I'm getting really impatient, and Isbn is showing no signs of wanting to be born.

So far:
I am 40+4 today (was due on Saturday)
I am very heavy.
Isbn is currently residing on my bladder, and also a nerve on my left-hand-side hip.
It feels the lowest it has been, and I can't decide whether the tightenings are Isbn's bottom or muscles doing something.
For the past couple of days, I've been feeling sick, like morning sickness, and food has been giving me massive heartburn.

Don't get your hopes up, but I thought it would be a good idea to start the thread, because DH isn't technical enough to start one when the time comes (and is indeed very hesitant about even posting on it)

Morning! What have I missed?

girlsyearapart · 01/12/2011 06:58

Marking my place after a very uncomfortable night full of contractions & back pain that didn't go anywhere..

Have midwife at 940 I really dont like her & it's pouring rain so I d like it if the baby could decide to declare it's intentions now..

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 07:01

My night full of contaction and back pain that wasn't going anywhere ended up as DS1 at 7.30pm the next evening girls. Wink

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 07:01

contractions even.

CarolCervix · 01/12/2011 07:51

Right I'm up.

girlsyearapart · 01/12/2011 07:51

I do hope so.
The last two both ten days early which makes it tomorrow but it's Dhs birthday so I was hoping to get it done today!

TheSmallPrint · 01/12/2011 08:00

Grin
JackiePaper · 01/12/2011 08:05

Morning all. Nickel, am hoping the sex and birth ball rocking is having some effect and you are progressing! Am at work all day now so sending you lots of good luck vibes for a 1st December baby :-)

PestoCaffeinisto · 01/12/2011 08:12

Oh Nickel, c'mon stop messign about Grin

I've lost the sweepstake now haven't I?

WeThreeKingsOfMardyBra · 01/12/2011 08:19

Marking my place. Good luck nickel.

Do you have a suitably literary name lined up? Or a MN name?

Heathcliff Gregg(s) Nickel has a nice ring to it if it's a boy.

YougreatChristmaspudding · 01/12/2011 08:37

Nickel imagine your cervix opening like all the advent calendar doors this morning :)

nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 09:24

girlsyearapart - I'll just repeat what you said!
apart from the fact that the bloody twinges stopped almost completely once I got into bed.

Lower back pain is annoying the hell out of me - it's almost constant.
and my MW appt is 10 past 1 this afternoon. and i quite like my MW.

Now I've got up, though, I've got an ache around my middle, so maybe I shouldn't have gone to bed at all! Shock

I'm getting bored now....

Thanks for all signing in! Grin
lovely to see some new faces.

I like the idea of the cervix opening like an advent calendar! Grin (as long as it doesn't take 24 days to do so..... Hmm )

I just know that after a week of this thread, you're all going to start thinking i'm one of those elaborate trolls who post for a couple of years having completely made up a life and am not really pg at all..... Grin

cat is begging me for food. I'll sign on again when I get to work.
Sorry there's no action.

Work?? Bloody hell your a trooper, i'm sat feeling very bruised sore and sorry for myself waiting for my DH to bring me a starbucks home from the school run. Going to yoga later and having acupuncture at 5 going to ring MW for that sweep she promised me. Good luck today and keep us posted. I'm glad you've started this thread there is no way i'd start this thread for the very reason you've mentioned people would still be here 2 weeks from now rather pissed off with me for a baby no show so very glad you have! and i bet you easily produce a baby by Sunday.

Put your feet up though woman.

youtalkintome · 01/12/2011 09:40

Good god that should have been you're a trooper Blush need to slow down hands and engage brain.

Thumbwitch · 01/12/2011 09:59

you're not going for the charming visual of your bits opening like a lotus flower, then, nickel? That was in my hypnobirthing thing, that was - I forgot it completely in among begging to be shot... Grin

nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 10:42

I'm not working by choice! Grin

I've arrived at work and opened up.
(also been greeted by "demands for payment" from a couple of suppliers - tough, you'll have to wait till I've got the money - ISA 1 should be on its way into my bank account- ISA2 is being paid by cheque. :( )

The walk into work was interesting, to say the least - felt like that elastic band was being pulled across while I was walking!
I'm hoping this is a sign...

(there seem to be a lot of those recently....Hmm )

Also got a text from my big sister this morning saying Isbn has to be out before Saturday, cos she's going to London and needs to know the name so she can buy a jigsaw from Covent Garden. (ooh, hope it's a dinosaur one!)

nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 10:43

ah, sod, all of my water glasses are empty. now I have to mount the stairs to re-fill

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 10:43

thumby - i might adopt the "begging to be shot" stance.

MollyintheMoon · 01/12/2011 10:46

Ooh a birth thread. Grin

Try walking up and down the stairs sideways. It's supposed to help, honest.

HugosGoatee · 01/12/2011 10:54

Have you got raspberry leaf tea to sip while at work?

And no harm in doing some pelvic floor exercises Smile

TheSmallPrint · 01/12/2011 10:56

Nickel go home and sit on your ball, I have images of a dramatic hollywood style waters breaking scenario in the middle of the shop. Grin

TheSmallPrint · 01/12/2011 10:56

elastic band is a sign - go home!!

nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 10:57

I can't go home!
I've only got my friend for a week, and I need to make sure it's worth her coming before I summon her!

I've got to go up the stairs, so I will do so sideways (It might be easier to fit my feet on the steps!)

OP posts:
girlsyearapart · 01/12/2011 11:07

Good sign- midwife who I don't like wasn't there today & was instead a nice midwife who says I'm 3/5 engaged & to keep active today.

She said she d be very suprised if I make it to the 40 wk apt & reckons next couple of days..

Let's see what your midwife says nickel. What kind of shop is it?

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 11:07

Morning nickelbabe. I am fairly new to Mumsnet but I gather that you own a bookshop and this is your first baby? Feel like I should know you a bit better if I am on you birth thread! Feel I am intruding a bit.
