

Katy i've had 2 babies and with both i had a long pre-labour with close together contractions going on for days. But - when labour was finally established, it was very very fast, especially the pushing stage, ten minutes with dd1, and ONE minute for dd2!!

It's horrible, i shouted at the midwife because she said i was having 'niggles'. I was crying 'its not fucking niggles, its ACTUAL PAIN!!'

Good luck, hopefully all these little ones will pay off later.

Boco · 26/04/2007 13:07

I meant all the little contractions pay off later

eca · 26/04/2007 13:15

come on girlies!! LOL at you two contraction-buddies!! Hoping things get going for you soon lovlies. xxx

NormaStanleyfletcher · 26/04/2007 13:19

Oh I love these threads.

Just keep reminding yourselves that, as annoying as they are, all of these contractions and pains are getting your body more and more ready for the big event

debbsyandsonn · 26/04/2007 13:24

Sorry boco here you go the conclusion
