Calorie counting for 2026 🎉

Bookaholic73 · 14/12/2025 13:04

I have totally fallen off the calorie counting bandwagon for the last half of 2025, and will be starting again on Jan 1st 2026.

My goal is to reach 64kg, I am currently 77kg.

Is anyone else starting in Jan and would like to join me?

Hi can I join, I’m logging everything on my fitness pal.. it’s interesting how many calories booze has. Going to try to keep to 1590 a day and if I go over one day then to eat less the next..

I use the Nutracheck app and on the desktop version it tells me – in ruddy great big bold red writing 🙄– how many booze calories and units I've had in a week. Put it this way: it's making me massively cut back!

Passingthrough123 · 24/01/2026 10:13

Great to see how everyone's doing. Thanks to a very sociable (but untypical) week that involved a fair bit of booze and too many morning-after packets of crisps, I've STS. It's not hangovers that are the issue either – it's the broken sleep that leaves me feeling knackered and in need of a carb pick-up to get through the next day. Determined to get into the 14s now, so next week will be alcohol-free.

I have logged everything though, even on the grim days where I've gone loads over (worst was 700+!). I'm determined not to repeat my past pattern of just jacking it in because I've gone into the red too much. Instead, I'm seeing the calories excess for what it is and resetting every day. Or, as the kids say, "charging it".

STS is better than gaining, so it’s a win in my book.

Had a wobbly Thursday but a good Friday and today.
Dinners have been -
jacket potato, bolognese sauce and salad
fishfingers, homemade wedges and salad (family had pizza and I had this 😀)
pizza made using a wrap as the base (while family had pie and chips)

I am trying!!!!!

ThatsCute · 25/01/2026 08:11

Today I was down 0.5, which brings this week’s total to 1.75–a real surprise, as my losses are usually way under 1 pound per week. I finally broke through the 130 barrier, so I’m now at 139.0.

This week I did x3 20-minute brisk walks on my lunch breaks. In the evenings I did 30 minutes of Peloton Yoga, 30 minutes of Peloton Full Body Weights, 10 minutes of Peloton Upper Body Weights (10 minute days are my favourite 😉), 45 minutes of Peloton Ballet Barre, and 2x 30 minutes of Joe Wicks. I skipped activity on Tuesday because I didn’t want to do anything after an event at the school—I just wanted to sit on the sofa and watch TV.

Stayed between 1700-1800 calories in the week, and have been sticking to what I’m doing (without the counting and logging) on the weekends.

Have a good week, ladies! 💪

Bookaholic73 · 25/01/2026 16:14

STS is definitely a win, especially if you were expecting to gain :)

@Happy2026 what was the wrap pizza base like? Could you pick it up to eat it, or was it a knihfe & fork job? I want to try it this coming Friady night i think.

I'm going to stick to 1800 again this week, and see if i lose anything. If not, I'll go down to 1750 and try again.
I have a spa weekend coming up in April, and want to lose 10kg by then. Fingers crossed i will!

You can pick it up and eat it. The middle bit stays soft and the crust goes quite hard.

i used tomato juice from a tin of tomatoes as I had no passatta in. Weighed 40g mozzarella. Added ham, chillies and sweetcorn. Sprinkle of oregano!

Official weigh day. Lost 1lb so 12st 13.

Belladog1 · 26/01/2026 15:56

I had my weigh in today. 5Ibs down so far this month.

Passingthrough123 · 28/01/2026 15:11

Weigh-in this morning and another 1lb down. Slow and steady wins the race!

Happy2026 · 30/01/2026 20:14

Scales flickered down to 12 11 this morning. That’s my incentive to stick to it this weekend 🙏

Wallabyone · 31/01/2026 13:21

Hi everyone,

Well done to everyone who has lost.

It’s been an up and down month, but I’ve managed to shift 5lbs and this last week has been more consistent and positive.

So, I’m starting February weighing 10st 9lbs. Fingers crossed for another decent month of weight loss for all of us!

CleanQueen123 · 01/02/2026 16:32

I'm in! I've been using Nutracheck for about 3 weeks at 1200 calories a day. Only 1lb down so far so quite a way to go before I hit my target (1st 5lbs to lose). I've been trying to get back into the habit of exercising over the last week too.

Happy2026 · 01/02/2026 16:47

Quick check in to say scales firmly on 12st 11 this morning which means 5lbs off in January 🥳

Belladog1 · 02/02/2026 09:24

I managed to lose 6Ibs in January. Unfortunately this week is gonna be a blowout. Not with food especially, but I know I'm going to be drinking a lot more because my partner is coming to stay for the week, and we tend to go mad on cocktails. But I guess a little fun isn't a bad thing. He came for a week in January too, and although I gained back some weight, I still managed 6Ibs, so I'm happy.

Congrats on a great loss in Jan! I think blowouts are fine as long as you get back on it afterwards and don't let a week become a month.

ThatsCute · 02/02/2026 15:21

Didn’t manage to lose any this week, but to be fair, I only tracked 4 days and went out to dinner one night with friends. Managed 4x brisk lunchtime 20 minute walks, 2x 30 min Joe Wicks, 30 min Peloton yoga, 30 min Peloton weights. 10 min Peloton core, and 10 min Peloton upper body.

Not confident about February—I have a work trip and a holiday, so it will likely be more about damage control.

Passingthrough123 · 02/02/2026 18:52

Quick question for those of you also using Nutracheck: do you have your exercise calories set as separate or combined? And if you're on combined, do you eat all of your exercise calories?

Happy2026 · 04/02/2026 00:00

12st 10 this morning, so close to single figures!

I’m eating at lot of ‘fried’ rice. 100g rice, lots of vegetables, chicken and egg all fried together with soy sauce and Chinese flavourings.

Mine's combined I think. I don't eat all of my exercise calories, not that I'm doing a great deal of exercise at the moment. I see it as a way of ensuring I'm definitely in a deficit rather than an extra allowance to use if that makes sense.

Thanks for the reply. I see it the same – that it puts me in a deficit. However, I'm a bit baffled by the way the app is recording the info that my Fitbit sends it. It's recording calories burned off for my daily steps – and also logs the walks I do when I take the dog out. But surely the walks should be part of the steps total? It's bizarre!

CleanQueen123 · 04/02/2026 20:57

I don't have a Fitbit so I do wonder how accurately it records the calories, especially because for some exercise the details are pre-set so it isn't a true reflection of what I've done. If anyone uses it and knows how to set your own speed and incline for the treadmill I'd be grateful.

Happy2026 · 06/02/2026 21:04

I’ve fallen off the wagon the past few days. I’ve had my period. Writing it here for accountability! Back to it tomorrow. Going out for brunch but will choose healthy.

My meals have been ok it’s been the snacking on crisps and chocolate.

Bookaholic73 · 08/02/2026 15:18

I'm creeping back in very ashamed as i keep saying I'll get back to it, and i never do.
I keep on complicating it, cutting out foods, setting silly rules and then failing on day 1.
So, I'm just going back to basics, starting again tomorrow.

1900 cals
130g protein
1.5L water

I've already meal prepped for the next few days, and have meal planned for the week.

I'll weigh daily, as i find it keeps me focused, even though i did say earlier on the thread that i wont weigh daily. I just need to remember that daily fluctuations are normal and expected.

Good morning!

Weighing in this morning at 76.3kg.
my aim is around 65kg.

I’m using the Happy Scale app to track my weight, as it gives averages and trends over time, which I think will be interesting to see.

My meals and snacks are all pre tracked except for dinner, as I’m making up a recipe and am not 100% sure what the ingredients will be yet.
