Hoping for my VBAC but 40+12 so come in for induction. Because of previous CS, no prostin. They've just broken my waters - MW couldn't do it as cervix posterior so consultant came, gave me gas & air to use, tugged cervix forward and broke them!

Now just waiting to see if contractions start!

Hows it going ses? xx

Starshinetiger · 08/06/2012 21:26

Been thinking of you Ses. I've heard lots of stories of people sticking at a certain dilation for a while and then all of a sudden - bam, they're having a baby. Hoping it'll be like that for you. Re. epidural - whatever you want, you're the one having the baby, but guess if you wait a bit, you'll either still be part way there and have the cance to get one, or you'll be nearly there and might feel you can do the rest on your own.
P.s. DH has just chimed in with "He's going to get his way (your DH)" and "I'm on Ses's DH's side" - men!!!! WinkGrin

Bluetinkerbell · 08/06/2012 21:50

Secretly hoping you've gone from 2 to 10 cms in 2 hours time Wink

lostmywellies · 08/06/2012 21:59

Hope it's all going well, SES.

Reggiee · 08/06/2012 22:04

Thinking of you ses. The baby's on its way Grin

SESthebrave · 08/06/2012 22:04

Sorry for going quiet. All ok. Have got epidural in now which a small part of me is disappointed about but a large part of me is feeling relieved and more positive. Next VE within the next half hour so will see whether any progress from 2cm!

McKayz · 08/06/2012 22:07

I have fingers crossed that you've made some progress.

Cupboarddoor · 08/06/2012 22:13

Glad all OK and the epi is doing it's job. Go Ses go Grin

treedelivery · 08/06/2012 22:15

Glad all continues well and you are pain free. A wonderful feeling! Great stuff your little passenger is coping and after the next examination maybe you can get some rest for whatever lies ahead.

Pom poms a shaking Smile

SESthebrave · 08/06/2012 22:15

Aaaargh! No further dilated!!
Registrar was great though and explained that the body would normally do this bit across many hours/days and they're trying to get it to work quicker. She's going to come back at midnight and examine me again.

Joining the cheerleading squad Grin
Go on baby Ses time to come out!
I hope there's some progress, even 1cm is better than nothing Smile. Most women with the synto trip end up with an epidural, so don't worry about it. They're artificial contractions that build up quickly, so much harder to cope with than spontaneous labour.
Good luck!

belgina · 08/06/2012 22:18

Whoops. X post. Don't worry. It'll happen. Maybe time for some sleep if you can Smile

lastboxoftampons · 08/06/2012 22:19

Oh, Ses, try to stay positive :( I was similar to you (though wasn't induced) and stuck at 3cm for ages. Only progressed to 5cm after they broke my water and stayed there for several hours. Wasn't until after the epidural that I progressed because I was finally able to relax and rest! Try to get some sleep and keep up your strength. Don't work yourself up - your body needs to just go with it.

Thinking of you and will be checking back lots! Wagon hugs! Grin

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 08/06/2012 22:19

Having had my two without an Epi I'm thinking that actually they could be quite an idea ! Possibly more restful as tree said ?

treedelivery · 08/06/2012 22:20

Cool. Lie back and let the syntocinon do it's work. Your body probably hasn't clicked into active labour just yet - probably still hovering around the latent phase. Just as it would be if you were at home and pottering about.

You might not have progressed and they might offer you a section at some point - which means you could be a mummy again in just a couple of hours!!!! Isn't that magic?

Or you might be dilating and then we'll all have to wait a bit Grin.

Either way I'll have to go to bed - I'm at work tomorrow. Maybe you'll be on my ward???

McKayz · 08/06/2012 22:21

Ses, try and rest and even sleep if you can. It might help and you'll also have some energy for later on.

lastboxoftampons · 08/06/2012 22:21

PS: I remember feeling disappointed when I agreed to the epidural too. But there's no point in perservering through a labour that's not progressing - it will only make you more upset, edgy, stressed. Not good for you or LO. You've made the best decision for you and baby, please don't feel bad. xx

SESthebrave · 08/06/2012 22:23

Thank you - the supportive messages do help :)

TreeDelivery and Belgina - if you could both head to East Surrey hospital for your shifts tomorrow, that would be great :)

lastboxoftampons · 08/06/2012 22:27

Yeah, Tree if I could get your number so I can call you when I have my next baby, that'd be great Grin Would love to have your calming presence around!!!!

treedelivery · 08/06/2012 22:29

Thats a nice thing to say SES. Bless you.

I remember being where you are so clearly {although not a VBAC} the feeling of uncertainty and just wishing you knew what was going to happen. Well, they all come out in the end, this much we know.

Hope you get some rest - I'll keep checking in and I'll certainly check in the morning!
You'll have babe in arms by then Envy

BBisTitanium · 08/06/2012 22:34

Ses you are doing a fab job, just keep on keeping on, tru and rest and by midnight who knows how dilated you will be?either way your baby is coming! And that makes me soooo happy for you! Will check in first thing big wagon hugs from me x

DairyNips · 08/06/2012 22:39

Glad you're comfortable now. Good opportunity for a restSmile Sending dilating vibes~~~~~>

Bluetinkerbell · 08/06/2012 22:39

good you have epidural, now have some rest and don't think in cms anymore Wink

Starshinetiger · 08/06/2012 22:41

Awww, hugs Ses. Very sound advice from others. Hope you can get some rest with the epidural in. As others have said, if you were at home with just mild pains, you would be going to bed with a hot water bottle and paracetamol, so maybe just treat it like that if you can. You are doing brilliantly and soon you will have your LO in your arms - so exciting still.

belgina · 08/06/2012 22:46

Aaaw, thank you ses. Smile. My parents are visiting tomorrow, so sadly I've got to stay in Kent.

Bed now for me too (manic shift) but I will be on here straightaway in the morning & who knows I'll find you're close to pushing or other exciting news.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
