I'm getting really impatient, and Isbn is showing no signs of wanting to be born.

So far:
I am 40+4 today (was due on Saturday)
I am very heavy.
Isbn is currently residing on my bladder, and also a nerve on my left-hand-side hip.
It feels the lowest it has been, and I can't decide whether the tightenings are Isbn's bottom or muscles doing something.
For the past couple of days, I've been feeling sick, like morning sickness, and food has been giving me massive heartburn.

Don't get your hopes up, but I thought it would be a good idea to start the thread, because DH isn't technical enough to start one when the time comes (and is indeed very hesitant about even posting on it)

I think the Hungry caterpillar isn't as interactive as other books of its ilk.
you can get the hungry caterpillar in a finger puppet version, where you put the caterpillar through the holes, and the pop-up version is just incredible Wink

I've been lurking nickel, but wanted to mark my place say that my second labour started with period pains, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it happens soon!

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 06/12/2011 13:09

But is the butterfly still upside down at the end?? Cos if it is, I don't care how interactive etc. it is - that upside down butterfly annoys hell out of me!!

Nickel - there is a reasonable chance this thread is going to fill up before you produce. Perhaps if you report your own OP and ask MNHQ nicely, they'll extend it beyond 1000 posts for you - or you'll have to start another one. Xmas Smile

Mind you - icky periody type feelings sound promising....

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 13:12

well Confused

i have just had a couple of tightenings, and when I went to feel where it was tight, it didn't feel tight to my hand.
that's the first time that's happened. Normally, a tightening has felt tight to me as well as to my tummy.

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 13:13

yes, the butterfly is upside down.
even Eric Carle himself acknowledged this.
(you could always chop it out and put it back in the right way up!!)

I think everyone should report the thread and ask for it to be extended.
although, sod's law is telling me Isbn will wait till the thread's full and then start.

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 06/12/2011 13:16

If even he knows, why the blazes can't he get the publishers to change it? must be thousands of mildly irritated parents and confused children out there because of it!!

We'll give you a few more posts, see how your tightenings go, and then ask MNHQ Xmas Smile

EdlessAllenPoe · 06/12/2011 13:17

get up and stomp about the shop, see if you can make it happen again...

likes being bossy

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 06/12/2011 13:17

can't chop it out cos the head's on the top. I'd have to carefully carve the wings out and turn them the right way up. I could just paint over the wings, I suppose, and make them the right way up...

Blatherskite · 06/12/2011 13:18

Not tight tightenings sounds promising.

C'mon isbn!

EdlessAllenPoe · 06/12/2011 13:18

i had a chines-and-english Hungry Little Caterpillar. it was one of my favourite books, (ee tiao show-tzao..)

in Chinese he is a Mao-Mao-Chung (hairy-hairy-bug)

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 13:22

can't you just pretend it's flying upside down? like loop-the-loop?

I am unpacking a box that i've deliberately put on the floor.

I might make DH dance with me later. (he likes dancing, but feels a bit daftwhen it's in the shop and there's no proper music playing! Grin )

Hooray for Stripey! Massive congratulations to you. A lovely baby girl Smile

Nickel wotcha love. This is fun isn't it?

I saw the consultant (except it was just a Reg) yesterday who said induction asap as boy is big and blah blah blah other reasons... went out to reception to make the appointment and next Monday is all they can do. So i will be 40+12 Hmm My husband said " So my wife can just bleed to death on the front room carpet in the mean time then?".

I called my midwife who said to keep the other appointment (she made for me had i not been able to attend yesterday's) on Wednesday. So i will see what the consultant says then. Dontcha just love the system.

Scare the bejesus out of you and then at the 11th hour do nothing. Am a bit pissy today.

PositiveAttitude · 06/12/2011 13:28

Nickel can you open another thread. I dont think MN will extend to the amount of "Congratulations" you will get when Isbn eventually appears!

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 13:33

ignore the thing about big babies - there are countless on here where they say that and it turns out to be normal or small!

why would you bleed to death? what's happened?

I can't open another thread until the baby's born

Thanks for all the reassurances about c-sections :)

Alas out her in Spain DH won't be with me for an emergency one, only a planned. I know the baby will take my mind off being stitched up, but my sis-in-law had her daughter waved at her across the screen then whisked away due to respiratory problems (quite common and no lasting effects :) ) she was out at 3.30pm but couldn't see her newborn until 10 that night!! Her DP MIL and FIL were flitting back and forth between viewing room (or whatever they are - ICU?) and her with photos on their mobile phones!!!!!!!!

I know, I know, the health of us both is paramount and I'll soon be home with the little headbanger (he keeps headbanging my pelvic floor, ouch!)... but it's still worrying :(

I've just had a hot chocolate so thick your spoon can stand up and a croissant for a mid-morning 'snack' to take my mind off it :o highly recommended

usingapseudonym · 06/12/2011 13:45

Oh sorry Vamos - had forgotten you were in a different country, sounds like they do do it differently from the UK then :( I'm sure induction will go well though :) fingers and everything else crossed

I have the Octonauts Christmas special on for the billionth time and thinking what to do with the rest of the day....!

I want a baby!!! (Yes at pre-school pick up EVERYONE was saying things like "still here then...")

largeginandtonic · 06/12/2011 13:45

Oh i do have giant babies, i know that. They get bigger everytime. I didn't need a consultant to tell me that Grin

It is the 8th baby so my risk of PPH goes up considerably. Rapid deliveries and far from hospital mean i really need to be in hospital when labour starts. Hence controlled induction. His head is still high so i am suspicious about his head actually fitting in the pelvis...

All good fun, eh?

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 14:02

A guy from church has been in checking if anything's happened - it's his wife's Ladies' Fellowship meeting today, and she has been ordered to report. [groan]
(i don't mind - this couple is one of the nice people at church who spoke to me even before I became the organist's wife! Grin)

Still nothing Nickel! I'm signing in everyday to check. Come on ISBN!

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 14:41

aw.
i was about to say that i'm getting a few tightenings across the bottom of the bump, and some of them feel like my urethra is being stabbed.
(i was getting this last night, and I was convinced I had a uti!)

OP posts:
lostinwales · 06/12/2011 14:47

Go nickel I am going off to take DS3 for an op, we are staying in a Premier Inn tonight and I'm going to have to pay them for their crummy wifi now Good luck, I don't think it will be long now, snuggly lovely newborn thoughts to you, see you on the other side Grin

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 14:57

thanks Grin
(i can't see another side to this. fee like it's destined never to happen!!
I don't want them to have to pull it out of me!)

I need advice from Cervix really (had a prod around this morning, but have no clue what I'm supposed to be feeling for! It just felt normal to me....)

OP posts:
FellatioNelson · 06/12/2011 15:03

Pah! You and yer fake tightenings. Don't think we are falling for that old line any more. Heard it all before, yada yada yada. Grin
