I'm getting really impatient, and Isbn is showing no signs of wanting to be born.

So far:
I am 40+4 today (was due on Saturday)
I am very heavy.
Isbn is currently residing on my bladder, and also a nerve on my left-hand-side hip.
It feels the lowest it has been, and I can't decide whether the tightenings are Isbn's bottom or muscles doing something.
For the past couple of days, I've been feeling sick, like morning sickness, and food has been giving me massive heartburn.

Don't get your hopes up, but I thought it would be a good idea to start the thread, because DH isn't technical enough to start one when the time comes (and is indeed very hesitant about even posting on it)

Vamos - my induction led to a c section (I'm sure yours wont) but just to reassure you even though I had an "emergency" c section my husband was still able to quickly scrub and come - a lot of emergencies still have time for that as they do get an inkling something might happen. If it was really really really quick they would be fab - honest! I was a basket case by the time I went in but the best thing is it only takes a few minutes to actually get the baby out, so its really really really quick and then you are thinking about baby not what they are doing (that then takes a while to put together but they have the baby out which is the main thing :))

I suspect I might end up with induction again as I'm nearly 42 weeks but I'm really hoping to stay out of theatre this time too!!

My sickness went after eating breakfast and I feel fine. Almost wouldn't know I was pregnant. I have dropped child off at pre-school and thinking about more sleep....!!

Hope to have some news soon...

homeaway · 06/12/2011 09:56

Congratulations stripey. Nickle why dont you go and pamper yourself today after work it might make you feel better ( ok ,I know not as good as having baby nickle but...) .

Hohohomouse · 06/12/2011 10:17

Oh vamos, totally feel for you.
I have never been in hospital myself apart from to visit an elderly relative. It's the fear of the unknown that's the worst. Hopefully with an induction it'll be bish, bosh, bash and you'll be out ASAP with your Pea and home having cuddles before you know it. Good luck!

NorksAreMessy · 06/12/2011 10:25

OK, Nickel I am trying another approach. I have just ordered some Christmas presents from your lovely shop. Please bustle about getting the order ready. Hopefully some of it is on high shelves requiring a trampoline to reach. Or in a box on the floor, needing the all-fours stance again.

Sending labour-y best wishes and PayPal payment Xmas Smile

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 06/12/2011 10:43

Congratulations Stripey, welcome to baby Stripe, is that just a line then?
Come on Nickel! I'm at a wedding on Saturday and won't be able to check my phone so you need to have it by then!

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 10:51

how the fuck did you order the developmental caterpillar? that's been off the system for ages.
Confused
Which page was it? I cleared it off characters and the toys list ConfusedConfused
I will double-check in the store room for you, but I'm pretty sure they've sold out :(

OP posts:
NorksAreMessy · 06/12/2011 10:56

OH, have I induced a labour-producing rage / problem???
I think it was on the characters' page. Off you go and bounce atround the stock room

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 11:00

I'll try my best....

don't worry, if not. I understand.

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 11:08

god the woman who has just left is soooo boring.
she just chats for about an hour about nothing .
I drift off in the middle then realise that she's still talking. Blush

I have been in hospital, twice, and I didn't enjoy the experience either time.
The first time i was 16 and had to stay in for a few days because they couldn't drain my quinsy; the second time was because i broke my arm and had to have an external fixator, which meant being put under, and then staying there for 2 weeks.
Don't get me wrong, the nurses were amazing, and so lovely , taking time to talk even though they were rushed off their feet.
the consultant for my fixator was a knobhead - i felt like he found it tedious to explain anything to me, like I've had one of these before!!
And I felt the attitude was pretty similar when I went for my scans - they don't explain anything and just treat you like a cadaver!

It's the way they treat it all like a standard routine that puts me off - like you as a person don't matter, they're just doing their medical stuff. That's one of the reasons why I want a homebirth, because in my own home, I'm in control, not the medics.

Nickel - how are things going for the shop this Christmas (other then caterpillar issues!!)?

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 11:15

Norks - looks like it's still available from the supplier, so I will order it.
don't panic.

It's quite quiet, but I had a good day yesterday, and I've just sold £77.50 of books through a school fair - i told them I'd give them 10% commission, but I gave them £10, which they were happy with.
that's nice - i didn't even have to do any work for that (well, apart from pack up all the books and print lists and prices etc! Grin )

NorksAreMessy · 06/12/2011 11:44

Lovely Nickel is lovely!!!!

Thank you. I am not panicking. I have faith in Caterpillars

usingapseudonym · 06/12/2011 11:50

So er - what's this development caterpillar and do we all need one?!

I've written some christmas cards and resigned myself to signing "and bump". If I leave it until after the baby is out I'm not going to have time or energy to do it and as it is most of them wont get done!!

I'm about to go get child from pre-school so wondering abour a brisk afternoon walk...!

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 11:55

It's the toy at the top of this page
they are fab. :)

Congratulations on DD stripey

Hope you are well nickel.

Baby nickel, come on !

TheOriginalFAB · 06/12/2011 12:41

vamos I can also reassure you that DH was with me when I had my emergency section. They put the spinal block in but didn't start anything crucial until they found DH. Poor thing was worried sick as they told him to go and change and he didn't know where they had taken me off too.

EdlessAllenPoe · 06/12/2011 12:46

i went to +10 the last two times...but didn't really get that much in the way of advance warning. actually the last time, we were in the middle of house renovations and right up to 41 weeks i didn't have a bedroom ready, and prior to 40, no bathroom. If sods law worked, DD2 would have been earlier....

the 'routine' induction date at our local trust is +14 though, and they are happy to attend a Home birth to that point (although i know my rights, blah blah, it is much more comfortable/ less stressful to be within that time)

EdlessAllenPoe · 06/12/2011 12:50

if it's any comfort, i think you are at about average gestation for a winter baby from a first-time white English woman.

I was really hoping buggering off from the thread and coming back to it would make you give birth. didn't work....

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 12:51

thanks, that is a comfort. :)

I'm +10 today. It's still driving me mad.
and we don't have a cot.

OP posts:
LadyWellian · 06/12/2011 12:55

I won't mention the extreeeeme degree of lateness of my DD again, but we were still able to have a home birth.

Well I say 'still'; we hadn't actually planned one, but there you go.

LadyWellian · 06/12/2011 12:56

Oh, and you don't need a cot. Have you seen the size of those things? We didn't put DD in hers until she was several months, and she still looked like a lone pea on a plate.

usingapseudonym · 06/12/2011 13:01

I like the caterpillar. I want one! I have the hungry caterpillar book but my toddler really isn't interested. She loves "peepo" and many of the other classics but not the caterpillar one :(

Your lovely child is going to be spoilt for choice with books :)

Hope your day is going ok. I'm feeling nauseas and just ready for bed. I think my toddler is going to get cbeebies so I can at least sit still (bad mummy but at least she has had a morning of running around).

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 13:03

Lady - the cot issue is supposed to be one of those Sod's Law things that triggers labour Grin

I do feel like I'm starting a period right now - all icky and achy in my lower belly.
