I am at my highest weight since being pregnant 10 years ago. I am 14 stone and 5ft 6.
I just couldn't stop eating/ bingeing and saw myself go above 12, 13 and now at 14 stone. All put on in a year - a stressful year.

I've resorted my fitbit, got the app and walked 5k yesterday and today with an aim to eat 1200 calories. But food is my mental comfort. Gah
I need new clothes now I'm too fat for everything I own.

Your post looks fine! And I'm intrigued by your ability to get so much out of a chicken! And enjoy your biccies later.

I'm already worried I won't lose this week as have my brother staying on Sat. I'm cooking so can control that but I've not had a drink for a week and know I'll want one!

Ah well, what will be and all that!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/08/2018 07:11

I can see the paragraphs and the grin.

Welcome to all the other new posters.

Well done those of you who've managed to stay on the wagon and managed to maintain or lose even when on holiday. I've leapt off the wagon in spectacular fashion this week. If I haven't put all of the weight I've lost this month back on I'll take that as a win.

ThrownMuse · 30/08/2018 08:14

Just keep going Rafal - and if it helps to unpick how you're feeling here, we're all on your side.

OrgyOfBarminess · 30/08/2018 08:29

Hi can I join in please?

I've had my dd 4 weeks ago tomorrow. I went up to 14lb12 and I'm aiming for around 11lb12. I'm currently 13lb9 and have been using MFP but I am EBF so I'm still taking in 2000 calories a day.

I'm trying to do a least a walk a day, nothing too strenuous until I get the all clear on my 6 week check up.

I'm bad for sugar atm and I really need to reduce my intake, bloody love cake and chocolate so I've been drinking vanilla chai tea with a splash of milk to get my sugar/ sweet fix.

I'm hoping joining will give me the kick up the bum to stick to it, I currently just have my old maternity clothes and I can almost get in my 14's but not at all comfortably so I have bugger all clothes. I'm not buying anymore!

duckii · 30/08/2018 09:02

Hi to all!

@OrgyOfBarminess please take it easy on yourself. My little one is nearly 4 months and I'm only starting now! There was no way I could at 4 weeks post partum. I had an emergency c section and also was bf. It was tough. Im now able to go for walks and I'm FF so wanting to get rid of this baby weight (& some extra!). Finding it hard being sleep deprived though but enjoy this time with the baby and give yourself a break xx

OrgyOfBarminess · 30/08/2018 10:24

@duckii

I know it's quiet early but tbf I had a really straightforward birth and feel able to stick to it, I'm also looking into boosting my milk supply so I'm able to express so it's tracking the foods I am eating for nutritional info and making better choices.

I'm certainly not avoiding foods just being aware of the quantities as that's my downfall. I could quiet easily munch through a family size chic bar and sharing bag of crisps and sweets in one sitting and it's just made me feel shit and tired x

FrenchFancie · 30/08/2018 12:36

Does anyone else crave sugar when they are tired? I had a lousy nights sleep up and down with Dd and now I’m desperate to eat chocolate. I’m thinking about kitkats.....
Trying not to though, so I can have a decent portion of spaghetti Bol later....

duckii · 30/08/2018 15:38

Having a bad day.. already had junk food.. where's the will power gone Sad feeling down with very little sleep so I'm resorting to (bad) food for comfort.

ThrownMuse · 30/08/2018 17:30

Duckii and French regarding tiredness and sugar.

There is a huge amount of evidence which support the correlation between sleep deprivation and sugar cravings (or other junk food). When tired our bodies produce a hormone (It's got a weird name like gremlin) which triggers it. So don't beat yourselves up about will power, just try and get as much sleep as your child allows. My DS did not sleep through the might until he was 6 (and still wakes at 5am), so I know this feeling well!

ThrownMuse · 30/08/2018 17:37

And welcome Orgy and congratulations on your new arrival!

Todayillbebetter · 30/08/2018 17:59

Regarding sugar and tiredness - absolutely. It is based on science and very real. I woke at 5 this morning and I am very much craving sugar. No one should best themselves up for being human. Just do your best even if that means you eat half the binge amount. Gradually it will decrease until binges stop happening!

Thanks guys. That makes sense about the sleep deprivation and sugar. I'm definitely taking a day off today, back to it tomorrow! How is everyone else doing?

OrgyOfBarminess · 30/08/2018 18:23

Thanks @ThrownMuse Smile

I had a big 600 calorie breakfast because I had coffee and cake at lunchtime ( we had a baby group meet up and went for a stroll) then I'm having sausage casserole and veg for tea but I'm hoping the 'sugar gremlins' don't creep up this evening!

