I have totally fallen off the calorie counting bandwagon for the last half of 2025, and will be starting again on Jan 1st 2026.

My goal is to reach 64kg, I am currently 77kg.

Is anyone else starting in Jan and would like to join me?

There’s losing weight and there’s losing the will to live. 100 calories 🤯

I’m middle aged. I’m also not wanting to do anything that’ll negatively impact my bone or muscle mass and come back to bite me in 20 years.

That was just standard ! I didn’t find it that hard to be honest. Two weetabix for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and protein with loads of veg for dinner. I’ve never been a snacker and didn’t really drink at all then.

1200 is intense! Really impressive.

So far, my snacks of choice are mini babybel light (42 cal according to MFP) and satsumas (28 cal). And 70% dark choc 10g is 58 cal (and 10g is enough to satisfy my chocolate cravings!).

What are your snacks of choice? The little things that keep you going till the next real meal?

I don't really snack unless I'm absolutely starving. 1200 calories isn't a lot to play with and I'd rather have a higher calorie full meal.

It is flipping hard work so I would say I'm probably managing an 80/20 success rate. Weekends with a family of feeders is a challenge!

I get super hungry. There’s a thread about feeling pain with hunger, and this is something I definitely get. There’s no way I could stick to 1200 calories long enough to see any difference (not sure I’ll stick to 1600 long enough either).

We have done some meal prepping today. Made some “instant noodle” base (Zoe recipe) to go with edamame noodles, and some couscous salads. DH has made some cauliflower chocolate mousse (really tasty but surprisingly high calorie, does score well on Zoe though).

Hoping these will help.
