I am at my highest weight since being pregnant 10 years ago. I am 14 stone and 5ft 6.
I just couldn't stop eating/ bingeing and saw myself go above 12, 13 and now at 14 stone. All put on in a year - a stressful year.

I've resorted my fitbit, got the app and walked 5k yesterday and today with an aim to eat 1200 calories. But food is my mental comfort. Gah
I need new clothes now I'm too fat for everything I own.

It's actually really easy. No calorie counting, but you do have to be careful not to eat too much protein and to avoid veg that are high in carbs. You also have to drink lots of water. I also avoided fats, which are bad for your cholesterol intake. No pasta, rice, bread, potatoes, quinoa, couscous, pulses, milk, yogurt, most fruit (except limited amounts of berries, melon, citrus fruit. No sugar at all, in any form. Even carrots and green beans are limited. And when you know exactly what foods to eliminate, it's easy. The first three days are very hard but after that, being in ketosis curbs your appetite. It can be dangerous long term, so being monitored by a health professional is a must.

sansouci · 06/09/2018 10:02

I forgot to add that you need to take potassium and magnesium supplements on the keto diet.

I'm not advocating the keto diet because it's potentially dangerous and because I'm living proof that the weight you lose comes back with a vengeance once you start eating carbs again.

ThrownMuse · 06/09/2018 17:13

I think I'll give it a miss!

I've licked my plate clean and eaten all my calories for the day. The only answer is bed at 8.30pm!

ThrownMuse · 07/09/2018 06:44

Friday 7/9/18: 15.7 so 2 off for me this week, making a total of 6.

I was really wobbling last night so pleased I stayed strong!

Food today: usual eggs for brekkie; jacket and beans for lunch, then low fat Thai green curry with prawns and veg.

I could have wine tonight but we'll see...maybe!

Everyone else ok?

Todayillbebetter · 07/09/2018 06:58

Hi everyone, sorry for not being here much. Well done on the losses!! Everyone is an inspiration to me.

I've been neither on it or off it to be honest. Work this week has been manic to say the least. I can't manage to get my steps in :-(

I only do about 5000 at work but I'm standing virtually all day. Which means my feet and ankles are dead by the time I get home at 5 ish. I do dinner etc and then am supposed to go and walk. But I'm too tired and achy. Perhaps I just need to build up my stamina again.
This is very hard! Going to push my diet and food choices more strictly next week as I don't think I would have lost anything.. just about levelled out due to a couple of hundred calories over my target and halving the steps I was doing.

Oh well, onwards and upwards!!
Have a great day everyone 😀

I’ve lost focus when it comes to earing but I have increased my steps. I’m hoping that by doing that it will steer me in the right direction as it has before. I start the days fine but then it all slides after lunch.

ThrownMuse · 07/09/2018 09:09

Hey Today - be kinder to yourself!!! Sounds like work is tough?

If losing weight was easy we'd have all done it ages ago, right? It IS hard, so just do what you can, when you can, or come back to it when you feel better able to. My step count is around 8k on average - some days I just don't have time to get away from work, but I know that it's the food that's my problem.

Is there anything we can do to help motivate you? Sending you a big hug.

Mychildren - yes, me too. The afternoon snacking is my real weak spot. I find if I have a biggish lunch (well, small, but feels 'big', so jackets and beans and a big salad), and a few snacks planned inbetween, I can just - JUST - about control it. But I'm wolfing my dinner at 5pm, make no mistake. Well done on icreasing your steps, though. I'm failing there.

We can get there.

sansouci · 07/09/2018 21:50

Being "good"! Got 6,000 steps done and a grilled chicken salad for dinner. No wine, eitherGrin

ThrownMuse · 08/09/2018 06:32

Well done San on being good and your step count! Star

I did drink the wine (and ate cheese and biscuits) and loved every second.

Back on it today, always hard with a hangover. Confused

duckii · 08/09/2018 09:02

Well done @ThrownMuse you're doing so well. Keep it up! I had 2 good days then 1 bad day. Finding it hard to be good everyday !

ThrownMuse · 08/09/2018 09:48

So are you, Duckii! We're all trying our best! I keep looking at the photo of me in my swimming cossie and it's spurring me on...plus knowing I can relax a bit on a Friday really helps!

What are people up to today? DS and I are going swimming at the local lido, then a milkshake (not me, obvs, I'll be on the coffee!). Got my banana packed so I don't wobble.

