Hi everyone
Started having contractions at about 7pm, only coming every half hour or so so went to bed before 10.
Don't know how often they're coming (still not very often) but I can't sleep through them now. Plus they seem to go on for ages - I thought at this early stage they would be fairly quick.
I don't really know what I want to know except I thought I'd go to sleep and they'd be gone by the morning (was expecting to go 2 weeks overdue). Does this sound like it, or will it probably go on for the next 10 days?

Hi sauce.
Haven't seen maveta for a while, hopefully that means things are happening for her!
I'm feeling loads better, had some sleep (sorry!!) and after doing what lulumama said and putting my feet up for an hour the swelling has reduced loads and not come back even though I've just walked a mile to the shop and back! Contractions aren't close or regular yet (although seem about every 7-10 mins) but are still coming, so I don't feel I've gone too far back.

fingers crossed, katy. glad that lulumama's advice helped. I would've been frantically diagnosing myself with pre-eclampsia. Too much ER. what are you drinking? I'm still on the tea. I guess I'd better stop that or I won't sleep tonight - horrors!

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 15:52

Yes, I was too! Spoke to the midwife as well so I wasn't being reckless.
I'm just drinking water at the moment, tempted to drink raspberry leaf tea but not sure I can face it!

Contractions seem to be getting more regular again and more painful Think if it wasn't almost the end of the working day I'd be asking DH to leave in an hour or so.

lulumama · 26/04/2007 15:58

hang on in there ! bet you're glad you had a sleep. potter around, do what you need to, and the contractions will let you know when you need to concentrate!!

sauce · 26/04/2007 16:02

Girl or boy? Was it you, katy, who is going to call her son Tristan? Or was I hallucinating?

sauce · 26/04/2007 16:03

ooooh! excited for you.

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 16:06

Yep, that's right sauce, that was me! You need some sleep!
I know - I'm sure someone told me to sleep or rest beteen contractions when possible and I thought I'd be too excited but I'd feel awful now if I hadn't!

I have to go & pick up dc from school. I left them there for the after school period so I wouldn't have to do homework with dd this evening. Couldn't face it. And now dh is cross because I couldn't be arsed to take ds to his judo class. Well so sad, too bad. bloody dh. I've also got to buy something for my family to eat - prob ready-made roast chicken - but none for me as I've been stuffing myself with bread, butter & jam all day to go with my tea. What is it about fatigue that sends us straight to the carbs?

sauce · 26/04/2007 16:12

wow! that was the most i've said all day.

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 16:18

Yes, I always end up eating when I'm tired. It's like you think you can compansate somehow!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 26/04/2007 16:19

OOoooooooooohhhhhh exciting

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 17:00

Right contractions coming between 3 and 5 minutes, lasting about 40 seconds. Still can manage walking about but am fantasising about pain relief. Am getting pain in my back too now as well as the period pain.
Is this good?

Hi Katy, have been following your most exciting thread! Sounds like the contractions are strengthening - do you have to stop and breathe through them yet? I always found this a good indication of how strong they are, if you have to stop, concentrate, breathe, hold on to something, rock etc this is all good. Especially if they are lasting a minute and coming frequently. (If I remember correctly nearly 3 and a half years since dd2 - dc3 due in 11 weeks ) Keep going you are doing really well. x

lulumama · 26/04/2007 17:23

it is good

might be time for the TENS if you are using one

a bath might help with the pain and a couple of paracetomal

listen to your body

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 17:27

Thanks you two. Yes, some of them I'm having to breathe through and concentrate - some are OK. Also, haven't had one for a while now, my mum rang and that seems to have slowed them down
Assuming they come back, I'm going to get DH to hook me up to the TENS as soon as he gets back from work (should be in the next 20 minutes)

maveta · 26/04/2007 17:28

Oh Katy! You´ve overtaken me! Hope it´s all getting going for you babe.. who´s going to keep me company when my contractions come back with a vengeance tonight??! lol.

What did you do to get them going again, tell me, tell me, TELL ME!!

marchbunny · 26/04/2007 17:28

Tens machine worked really well for me last time, def a good idea if you are feeling the need for some relief. x

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 17:30

probably me maveta.
Think I'm going to go in tonight, but assume we'll be sent home again (and would rather be iysim)

OP posts:
maveta · 26/04/2007 17:37

well don´t forget to let us know if you´re going in so we can send you all of our labour vibes. Going for a long walk with dh when he gets home so hopefully that will bounce the baby down a bit more..

Forgot to mention, at some point last night I noticed I had ´leaked´ a bit but it didn´t seem like discharge and I definitely hadn´t weed myself. Then when I wiped (TMI sorry!) it was kind of pinky coloured. But nothing more, just that.. does that sound like a hindwater leak or something? Maybe a middle of the night hallucination??

Nothing more happening here for now....

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 17:43

That sounds like waters to me!

OP posts:
Emmymummy · 26/04/2007 17:45

Hey Katy! Have you been examined at all yet?

lulumama · 26/04/2007 18:35

sounds like hindwater leak, and or a show!

oooh,keep us posted!

Katy44 · 26/04/2007 18:42

Hi, no I haven't been in yet
My contractions have slowed again so I'm going to wait until they're regular before I ring.
Have my TENS machine on now - much better!

OP posts:
lulumama · 26/04/2007 18:42

good, you'll know when it is time

just keep doing what you need to

don;t forget to eat and drink !
