Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

i'm also rather Envy that your mw is visiting you!! i'm still traipsing up to the clinic with DS in tow, including carrying him and pushchair up the stairs Hmm

tweakers · 25/08/2010 14:00

pleased your buns were good roz. But i have noticed you're not offering to share with us!

cinnamongreyhound · 25/08/2010 14:00

Sounds like a due date baby to me inzidoodle Grin

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 14:11

Blush - there is not that many to share now! I'll pay for all this over indulgence after the baby arrives and I am trying to shift the baby weight.

By the way inzidoodle - thanks for your earlier post. I am feeling much better and less stressed today. I was very, very hormonal yesterday but all calm again now - it is probably to do with eating all that cake.

Good luck with today. We will be thinking about you.

I have a recipe card from Tesco for brownies, maybe I'll make those this afternoon when 3 of the children have gone home- should keep the other 4 occupied for a bit Grin

cloveofhislife · 25/08/2010 14:37

Great news inzidoodle.
Had a large bloody show this afternoon and I am so achey!
Please be a sign that things are moving........

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 15:06

Lets hope so cloveofhislife. Things have got to start happening for us all soon. These August babies are becoming September babies.

Good luck to Inzidoodle and cloveofhislife - sounds like things are on the move for you both. Just had a sweep but wasnt great - midwife pretty pesimistic, just said my cervix looks like she'd expect it to after two babies and that the babies head was so far away it was in the next town (gee thanks!). Booked to have another on Friday. And, just to add insult to injury when she tried to book induction for Sunday, she was told the ward was closed on Sunday (really? whats that about?!) and fully booked for inductions on Monday leaving me to go in Tuesday to have a baby and be back and ready for the school runs on Thursday. Am really upset and beyond angry normally Id have a glass of wine and chill but oh yep, I cant do that, cos im STILL pregnant..(shuffles off to growl and be very, very moody!)

EmmaRoyd · 25/08/2010 15:59

That's ok Roz14, you sound like me, due any day and still throwing new names into the mix Wink. Inzidoodle I am also jealous, I just walked in the rain to my midwife appointment and realised it's tomorrow DOH!! I asked if she would see me anyway but she wouldn't. Oh well perhaps the walk has done some good.

EmmaRoyd · 25/08/2010 16:05

sorry to hear that lovesaruby but you never know, it might happen naturally in those extra couple of days which would be good wouldn't it?.

tweakers · 25/08/2010 17:08

lovesaruby... a glass of wine is really not going to hurt now, i say go for it! sounds like you deserve one!

well i'm back from the hospital for my bloody tests and managed to keep my increased surges hidden from bro Smile Walking really does bring them on! They have, of course, completely stopped since getting home though

lovesaruby · 25/08/2010 19:28

I am going to indulge in a glass of wine tweakers - as Ive just noticed that the bloody Camerons have named their daughter Florence. Florence has been our name since 20 week scan and was hoping that it wouldnt become too popular but thats clearly not going to happen now - the world will be flooded with Florences....I know the hormones arent helping but today has been pants!

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 19:56

I feel your frustartion lovesbury. Esther, Florence and Beatrice/trix are on the top of my short list. I love the name Florence and it was my DH who came in from work and told me that that was what they had decided to call her. This as really pissed me off a little even though I know knowbody alone can bag a name but it is going to make it soooo popular now!

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 19:57

My spelling has become shocking Blush - I mean nobody!!! and Im supposed to be a teacher!

porcamiseria · 25/08/2010 20:07

I am so sorry the camerons stole your baby name, that sucks! has it put you off name completely?

my hips/pelvis really hurt, what does that mean??? think baby is down and heavy

seeing midwife tomorrow, might get her to have a rummage? still feeling shy about it (fanjo). ha ha that will change eh!

tweakers · 25/08/2010 20:20

sorry porca but your description of your mw having a 'rummage' really made me smile! and yes, it certainly will change! you'll be prancing around in the full throes of labour, completely naked and it'll only be a few months later when you think about it and wonder how you got from being fully clothed to naked abandonment!

lovesbury, as roz said, has it completely put you off? I think its a lovely name

ps Roz, beatrice was on our list but i think DH has crossed it off recently Hmm But i think its a beautiful name

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 21:25

Porca - No it hasn't completely put me off, just tarnished it a little for me. I would still use it if she looked like a Florence above the other two names.

I am also getting a lot of back ache and pelvic pain this evening but I have had this before so trying not to focus on it too much. If you feel differnt than you have been (more pressure in the pelvis) I would say the baby is engaging but that is just my opinion!

Tweakers - would your DH reconsider or have you both got a name you both agree on - you dont have to say what name?

OP posts:
tweakers · 25/08/2010 21:34

we have a name that I absolutely love, that goes really well with our son's name and DH likes intermittently Hmm But then he was like that with DS's name until he was actually born! I really want to call her Penelope. DH prefers Anabel. I do like Anabel but i know too many stuck-up Anna's and its a bit close for my liking

snap re back-ache! Having quite a few surges too but hey, she's not going to be here til the 10th so plenty of time yet Wink

cloveofhislife · 25/08/2010 22:25

Hey girls.
Thought I'd check in and see how you're all doing.
I've been having some painful contractions since late this afternoon, but they aren't really developing into anything regular.
There are more or less 8 - 10 minutes apart and I have to breath through them and then they stop for 1/2 an hour!
What's that about?
I haven't had contractions that I have to breath through yet, only strong BH so I was thinking after my bloody show this morning that this could be it.
Just hate that they get started and then slow right down again! Arghh!
does this happen more with subsequent births?
I'm going to watch some tv on my birthing ball I think, then try and get some sleep if they don't amount to anything.
Maybe I'll check in later if there is anyone up.

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 22:33

Both of those are beautiful names. I really dont think you can go wrong with either of them. I know a 3 year old called Penny (I dont know if you like that nn) and it really suits her. Anabel was on our list as an alternative to Isabelle which we thought was a little too popular (not that that is a bad thing) - good choices tweakers.

It is hard though when a name is too closely linked to people/persons you don't like. I have had the same problem in the past.

My back ache is really starting to hurt now but I am still not trying to read too much into it. I have had no show and the head wasn't even engaged last week at my MW's appointment. Glad you got your blood tests sorted today.

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 22:39

ooohhh - this is starting to get exciting clove.

I can't really suggest anything re contractions because for some reason I can't remember much about the contractions I got with my DS - just that they hurt!!!

Im sure though that tonight will be your night and you will be battling it out with inzidooldle to get that third smiley face.

Good luck inzidoodle - I am so excited for you. Birthday meal went really well thanks. I have just over indulged all day - but hey, thats what birthdays are for Wink.

I have just realised it is your due day today, like mine. It looks like you are going to be one of the lucky ones who have their baby on their given due date - how good is that! I think mine is going to make me wait but thats ok. Im sure she will come when she is ready Smile. Let us know how everything goes.

By the way, I am from Sheffield (South Yorkshire).