Dinner is lasagne tonight which I love but is has 20 billion calories so I've got a low fat ready meal version and a gigantic salad...the things we do!!!

duckii · 08/09/2018 10:13

It's good you're prepared. We have a few viewings booked to see a new house. So we will most likely be eating out for lunch. Motivated to be good. Just tried on a few of my clothes that didn't fit a month ago and they fit everywhere apart from my hips/bum. That's my worst area hips/bum/thighs! The hardest area to lose weight too.
Ps. I love lasagne. Good on you for staying strong

ThrownMuse · 08/09/2018 14:41

That's a great idea, trying on clothes Duckii...I might go and do that now!

My problem area is tummy and boobs - they take ages and are, of course, the most noticeable to me.

Good luck with the viewings and lunch...I very nearly cracked when a went for an after swim coffee/milkshake but luckily DS didn't want to eat.

Now just need to dodge lasagne later!

ThrownMuse · 08/09/2018 18:28

I dodged the lasagne and if I don't l win a bloody award for my will power today, well...

I might make myself a badge. I've already done an hour of gardening to take my mind off the leftovers...Sad

duckii · 08/09/2018 21:59

Good on you @ThrownMuse I have been good today.. but really feel like chocolate but I resisted temptation (finally!). Sunday tomorrow, another week gone. Monday is weigh day for me!

ThrownMuse · 09/09/2018 06:50

Well done Duckii - we stayed strong for a day, and that's all the best we can do sometimes. Only one more day until you weigh in - you can do it!

Food for me today is: eggs on toast for brekkie; homemade leek and pea soup (with a small hunk of bread); then dinner is probably veggie curry.

Hoping to get out for a nice long walk and blackberry picking too today.

How is everyone else?

sansouci · 09/09/2018 09:52

I need to be brave. I need to replace the batteries in the electronic scale and weigh myself. Then I can look forward to seeing the pounds drop.

ThrownMuse · 09/09/2018 14:08

You can do it San. Star

ThrownMuse · 10/09/2018 07:06

Good morning all.

I have woken up with the period from hell...today is going to be tough and may involve some moaning...

Usual food for me: eggs; jacket and beans; soup and chicken salad. Lots of coffee!

Working from home and it's a beautiful autumnal day so may have a lynch time walk along the beach to distract me.

Am also planning a treat at 10 pounds, I really need a make over so perhaps some new bits of make up.

How is everyone else doing? Smile

ThrownMuse · 10/09/2018 07:07

LUNCH!!!!!! Blimey....

ThrownMuse · 11/09/2018 07:19

Hello everyone...is anyone still posting here?

Had a bit of an overeating day yesterday as was really struggling with heavy period...not going to beat myself up too much about it but will try and pull it back today.

Everyone else ok?

OrgyOfBarminess · 11/09/2018 08:28

Hi @ThrownMuse I'm still here!

I weighed myself today and I've gone up to 13.9. I'm not too worried as I'm still waiting for my 6 week postnatal check next week so not being particularly strong with cravings etc plus we're cluster feeding so I'm very tired! I did manage 45 mins of yoga and let me tell you some positions need work I am so tense even when lying on the floor! (Can u see u I like yoga 😂).

I'm trying to balance milk supply as well as weight so I've been eating oats! I made a lovely overnight oats with rhubarb yogurt and plum compote from the neighbours plums, we've also started harvesting the allotment so I'm freezing loads of veggies.
Someone posted something about keeping a Tupperware in the freezer and if u have leftover veg from meals to tip into the Tupperware and make soups/ stocks.

ThrownMuse · 11/09/2018 11:38

Phew, hello Orgy!

I am in awe of you even thinking about this so soon after having your baby! And what a lovely sounding brekkie. We've also got an allotmet so I've been pickling beetroot and freezing runner beans!

Hope everyone else is ok. I've had eggs for brekkie, lunch is quorn cottage pie and peas, dinner will be soup probably. Grapes to snack on.

Still not walking as much but will be swimming on Friday finally!

OrgyOfBarminess · 11/09/2018 13:41

I've just made a meat and potato pie with a pastry top for tea and runner beans from the allotment too!

I've eaten an apple some yogurt and cheese for lunch had a snack of pitta with a plum and some of those crab sticks for protein. I'm trying to stay away from the flapjack I made at the weekend for hubbys pack up!

I'm trying not to take the calories off mfp for breastfeeding until the end of the day now so I don't binge knowing I have loads left

ThrownMuse · 11/09/2018 14:09

Yummy...sounds GOOD!

I made blackberry crumble at the weekend and was a saint...good job too after yesterday's blip (blaming time of the month for that!).

Good thinking on the calorie adding. That's caught me out before.
