What time did you go in to be induced?

Hospital want me to go in at 5pm on Friday.

I don't want to. I want to go in on Saturday morning.

Is there any reason they want me there overnight? Will ring hospital in the morning to clarify (couldn't face asking more questions of dopey consultant today!), but just wondered.

From your experience, are they likely to start trying to induce me on Friday evening? Or first thing on Saturday?

(Oh, and some "go into labour naturally" vibes most welcome - thank you!)

hurrah hunker, well done! very excited for you! I TOLD you you would have it on wednesday, preen preen preen. can't wait to hear your news!! xxx

pupuce, I always maintain chatty humour throughout contractions so that isn't much of a sign, for me anyway.

In fact my last words to my midwife before the last one was born 2 mins later were "sorry for calling you out so soon, you'll probably be here for hours now. would you like a cup of coffee? No, actually, hang on, I think I need to push...."

always the hostess with the mostest, me

LadySherlockofLGJ · 18/01/2006 10:13

Stick another T on there and it is a Garden Centre in Surrey.......

LadySherlockofLGJ · 18/01/2006 10:14

PPH

Have you seen SC thread ??

PrincessPeaHead · 18/01/2006 10:14

thought secretts was a lapdancing club in hammersmith....

Miaou · 18/01/2006 10:14

When I was having ds I told myself that I refused to be frightened by the pain - and suddenly found the whole thing much easier. (sorry to anyone who is now rolling their eyes and saying "well lucky you" - I know it doesn't work for everyone!)

(perhaps helped that he was my third and the other two had "prepared the way", so to speak )

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 10:14

PPH, I thought you'd be pleased I was obliging with a Wednesday baby

Another one who can chat through labour! Hurrah!

Sit back to front on a chair good for opeing cervix and gripping onto inbetween contractions and mumsnet fo course.

PS send me some of your contractions vibes please

PrincessPeaHead · 18/01/2006 10:14

no - what is sc thread? brain not working.

oh, midwife here to prod me, back later. go, hunker, go!

pupuce · 18/01/2006 10:14

You can maintain humour but I have yet to see someone to be very very chatty in transition...

LadySherlockofLGJ · 18/01/2006 10:15

I did as well, I even sent Mr LGJ back to bed (private room) as he was falling asleep, and the midwives were more fun.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 18/01/2006 10:15

Will bump it for you.

PrincessPeaHead · 18/01/2006 10:15

hunker you may call your baby after me in tribute. Henrietta if a girl, Henry if a boy

Miaou · 18/01/2006 10:16

I was chatty during transition, pupuce. I chatted, "Oh, I just want to get out of this pool and leave the pain in it for a bit!" Very loudly.

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 10:16

Transition is one of my clearest memories of labour. I thought "I can't do this!" then remembered that just when you think you can't do it means you're in transition and your baby's going to be here soon.

Miaou... there is a book called : Childbirth without fear.... and it does explain that the more anticipation of pain and fear, the more painful it is.....

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 10:17

PMSL - don't try to move into reverse-chair-sitting while mid-contraction... Bloody hell, labour hasn't made me any brighter!

pupuce · 18/01/2006 10:17

But you are not illustrating to me a chat that was more like: I wonder wheat will do this WE...

sweetkitty · 18/01/2006 10:18

My funniest mumsnet thread was "help is this my waters breaking or have I peed myself?" (first timer) all the wise mumsnetter were like of course it's your waters you have not suddenly gone incontinent, get to hospital, DD born 4 hours later.

Go Hunker go!

Miaou · 18/01/2006 10:19

oooh that's interesting pupuce. I had an image in my head of the pain being attached to a thread, which was slowing being drawn out of me...God knows where I got that from, but it really helped. I daresay it's called something fancy like visualisation

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 10:19

Pupuce, my main topic of conversation during my whole labour was trying to get the midwives to tell me what time my baby would be born. I spent ages formulating new ways (I thought!) of posing the same question. Lots of "I know you can't tell me exactly, but how about roughly?"

Miaou · 18/01/2006 10:20

(Pupuce, I was being naughty - I wasn't at all "chatty" during transition - I was whinging about the pain at that point!)

LadySherlockofLGJ · 18/01/2006 10:21

Hunker you sneaky Munker, I had plans for this morning, and they did not include watching an on-line labour............

Would not miss it for the world.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 18/01/2006 10:21

Now where is my knitting ??

Miaou · 18/01/2006 10:21

Run a book on the likely weight of the db, hunker. That will help to pass the time . Or keep dh occupied anyway (worked for my dh!)

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 10:22

Just be thankful I've not hooked up the webcam, LGJ
