What time did you go in to be induced?

Hospital want me to go in at 5pm on Friday.

I don't want to. I want to go in on Saturday morning.

Is there any reason they want me there overnight? Will ring hospital in the morning to clarify (couldn't face asking more questions of dopey consultant today!), but just wondered.

From your experience, are they likely to start trying to induce me on Friday evening? Or first thing on Saturday?

(Oh, and some "go into labour naturally" vibes most welcome - thank you!)

Still here, but OMG, this isn't comfy!

Is it regular ?

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 09:20

Have had contractions since ten to 6 this morning - they woke me up. Not amazingly regular, but lasting 90 seconds to two minutes and having a fair few.

Oh that's good hunker! Fingers crossed!

pupuce · 18/01/2006 09:22

But you are quite conscious and "happy" in between?

sweetkitty · 18/01/2006 09:26

oh hunker sounds promising, fingers crossed for you that they continue and don't go away!

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 09:28

Yes, Pupuce. Getting lots of pressure too. Doing lots of pacing!

hmmm... and where is DH?

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 09:31

Right here! With DS - who's not well My mum's coming in with me too though, when I go.

Have you tried a shower or bath? If it doesn't ease I would call MW... would they do a home visit at all ? Sometimes they do!

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 09:35

Have had a shower, rang labour ward earlier and they said to continue with my plans for the day (er, hanging around waiting for the baby to be born!).

oh hunker sounds v promising, I know your worried about DS but you will be in and out in no time with a newborn!

Squarer · 18/01/2006 09:36

Shouldn't you be furiously scrubbing the kitchen cupboards out witha toothbrush or summat????

Distel · 18/01/2006 09:37

When I was in labour with no3, hospital asked at 9.30pm if I could stay home for longer as they were busy. DS was born at 10.08 practically in the car park!!!!

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 09:38

Asked if birthing pool was free, they said yes (small hopeful hooray) but that they were quite busy.

DH thinks it's hilarious I'm posting on here while in likely labour!

I agree with their strategy to a point - the less you focus on what's happening the better. However I can't see how you are feeling.
If you are "happy" and chatty in between contractions and they are irregular then it's early days. And then it's better to do other things to keep your mind off this.
HOWEVER as this isn't your first that stage my not last that long... and you may get stronger contractions fairly quickly/suddenly.
There is the "thing" I always say - and believe me it works .... in order for labour to progress you needs to let go in every way, over analysing, planning, worrying, fearing, etc only delay things.... does that make sense?
If you think I'm talking bollocks and this messages annoyses you maybe you are further along

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 09:43

This stage didn't last long in my first labour either - although my waters had gone that time.

They're definitely very strong and sharp. But I have the annoying ability to remain cheerful (cracking bad jokes, being overly "reasonable" about things, etc) however bad pain gets - I was chatting right up to delivery last time.

And you couldn't annoy me, Pupuce (don't try though, eh? ).

Well then I would say if they get regular, like every 3 mins, I would consider going in.....
Don't suppose you can call your commuinity midwife ?

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 09:47

Don't really know her (only met her once) - have had my antenatal care at the hospital because of having gestational diabetes.

Not sure Mears would approve but what about checking out your cervix !

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 18/01/2006 09:49

oo getting all excited reading this now - make sure your DH posts as soon as you've had it - bet you're having a little girl at 3.32 this afternoon

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 18/01/2006 09:50

PMSL - have wonderful visions of HM sitting there trying to examine her own cervix round her massive bump

hunkermunker · 18/01/2006 09:50

It's...er...more accessible, shall we say? (Shh, don't tell Mears...)

Oooh, sounds hopeful Hunker. MI was posting in labour and I posted about an hour before AND talked to various people on the phone in between contractions while in labour with dd, so it's normal I say, normal!
