Hi everyone
Started having contractions at about 7pm, only coming every half hour or so so went to bed before 10.
Don't know how often they're coming (still not very often) but I can't sleep through them now. Plus they seem to go on for ages - I thought at this early stage they would be fairly quick.
I don't really know what I want to know except I thought I'd go to sleep and they'd be gone by the morning (was expecting to go 2 weeks overdue). Does this sound like it, or will it probably go on for the next 10 days?

Hi Liath!

I guess he can go to work.. I´m not sure.. morning feels far away right now! He only works 10mins drive away so if nothing seems imminent he may aswell. Right now I just have no idea if this is something or nothing.

One thing I can tell you is I am going to be in a pretty bad mood tomorrow if it´s the latter! [siiiigh]

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 03:35

Yes, that's how I'm feeling, although having had no 'signs' yet, this has to be better that nothing.
Think I'll send DH to work, after all I'll be tempting fate if I keep him home. I'm sure he'll call every ten minutes anyway!

night katy and maveta fingers crossed your little ones arrive soon I'll keep an eye out on the forum for news that tristans here!
and yes he will get called chris/justin a lot!

maveta · 26/04/2007 03:39

I guess so, worse case scenario and it all stops at least it must be getting us ready for the real deal, right?? RIGHT?

Just going to put the kettle on I think.

I´ve had a few false starts like this so far but this feels a little different.. the other times I couldn´t really sleep but being up 30mins or so normally made them go away and I would then go back to bed and sleep more or less fine. This time I´ve not been able to get back to sleep yet. So I guess it´s progress at least.. even if I am going to be shattered tomorrow..

maveta · 26/04/2007 03:40

night misc!

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 03:40

Goodnight misc, thanks for keeping me company!

maveta, yes, definitely agree about the getting ready thing, TBH as I haven't had many BHs (if I have in fact had any) it's nice just to have some idea of what to expect. For example I thought I'd be able to sleep through them to begin with but that's not possible. Also, an idea of who is on MN in the middle of the night.
Mine seem to be coming every 4 or 5 minutes now. Do you think it's worth ringing the hospital? Oh &*( you'll have to do that in spanish won't you? Are you fluent??

OP posts:
maveta · 26/04/2007 03:47

Are they really sore yet? I am fluent so that´s not a problem LOL but you can´t call the hospital here like you do in the UK, you just have to go in. If yours are coming that closely and making you stop while they´re happening maybe you should call, can´t hurt..

You know while you and I are here all night making a bloody mountain out of a molehill, one of the other girls will be quietly getting on with producing an actual baby

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 03:54

Yes, they hurt but not that badly, I can still cope if you know what I mean. If I was talking to you you'd know I was having one though.
Yes, good point. What are the chance CaptainDippy and Emmymummy will both have had theirs by now

OP posts:
Katy44 · 26/04/2007 03:56

How are yours?

OP posts:
maveta · 26/04/2007 03:59

Meh. Think I might try and lie down again after this cuppa.. they´re coming every 4-6 mins but I wouldn´t say they HURT that much. More uncomfy than just ´tightenings´ but not that painful really.. oh bollocks.. it´s all going to be nothing, isn´t it? Well, I hope yours isn´t anyway, it does sound a bit more promising..have you called the hospital yet?

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 04:01

no, am having some cereal. Will probably call them after that, but am hoping I can at least wait until 6 so DH has had something like a night's sleep.
It's difficult isn't it when you don't know what to expect? What you think of as uncomfortable might be the same as my 'quite painful'!
Hope you manage to get some rest xx

OP posts:
maveta · 26/04/2007 04:05

Thanks, think I might toddle off now.. I know what you mean about relative interpretations of ´sore´ but still think the real thing would be more painful than this. Everyone does seem to say ´You KNOW´ and I reckon if I´m in this much doubt it can´t be it. Best to try and get some sleep.

Hope you pass the time okay and that we hear some fab news tomorrow!! Fingers crossed for you!! x

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 04:09

Thanks, same to you! (Although if we're both giving birth neither of us will know about the other!)
Good night xx

Hi maveta! Thought I'd move back to this thread.
Well, my contractions have slowed right down How about you?

OP posts:
maveta · 26/04/2007 05:37

They´re kind of the same.. but no less no more iykwim? About every 3-6 mins? And wildly varying duration.

Have you woken your dp yet? Are you going to?

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 05:39

No, I'll just wake him at the normal time.
I've just called the hospital again, they said see how it goes, that they might have slowed as the baby moves down into the pelvis and that DH should go to work!

OP posts:
Katy44 · 26/04/2007 05:40

Are you up now or are you going to try to have some more sleep?
I wish I hadn't taken that paracetemol, I didn't need it and I think it's a coincidence that 20 minutes afterwards my contractions slowed right down! It's their answer to everything!

OP posts:
maveta · 26/04/2007 05:41

Bad luck to your dh! Think mine might be best off doing the same, I´ll just feel pressured to perform otherwise LOL.

Does feel like mine have slowed.. oh grump grump. was all looking mildly promising there for a while..

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 05:42

In the semi-sleep I've had, I've had some really vivid dreams about my baby! I always knew I was awake so I don't suppose they were dreams but I've been able to visualise him as a newborn - right down to being purple and screaming! Hopefully will find out how close to reality I was soon!

OP posts:
maveta · 26/04/2007 05:43

I don´t know what to do!! When I try to go to sleep they seem more intense and that makes me get up then when I´m up they don´t go away but they aren´t so intense so I start thinking ´mmmm I´m tired, maybe I´ll lie down...´. Think maybe I´ll put a dvd on or something and slump on the sofa..

You?

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 05:43

ooh, back down to 6 minutes, although that might be a one-off. Hope you're OK and just sleeping, or off having a baby!
Back soon, going to see if I can get some more sleep.

OP posts:
Katy44 · 26/04/2007 05:45

Oh there you are - yes, me too!
When I'm lying down sort of scrunched up they feel much worse than when I'm stood up! Still don't think I could actually sleep through one though.

OP posts:
maveta · 26/04/2007 05:46

Okay, let´s try the sofa thing then.. might see you back on here later..good luck!!