I've been having a bowl of multigrain flakes with fruit and two tablespoons of rhubarb yoghurt to combat cravings on an evening. Does anyone else have an evening snack to starve off sugar cravings?

ThrownMuse · 30/08/2018 20:40

I don't have a massive sweet tooth so I can normally head those off with a mint tea.

My weakness is wine and crisps...nuts...bread...pasta and cheese!

On target today and 11k steps. Really wanted to open wine tonight so decided to weigh tomorrow ahead of Saturday's family lunch (and tea time wine!).

Is this cheating?!

mychildrenarebarmy · 30/08/2018 20:58

Hmm, today has not been so good for me. All good intentions went out the window. Decided to have an impromptu day out with the children and ended up eating far more than I should, even with a decent step count. 😒

It was one of those, just have this, just have that days. The trouble is, this and that has added up to nearly double my goal calories for the day.

ninnypoo · 30/08/2018 21:36

I've managed a 3rd day on plan- 1200 calories so far although thinking about a biscuit and a cup of tea before bed.

Finally got to weigh myself this morning and I am 12st 8lbs. My heaviest weight so I'm mortified but need to hold on to this feeling to keep myself motivated.

JustTheLemons · 30/08/2018 22:12

Great work lagertha, that’s a fantastic loss!

Welcome newbies! CICO is defo the way forward, although I’ve also cut out sugar to cold turkey my sweet tooth. I am feeling much higher energy today after a tough first few days- stick with it, it really does get better.

Not cheating at all Thrown Muse- I used to always have a Friday night takeout after weighing in to celebrate and then still have a whole week ahead of me to crack on. It’s the best time to indulge if you ask me!

Bad luck mychildren, I’ve been there. I struggled for a long time the mentality of ‘oh well, this can be a free day’ and just not logging. I try and plan all my snacks in advance on MFP now and it’s really helped.

mychildrenarebarmy · 30/08/2018 22:58

I did log it all. Somewhat scary, but I was honest with myself.

ThrownMuse · 31/08/2018 05:32

I think It's still a victory mychildren. I've had so many failures where one day will throw me off, this time I think by respecting these days we're more likely to hang on for the longer term.

Well done Ninny!

Thank you Lemons. I have always preferred a Friday weigh in so am going to switch (as soon as I can get to the scales, me and DS are awake but DP still asleep).

ThrownMuse · 31/08/2018 06:35

15.9 - so that's 4 off for me in week one. Not surprising as I have stopped the pasties, fish and chips and wine!

Will stay on track today and looking forward to a moderate food intake this weekend!

What us everybody up to today? DS a bit sniffly so probably just a slow day. I need to go to the supermarket but this is akin to violating his human rights, so...bribery is my friend today!

ninnypoo · 31/08/2018 09:41

Just worked out my Basal Metabolic Rate and TDEE and interestingly it came out at 1800 calories a day, meaning that MyFitnessPal wasn't giving me enough of a deficit to lose 1lb a week so have adjusted on there and will see how I get on. Always struggle with activity levels too- I'm a primary school teacher who walks 20 mins each way to work so I'm more active than sedentary/desk job but 'light exercise' seems to much!

JustTheLemons · 31/08/2018 10:05

Mychildren- hats off to you! That’s so brave! I have never once logged if I know I’m going over, I feel too guilty to see it all in black and white. That accountability is what I need though, or it doesn’t work. I’m so impressed you logged it anyway, your head is obv in the right place.

Thrownmuse- huge congrats on losing 4lbs, that’s fantastic! What a great first week result!

Ninnypoo- interesting! What website did you use to calculate that? I’m doing 1400 at the mo which is working nicely for me, but I’ve literally just plucked that number out of the air.

ninnypoo · 31/08/2018 10:22

Justthelemons- I used this website https://tdeecalculator.net
Apparently it's more accurate if you know body fat as well (I'm guessing more fat stores= less calories needed as my calories went down when I increased the body fat Blush)

ThrownMuse · 31/08/2018 10:48

Interesting, Ninny...I guess see what the scales say and tweak if necessary?

Thanks Lemons. It will slow down but at least I know this way works!

Am currently sat in soft play/climbing centre (aka: The 7th Circle of Hell) watching DS throw himself off walls. Then shopping and park. Out tonight but driving so no Wine and an early night!

JustTheLemons · 31/08/2018 16:59

Thanks- according to that I should be on 1350 calories so I’ve adjusted accordingly!

I know my body fat as I have scales that measure it, so I was able to enter that- much to my despair!
