I'm getting really impatient, and Isbn is showing no signs of wanting to be born.

So far:
I am 40+4 today (was due on Saturday)
I am very heavy.
Isbn is currently residing on my bladder, and also a nerve on my left-hand-side hip.
It feels the lowest it has been, and I can't decide whether the tightenings are Isbn's bottom or muscles doing something.
For the past couple of days, I've been feeling sick, like morning sickness, and food has been giving me massive heartburn.

Don't get your hopes up, but I thought it would be a good idea to start the thread, because DH isn't technical enough to start one when the time comes (and is indeed very hesitant about even posting on it)

you are right one both counts.
lovely to meet you! Grin

girls - glad you had a nice midwife. :)

I hope my midwife doesn't tell me off today (she is lovely, but she keeps telling em to rest, and if I tell her I've been having the twinges, she'll try to make me go straight home - thankfully it's DH's day off, so he'll be looking after the shop during my appt... but he wants to go see his mum this afternoon!)

It's a children's bookshop. (rather too quiet at the moment, though...)

Thanks nickelbabe. I have two sons 9 and 12. 24 hour labour with DS1 and 35 minutes with DS2. V excited for you. Grin

thanksamillion · 01/12/2011 11:29

marking my place nickel Grin. Hoping the twinges turn into something more before too long. btw I noticed earlier you said no sweep - it really helped me along with DD1

LadyInPink · 01/12/2011 11:38

Hopefully sex with your DH last night has 'swept' you enough - his cum is supposed to soften the cervix or some such thing. Hope MW appoint goes well later and that you are fully engaged and maybe even fully effaced.

nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 11:41

That's it, Lippy, I'm hoping for natural methods to move it along!
I don't want any interference (unless absolutely necessary)

LadyInPink · 01/12/2011 11:51

Natural is great if it works but don't be a martyr my lovelie and take the help if it is offered. I wanted DD at home with no pain relief but had the opposite birth story in the end as nature wasn't doing its job (waters had already long gone and i'd got an infection) So long as you're progressing then natural is fine. Do you have a birth plan?

nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 11:53

yes, if anything bad happens, then I will "do as i'm told"
Until the unforseeable problems occur, then I'm doing ti as naturally as I can. :)

I sort of have a birth plan. It goes "leave me alone to get on with it, thanks!"

That's my girl Grin |Great attitude!

YougreatChristmaspudding · 01/12/2011 12:00

Nickel - get thee walking up and down the stairs sideways :) and when you get a moment to yourself (preferably not in the shop window) get twiddling those nips!

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 12:01

Eating pineapple and sipping rasberry leaf tea whilst walking up and down the stairs sideways twiddling your nipples. There's a plan..........

nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 12:14

I have walked down the stairs sideways, but kept forgetting when I went upstairs.
It feels very weird (and I'm not convinced I'm doing it right)

I'm sure i'm still getting twinges.
God knows what I'm supposed to make of them.

Wonder what the MW will say when I see her.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 12:15

You know she might suggest a sweep don't you?

YougreatChristmaspudding · 01/12/2011 12:20

She will say you are in early labour and if you ask nicely she will have a poke about to really get things going.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 12:21

Poke about Grin

largeginandtonic · 01/12/2011 12:22

Ooh go Nickelbabe. Hope it IS labour for you.

I am 40+1 today. Have been swept up to my eyeballs by the midwife 3 fricking times this week and still no boy. I fear he is hanging in there by his fngernails. Ton of show today though so maybe something happening?

NICEyNice · 01/12/2011 12:33

Nickelbabe, I feel the need to complain.

I was hoping we'd be getting a BBC style live thread; we'd find big brotheresque webcam feeds, contributions from journalists who have interviewed 'experts' in the field pointlessly, quotes from family and friends on how you are coping to further embarrass you. Maybe even a comment from one of your customers!

I hope we can expect a quote from your Midwife to your adoring fans later!!! Wink

nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 12:35

I wonder...
I'll let her poke if it is labour.
otherwise she can leave me alone.

DH has just said "it's going to be slow and precise like me, isn't it?! Grin"
I replied "i want it to be like me! It's time to come out now! get it done!"

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 12:36

I think she will have to have a rummage about to check it's labour. Sad

nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 12:36

Nicey - i'll do my best. At the moment, I am more like BBC News 24 - "well, here we are at the shop - it looks like there might be a twinge! yes, a small twinge - back to the studio and we'll update again when there's another twinge"

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 01/12/2011 12:36

oh, sparkly that doesn't help! ShockGrin

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 01/12/2011 12:39

Oh get her to poke about a bit. Honestly. It would be satisfying to know if you are doing anything down there. If not you can just ignore and carry on.

Just be wary when she holds the baby down and pushes while doing it < voice of experience >

You are never going to let her now are you Grin

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 12:40

IIRC the midwife and the student midwife had a rummage with DS2. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2011 12:41

Don't tell her about that bit large!
