come on Aitch we are waiting........

weblette · 17/02/2012 18:19

I know Scott and asked him a few weeks ago how things were going. Unfortunately they had manufacturing problems so didn't want to bring something unsatisfactory to market.
He's tied up with other projects but I'll ask him next time I see him what's going on.

millimat · 17/02/2012 20:49

But what about Aitch? Has he / she left the country?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 19/02/2012 20:44

don't be ridiculous, of course i haven't left the country... who would write the roundup? Grin

i haven't been camping yet, obv, because the bit of the country i live in is farking freezing. they sent me one last year but i haven't used it yet because one thing and another meant that they didn't get it to me until after my last trip du saison...

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 19/02/2012 20:45

arf at Sparkly being pissed off that i amn't heading out camping in SCOTLAND IN NOVEMBER to review it for her. Shock

Slubberdegullion · 19/02/2012 20:48

YEAH AITCH.

Pull your finger out woman. Stop dripping about making excuses about the weather. Pfft. Decent vest and a bit of goretex and CRACK ON WITH IT.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 19/02/2012 20:51

lolol. Grin i am not that camper.

Slubberdegullion · 19/02/2012 20:53

At the very least you could attach it to the car and then stand in it, a la the sales pitch.
With a photo.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 19/02/2012 20:58

do you know, that's the one thing the guy said on no account to do? seriously. he said that he'd put a solid thing into the trailer so that it could be stood on, and so it wasn't a test to be replicated.

no doubt i'd go right through. Grin

Slubberdegullion · 19/02/2012 21:11

Booo.

Well Safety First I suppose.

[disappointed]

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 29/04/2012 13:46

okaaaaaay.
my first interim report. weather is getting nicer so had a little play with it yesterday... unfortunately i've lost the instructions but have emailed to ask if they're online somewhere. (they don't seem to be). weirdly, the site still says they're out of stock, the fb page has gone as well... i'm guessing that this is because they weren't happy with the name, though, i had similar problems with my own fb page. there is a new page, but you seem to have to friend it, which means they've set it up wrongly.

had to go to my mum's house to fiddle with it, as i have no off-street parking so i need to practise before setting off from here. also cleaned out entire car of last year's camping shite... honestly... what a total arse of a job that was. my fuel economy must have been fucked all winter with all the gravel and sand i was carrying around.

  1. collapsed, it fits really nicely in the empty boot of a honda jazz. no obscuring rear view or anything. i have no idea why that would be of interest to you, though.
  1. i utterly failed to fit it without the instructions, HAR. put the buckles in the wrong way so they were sliding out... i've had a look at some cycle carrier instructions now and this seems to have been a rookie error on my part. they seem super-tight now that they're in the right way.

did anyone else buy one last year? am curious to know how they got on. am going to have to try again at my mum's hoose, obv. will report back. not sure about exactly where it's supposed to sit on the back, either, but am sure all will become clear when i get instructions. i really, really hope it works and everything is okay with Scott and co.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 21/05/2012 14:44

AND I LOVE IT. mucked around some more yesterday, it's a BRILLIANT product. now, wtf has happened to the manufacturer?

YellowDinosaur · 25/05/2012 21:19

Looked for this thread as I'd be interested in this but the link now goes to a holding page - does anyone know what's happened to them?

Jux · 25/05/2012 22:42

Has anyone mentioned the lights though? On some makes of car it could obscure your lights, so you'd have to have a bar for your lights, so you might as well get a tow-bar etc, etc.

On smaller cars it could affect the handling, especially if it is holding a full load.

These are things dh mentioned.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 27/05/2012 11:40

i honestly think it's a moot point, jux, as the business seems to have disappeared. which is a disaster as the product is a work of genius.

wasn't someone on here Scott's neighbour? could they find out what happened?

re the lights, on my mum mobile tremendously sporty and fabulous honda jazz, that's all fine. the box is really nice and neat, actually. we filled it up with tent and chairs and gubbins (so not terribly heavy but bulky iykwim) and on the short test run i did there was no appreciable difference in car handling. (but then as i'm not a man Jeremy Clarkson) i'm not sure i'd notice in any case. Will deffo check my tyre pressures etc though on journey as i would also tend to do with a loaded car for camping.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 27/05/2012 11:42

tailcrate.com/ this link is still working, so that's weird. but they're not answering emails.

Jux · 27/05/2012 12:52

It says there's a 6 week delay....

Looks like you may be the only person in the world who has one, Aitch!

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 27/05/2012 12:58

yes, but that message has been up since last year, believe me.
i really hope they can get whatever it is sorted.

Jux · 27/05/2012 13:16

Ah, Blush just seen the date of the op!!

ThreadWatcher · 28/05/2012 22:47

Just found this thread

The tail crate looks fab - I wonder what happened.
I was getting quite excited by the prospect of owning one and am now disappointed to see they dont see to be available anymore [sob]

T'would be fab for sleeping bags and sleeping mats. I would wrap them up in a plastic doo dah and thus hopefully not need a lid?
