Just back on and am so pleased that Aitch is getting one. I love companies that recognise that great customer service and word of mouth recommendations are worth their weight in gold.
I will be telling all at toddler group tomorrow about the Tail Crate, so many of us are having stay-cations/camping this year instead of going abroad I think loads of people would be interested.

As soon as I can convince DH that we need one I think I'll be getting one. I had looked at the Bak-Rak but we'd need a tow bar and they cost loads.

Aitch When you report back on the Tail Crate will you post something in Chat as well as in Camping - I'll miss it if its in Camping, I don't come in here often enough.

AitchTwoOh · 19/07/2011 22:03

sure, no problem, or i could even just PM you if you like... i'll probably just post on this thread, though.

Oh, hooray for Aitch and Tail-Crate. Can't wait to hear how you get on :)

ElasticNipples · 19/07/2011 23:38

yay!!!! well done aitch!

i would buy one but if its going to cost nearly £150 i could buy a good secondhand roof box (waterproof!). BUT £125 sounds just about right with lid. i hope you can do this tailcrate? i would like to point out that people cant afford luxuries in this climate and you would sell a whole lot more if the price is right.

SeenButNotHeard · 20/07/2011 00:12

Aitch - really am looking forward to hearing how you get on. dh is very impressed as an alternative to a roof box.

I have some concerns re lid, (or waterproof covering) security and, well, I guess I am struggling to trust that when doing 80 70mph down the motorway, things will stay where they should!

Fimbo · 20/07/2011 09:35

Well done everyone at Tailcrate and you too of course Aitch. Grin

And please please please please make one for bikes next. Ta

AdrianAtTailCrate · 20/07/2011 11:59

Hello again everyone.

I was away yesterday, and coming back to this much response is really incredible.

I will create a Facebook page as suggested, which will be great for updating people on Tail-Crate's progress as well as uploading photos once people begin getting around and about with their own Tail-Crate!

lovecat · 20/07/2011 12:27

Adrian, if you're still watching this page, we need something along the lines of a tailcrate but at quite short notice (we're going away Sunday morning). If we ordered it today, theoretically it should arrive Friday...

I think from the look of the pictures on the site that it would obscure our numberplate, and DH has lost mislaid his logbook (don't go there...) so can't prove he owns the car to get a back plate made... is this an insurmountable problem? Would love to buy one, but can't do it if we can't get the plate!

AitchTwoOh · 20/07/2011 12:37

before you do the FB page, Adrian, can i suggest that you add little Twitter and 'like' icons to go on your existing web-page? it's the work of minutes but will make it veh easy for spreading the word.

also, if i was you i would take all the questions that have come up on this thread and put them onto your FAQ... stuff about dogs etc is good. (if it was me i wouldn't even tidy up the English too much, tbh, people on here are pretty funny and a funny FAQ is Just More Fun to read. obv with Veh Serious answers, though. Grin)

bad link, should have said FB like

AdrianAtTailCrate · 20/07/2011 12:58

Thanks, Aitch. I will look into that.

Lovecat - Of course if you ordered one today It would arrive before Sunday.

With that said we are legally obliged to have proof of car ownership before we can supply a replacement registration plate. All I can suggest is that you can email us details of your vehicle, and perhaps a picture of the back of it, and we can advise if it does in fact obscure your number plate.

There is, of course, the alternative of miraculously finding your logbook!

Looking forward to your email.

lovecat · 20/07/2011 14:54

Thanks very much, Adrian, that's really helpful. If I can find our camera (DH has put it somewhere 'safe', it's no doubt with the logbook!) I will email you.

QueeferSutherland · 20/07/2011 16:40

Will it fit a car with a spoiler thingy on top of the boot door?

I fear it won't, as the bike rack is a bit dubious as it is.

It would fit DHs (smaller) car though.

I agree it would be good for gardeners, espesh for hauling manure about. (I'd buy one for that reason alone I think.)

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 20/07/2011 20:29

i want one ... and i don't camp, have much of a garden so no dump runs and only have one child ... but i still want one ... hooray for aitch (and tailcrate of course). Grin

AdrianAtTailCrate · 20/07/2011 22:18

A facebook page is up and running for Tail-Crate. Soon to follow will be a link from the website, so at any time feel free to join it. It will be a good way to update everyone on accessory availability, for example, or to answer more of your questions!

onetwoflea · 20/07/2011 22:58

Adrian & Scott,

great product - will solve my trailer or not dilema and take my camping kit. the store it dry in the garage ready for the next adventure! but must have lid included, both for weather proofing on the road and at the campsite; and security when parking / getting petrol on the journey. will order when you have lids included on your website.

AitchTwoOh · 21/07/2011 09:40

could we have a linky-link to the fb page, please? after you get 25 people you can change the name of the page to simply www.blahblahfacebooketc/tail-crate, which looks purtier, and i'm sure we can get you to 25 quite quickly.

AitchTwoOh · 21/07/2011 12:40

hahaha i know, both dds were asking if they could get a shot in it last night... cannot wait to see it in the flesh.

Thanks for the link Aitch, I've liked it too. Looks like a great product, can't wait to hear feedback.

Ceolas · 21/07/2011 21:08

Do I get a special prize for being the 25th like-er?! Grin

Sandalwood · 21/07/2011 21:40

ooo really looking forwards to seeing how you get on with it.

Does it have reflector strips, or anything for the vehicle behind to see it easily at night, when they pull up behind you at a stop? I guess that logo might be.
