Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

Did anyone have a beautiful baby last night then, Inzi? Clove? Dh and I went through our names shortlist last night but we dont love anything as much as Florence, and our dd's have been calling the bump Florence for months now so its pretty stuck. I dont know why its annoyed me so much, most people know we've had a name picked out all along, they just dont know what it is. Come along August babies, lets be having some of you today!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/08/2010 08:10

Glad you had a lovely meal Roz14 :)

Sounds really promising cloveofhislife and inzidoodle, waiting to hear your news!

It's really dark this morning, because of so much rain, but still makes me think of those horrible mornings getting up in the dark through the winter. Miserable start to the day :(

tweakers · 26/08/2010 08:35

ooh we might have some babies on their way!! not mine i might add though!

last night it felt like Pea pinched my fanjo a couple of times. Really made me wince, DH was rather concerned!

i'm feeling really dizzy this morning. Not quite sure what that's all about Hmm

thanks for comments about our names Smile

happy due date roz, iniz and emma

well i've got a busy day planned of sitting on the sofa with DS watching tv Blush

EmmaRoyd · 26/08/2010 08:52

morning everyone. Let's hope we see some babies today. I'm feeling terrible for whinging and moaning and being grumpy yesterday. My friend has had her baby 8 weeks early with a hole in his heart Sad and now I realise I should count my blessings rather than sit here complaining that I'm fed up of waiting.

EmmaRoyd · 26/08/2010 08:58

On the subject of names, I'm glad we aren't the only ones still deciding. It's such a huge responsibility isn't it! It must be so annoying that the Cameron's have pinched your first choice.

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 09:03

Anybody heard how Iniz is getting on? If she doesn't post and update this morning, I would assume today is the day for her. What about Clove she was showing good signs as well - it is all very exciting. Hopefully we will have 4 smileys on the list tonight/tomorrow. It feels like the babies are slowly starting to make an appearance Smile.

Cinnamon - the meal was lovely and I had a great day Smile. I know what you mean about the dark mornings. What has happened to the summer. The weather seems to have been pants right the way through August where I live.

Lovesaruby - I know what you mean Lovesaruby. I am trying not to let it affect thmy chosen names but to me it feels like she has had her so close to our due dates, that people are going to assume that me and DH have picked it because of the Camerons (silly really, but still a concern).

Deep down though, I really dont care if thats what I decide to go with. Eventually people wont remember if you had the baby before or after them and so wont make the connection and he will not be PM forever. It is just the increase in popularity that I am not keen on. I don't mind reasonably popular names, it is just when they become so popular that you get 2 or 3 in a school class. Do you think that it will become that popular???Hmm

Morning Emma. I hope your friends baby is alright. It does put things into perspective doesn't it. Im sure the baby will be fine and well cared for in the hospital.

By the way happy due date. I know, this name thing is starting to drive me crazy, it is all I think about at the moment. I go to bed thinking Esther or Florence, Beatrice or Beatrix. Then somebody (usually family members) says something really negative (not constructive) and I am back to square 1 again.

I just want to make sure I make the right choice. Like I said in another thread, my DS had his initial chosen name for 4 days, then we changed it, registered him, then spent weeks worried that we rushed into the second name and that we maybe should have gone with the first Confused Confused Confused.

I really want to try and avoid that feeling of uncertainty when the baby is here if possible. By the way, I do like my sons name, it is a really simple traditional name but I did go through a few weeks thinking I had made the wrong choice. It really suits him though and I can't imagine him now being called anything else Smile

There might be lots of people that were considering Florence who change their mind now because of the Camerons? They don't seem to be a particularly popular couple, especially on this site Wink. Anyway like you say, it's only because its in the news right now, people will soon forget the connection. You will just have a really annoying period of telling people your baby's name and them saying.. "oh like the camerons".

EmmaRoyd · 26/08/2010 09:27

I wish we had names that we've always loved so we know we won't go off them. DD's name was chosen about a week before she was born and we spent the next few weeks being worried that we had chosen the wrong name in a hurry due to the pressure of making an annoucement. I find the whole baby name process really painful, mostly because I come up with all the suggestions and DH just says 'hate it' or 'it's ok I suppose' but never comes up with any suggestions himself Angry.

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 09:45

That sounds just like me DH. He just answers "yes" or "nooooo" or "definately not...it reminds me of...". Again nothing constructive really.

I think the names you have chosen are lovely. Alice is timeless and classic. It is a really, really beautiful name. So is Felicity - you dont have to give her a NN. I have got two brothers both with long name. One chooses to use a NN, even though nobody in the family uses it and the other one corrects people everytime they try to shorten it. Felicity is a lovely name overall.

