Anybody up? Think I'm in labour...

I'm having contractions about every 6 mins, lasting about a minute each. I've sent DH to bed to try to sleep and I'm up watching a Friends dvd! Anyone around to keep me company? Feeling a bit scared and not sure I can do this. (First baby!)

Just wanted to add my two-penneth here. I remember all too well that feeling of intense disappointment that you are no where near as dilated as you thought were(or feel you are bloody well entitled to be after all those contractions!) but I found that the key thing was to stay in the moment, don't get ahead of yourself or try to predict what will be happening in 1, 6 or 12 hours time because it's futile and impossible. Apart fromn teh baby-cuddling, that is. Focus on what is happening right now and trust yourself. You absolutely can do it.

(By the way, I am currently 35 wks with DC2 and so this is as much a pep talk for me as for you! Best of luck).

How are you nut?

Just found your thread.

Hope contractions are getting closer and stronger for you.

Love a live labour thread!

Bluelightsandsirens · 27/03/2013 11:23

How are you doing op?

halesball · 27/03/2013 11:48

I've caught up on the thread. I hope you've stopped vomiting. I also hope that your getting a sleep Grin

How are you feeling now?

NutBiscuit · 27/03/2013 12:48

No more vomiting thank god but no sleep either. Contractions steady at one every 8 mins, need to speed them up somehow! Keep dozing off between contractions and nearly falling off the birthing ball Smile

Glad to hear you've stopped being sick. Is your DH at home with you? If you want to keep active rather than snooze could you venture out for a stroll?

Sending positive vibes your way

NutBiscuit · 27/03/2013 13:17

Yes DH is here. Not sure I'm brave enough to head out, mainly because of the fear of looking like an idiot whilst contracting in the street! Am pacing my living room though and doing lots of hip swaying!

Ooh just found this thread - how exciting, Nutbiscuit!!! You sound like you are doing brilliantly, have a snooze if you could manage one or do laps of the house if you can't. Soon you'll get to meet your baby!!!!! Thinking of you and sending you mummy-vibes x

TheTiger · 27/03/2013 14:25

You are doing really well nut, hopefully you will be having lovely baby snuggles soon!

Think off all the Easter treats you can have at weekend as 'breast feeding energy stores' Smile

TheTiger · 27/03/2013 14:26

of not off! Arghh!

SoYo · 27/03/2013 14:35

Have you tried having a bath?

space21 · 27/03/2013 14:44

Good luck. Hope you get to meet your baby soon. I'm due on Sunday so hoping labour starts any minute. Keep bouncing and I agree with soyo - get in the bath - very soothing.

MrsHoolie · 27/03/2013 14:51

Good luck Nut!

elvislives2012 · 27/03/2013 15:17

Ooh just checking in. Sorry it's not as quick as you'd like, nut. You're doing really well. Keep moving and your LO will be here before you know it

sweetiepie1979 · 27/03/2013 15:36

Well any news?

NutBiscuit · 27/03/2013 15:41

No news! This has been the longest day ever. contractions still stalled at 10 mins apart, not sure what I'm supposed to do next really

TobyLerone · 27/03/2013 15:45

Poor love :(

I hate to tell you, but this is what both of my labours were like. For 3 days, both times. Ctx at least every 10 minutes, sometimes every 4 minutes. Never a break. And when I went to hospital for my pre-booked induction on the 3rd day (for being 40+14 both times), I was 3cm both times.

I am useless at giving birth. I hope yours speeds up soon and you have your baby by tonight. It's so tiring.

CityDweller · 27/03/2013 15:49

I've been following this thread avidly as I'm due in a few days! I feel for you Nut. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for things to kick off and then slow down (it's bad enough that I keep on just thinking things might be about to kick off...).

Hang in there! I have heard from mws that walking really helps get things going again when they've stalled. I know you said you can't face going outside, but perhaps if your DH came with you, you could take a walk around the block? And do you have stairs? Walking up and down them sideways is supposed to be good...

Am rooting for you!

TheTiger · 27/03/2013 15:52

Keep going, it will start up again. Keep pacing, and bouncing on the ball. How many weeks are you?

Sending 'come on baby!' vibes your way

NutBiscuit · 27/03/2013 16:27

Oh Toby, that sounds awful. You must have been exhausted, I am after only one night and day of this.

Tiger I am 40+6. No induction date set as yet so hoping I get there myself first!

TobyLerone · 27/03/2013 16:35

Ah, it all turned out alright in the end :)

FX that you are waaaaaay better at squeezing babies out than I am!

sweetiepie1979 · 27/03/2013 16:39

Thinking of you just breath in to baby and tell him it's ok your ready when he is Hee hee exciting times x

cupcake78 · 27/03/2013 17:08

Nut I and my step sister had a similar labour with our ds. It really is exhausting. Honestly I'd rest as much as you can, have baths, use your tens machine and get as comfortable as possible tonight. Sleep whenever you can even if its just 20mins at a time.

I slept in the chair with my legs up as lying down was very painful.

TobyLerone · 27/03/2013 17:37

Oh, and PS, when I eventually did go to hospital when having DC1, I was persuaded by my mum to have an epidural as I was exhausted. It wasn't what I wanted, but having had contractions at least every 10 minutes for 72 hours, I gave in quite easily.

The relief was amazing, and it was lovely to get a bit of a rest. I didn't sleep, but just a rest from the pain was really good.

NutBiscuit · 27/03/2013 17:56

Ugh, more vomiting. And although I'm only getting what i would call contractions every 8-10 mins, i am in constant pain in my stomach. This is horrible.
