Hoping for my VBAC but 40+12 so come in for induction. Because of previous CS, no prostin. They've just broken my waters - MW couldn't do it as cervix posterior so consultant came, gave me gas & air to use, tugged cervix forward and broke them!

Now just waiting to see if contractions start!

It's great your body has responded so quickly - you must have been ready to labour. Just needed a shove gentle nudge in the right direction Grin

bumpsnowjustplump · 08/06/2012 19:11

Thanks for support!

Contractions getting stronger - I'm grimacing through them now. They're going to examine me again at 8pm seeing as they've not done that since 4pm so I just hope there's been progression!

Hi SES. Just checking in. Sounds like you are progressing well, so fingers crossed for the 8pm examination (or would you prefer fingers spread?).

Grimace....and breathe....

You're doing fab Smile

Sirzy · 08/06/2012 19:43

Hope all is going to plan!

Gingerbreadlatte · 08/06/2012 19:43

DH will be home soon so viewing will be limited as I will need be vaguely sociable

lastboxoftampons · 08/06/2012 19:50

Hooray, Ses! So excited for you - you'll have your little one in your arms very very soon!

Lots of love to you and little ses! You're doing so well!

omnomnomtom · 08/06/2012 20:04

Hi Ses - sounds like things are progressing well. Really excited for you - come on babySes!

SESthebrave · 08/06/2012 20:07

VE done and apparently only 2cm dilated :(

MW says it could be a long night and asking whether I want an epidural. I'm not sure. Don't think I can go another 4hrs without any pain relief and she's concerned if I just do gas and air, I'll wear myself out.

OP posts:
treedelivery · 08/06/2012 20:20

Well, it's entirely up to you. Induction is always uncertain, long and very personal. So entirely like every other labour.

If you feel like you'd like to, have an epidural and enjoy resting in bed counting down the last few hours of pregnancy.

If you feel you have more you'd like to do - wait on and see what the next few hours/mins/contractions brings.

It's all good Smile

P.S. It's great your cervix has changed at all and your body is listening to the hormone. Moving in the right direction!!

Bluetinkerbell · 08/06/2012 20:21

ooh SES :( only 2! Check with her how easily you can have the epidural, as in if you ask for it in 2 hours will you be able to get in then, or does it have to be done now there is an anesthesist around?

treedelivery · 08/06/2012 20:23

How long have you been having painful contractions? Because that is how long your cervox has had to dilate - so maybe 2 isn't bad going at all!

bumpsnowjustplump · 08/06/2012 20:26

Oh ses it is disappointing when you are not as far as you think you are. I seemed to stick at 4 for hours.... Sending you stretchy vibes and keep bouncing. Are you allowed in the pool? xx

omnomnomtom · 08/06/2012 20:27

Oh Ses, I remember the disappointment of being told progress was slow, I had a long labour with Jake. End result is so worth it though.
Re the epidural, it might help you rest a bit, but if you aren't sure then delay the decision for an hour and try something else in the meantime- being in the bath helped me relax. Things might progress quicker now your ctx are more regular.
Good luck, i'll be checking in on you later x

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 08/06/2012 20:28

It can be so disappointing when you're not as far along as you'd hoped (remembers own births). Think positive lovely, keep moving, bouncing on the ball etc. The baby will soon be here. You can do this.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 08/06/2012 20:40

Loving treedeliverys posts.

It's all good SES - your baby will be with you (and all us MN Aunties !) soon Smile

(I know I kept forgetting it was about a baby - so think that's a good thing to try to remember !!)

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 08/06/2012 20:45

Wish Tree had been my midwife for my labours.

Are you ok SES?

McKayz · 08/06/2012 20:52

With DS1 I had been having contractions for 6 hours and I was 2-3cm. It was horrible but every contraction gets you a little closer to baby snuggles!

Thinking of you x

RachelWalsh · 08/06/2012 20:59

When I was induced with ds1 it all went fairly slowly until the last bit when I went from 4cm to 10 in an hour! (by which time it was far too late for an epidural!)

You have to do whatever you feel is best for you, but if you put it off for an hour or two would you still be able to get one? That's what I'd be tempted to do I think.

Go SES!