Your boys choices are great too. I know I should listen to my own advice but dont let people put you off. Just focus on what you think is right for the baby when it arrives.

Like I said, what I am trying not to do is a total u turn at the last minute due to the worry that people don't like the name or think it is too different Smile

Cosmosis · 26/08/2010 09:56

Morning all, sounds like there maybe some more babies on the way soon!

I'm glad we're not the only ones with a name dilemma, our boys name has been chosen for ages but DH came home last night and thinks he has changed his mind Angry so I told him, fine, come up with an alternative. But of course he can't Hmm

growingbump2 · 26/08/2010 10:04

Morning everyone, can't believe I still don't have my baby here yet at 6 days late! Had a sweep yesterday by consultant, it was fine at the time but so sore now, he was pushing on my bump to get babies head down low enough to do sweep and couldn't get it in the end, nothing happening today except very sore braxton hicks! Hope to see some more babies arriving soon - did expect a little bit more from the full moon. On a cheerier note am going to go out and enjoy the sunshine - may take DS to the beach!

EmmaRoyd · 26/08/2010 10:05

morning growingbump2 sunshine?? beach?? where are you? I'm in South London and its pissing down here.

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 10:44

Growingbump2 - SUNSHINE? - Emma's in South London, Im in South Yorkshire. Are you in the South of France??? Grin. Only jelous, it has been peeing it down up here too.

Im sorry your sweep didnt have a positive affect. I have never had one and the thought of having one does scare me a little. Im sure you wont be long now though Smile

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 10:47

Cosimos - that sounds just like my DH too. He hasn't come back and said I don't want that name anymore but he never makes any real suggestions, just points out the negatives to the names - so frustartaing!

I'm in a dilemma about having a sweep. With DD my first sweep was uncomfortable, my second a few days later was excruciating. Neither had any effect and I was eventually induced. This time round I swore I would let nature do its thing and refuse to have one at all, however MW is saying its different with your second and more likely to work. Is that true? I feel myself being railroaded.

EmmaRoyd · 26/08/2010 10:56

Last time I also ate pineapple, drank raspberry tea, had two sessions of acupuncture, ate a vindaloo (which resulted in projectile vomiting but no baby) and perish the thought, I even had sex Wink. The only think I'll even consider this time round is the pineapple Grin.

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 11:41

Inzidoodle - oh no - really thought you would have been off to the hospiatal by now. Try the pineaple. It hasn't worked for me but you never know. If DH is off today, I would seriously think about some seious 'loving' this may do the trick at this point Wink

Emma - was it that bad - the sweep, not the sex!!!. The thought of it really makes me go all funny Hmm. The only thing that seemed to get my labour starting was bouncing (like on a space hopper) on my birthing ball. My waters broke a few hours after doing this.

pain wise, the first one was just like a slightly clumsy smear test, just uncomfortable. The second one was a male midwife, I don't know if that was anything to do with it but he really seemed to go for it. I thought I was going to pass out and DH who was in the room went a strange shade of pale green.

tweakers · 26/08/2010 13:22

i hate to give you bad news girls, but for pineapple to work you have to eat lots and lots of them all in a day. We're talking at least 10 fresh pineapples Confused

had a lovely nap with DS, feeling a bit more with it now! sorry to see we haven't had any babies in my absence, they'll be here soon though

cinnamongreyhound · 26/08/2010 13:39

That's rubbish inzidoodle :(

My DH is the same EmmaRoyd won't suggest anything himself but isnt exactly enthusiastic about anything I suggest. I have two friends who had a sweep at 7 days overdue, both were 2-3cm dilated with soft cervix and both went into labour the next day with their second so could be true? Have to make your own decision though, I will be offered one at 40+7 and one at 40+10 and intend to accept them- anything is better than another induction!!!

I had a sweep with DS and my cervix was totally unfavourable so didn't work but it wasn't any worse than a smear Roz14.

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 13:44

Oh that is good to hear cinnamon. I am such a wimp. What am I going to be like again in Labour???

By the way - not to be sexist but from my experience men seem to be rubbish at choosing baby names. My brother wound my SIL up no end with crazy names. We thought he was joking with his suggestions. He believed he was being imaginative Grin

On a slightly different subject, there is something in pineapple that is supposed to help joints too. I used to work with a Japanese couple and the husband had a knee problem and ate a pineapple every day, which he swears it was that that stopped his knee pain as he took nothing else so maybe pineapples are just very potent!
