Haven't seen a thread for this although i know there was one last year and i wasn't on it but i really need to do something now. I have about 4 stone to lose. I am starting to have aches and pains as i get older and feel fat and awfully self conscious. Going to try low calorie and mfp. Would anyone like to join me or point me in the direction of the right thread?
Thanks

I'm doing pretty badly so far... But have introduced a little exercise each day so that's a positive.

Just wanted to share this website Hemsley & Hemsley. They have some great recipes and some really good lifestyle tips. Their book is really good, but they do seem to have a fair amount of time and money to be able to eat as they do all of the time, plus i don't really like the idea of eating a bone broth Hmm daily, but definitely some great stuff there.

A great snack suggestion from them is apple slices spread with peanut butter. Today i bought M&S peanut butter with maple and pecan which is 30 kcals per 5g teaspoon which actually goes a fair way on an apple or a ryvita. A ryvita and tsp of nut butter is a 65kcal snack and is great for a sweet craving.

Bumblebzz · 07/01/2015 11:06

Great idea Cumber, I love peanut butter and don't eat enough apples

tipp2chicago · 07/01/2015 11:13

I'm in, but 56lb to go...

Yesterday went awry when DH produced a half eaten tin of Celebrations :( had a few but not very over my MFP target so I walked for a bit with the buggy this morning including up and down hills so according to MFP I burned 240 cals! It would have been better with him in the carrier but I had shopping! An M&S diet Moussaka for lunch and tonight making a beef stew with no oil and loads of veg, with broccoli on the side.

NoLongerJustAShopGirl · 07/01/2015 13:36

went to WW this morning - a fab friendly group, so I will probably go back next week! (big step!) they were happy with the aim of 52 in 52, so it was nice to feel supported. Bought myself a ready made salad from M+S on the way home for a treat and put some cooked chicken (left over from last night's tea) in it, for lunch.

Howlongtillbedtime · 07/01/2015 19:05

Hello all , how is everyone doing ?

I have had a good day , am sticking under 1400 cals and no snacks . It isn't easy but I really really want to stick to it .

Omelette for dinner tonight with salad and I have even got enough cals left for a few chips .

Hope everyone is doing ok .

juneybean · 07/01/2015 19:11

I think I'm under (goal is 1600) but I'm a picker! :(

Howlongtillbedtime · 07/01/2015 19:14

I am trying really hard to stick to eating only at meal times , it is tricky but I am hoping it is a habit that will stick .

My DH eats loads at meal times but never snacks and you can tell . I do think it is my biggest downfall , well one of them anyway .

slithytove · 07/01/2015 19:43

Bad day, had a sausage roll and a doughnut for lunch :( but fighting with DH means no dinner on the horizon so might yet come in under my calories.

Bumblebzz · 07/01/2015 21:57

Ok here too, though struggling to keep strictly within the MFP calculated goal of 1340, I'm happy if I get under 1500 or so and MFP tells me I am still losing if maybe not as fast. I'm feeling hungry a lot which I hoping is a good sign, and I haven't touched chocolate which is a massive change for me.
Ditto what PPs have said, I feel so much better eating healthily and cutting out sugary foods, I just don't know how or why I get into such bad runs of eating junk.

Methe · 07/01/2015 22:17

Everything's alright here. No breakfast and a couple of apples for lunch then a huge plate of salad with Spicy chicken thighs and rice for tea.

I've walked 2.5 miles too.

I'm still feeling positive :)

Mrsmorton · 07/01/2015 22:17

It's remarkable how many calories are in things that I thought were just a snack bumblezz I think MFP is a good reality check.

Going out for curry on Friday night. Any tips? I'm thinking something dry? Tandoori chicken or some such?

StarlightMcKenzee · 07/01/2015 22:25

Did better today. Went over my calorie allowance but I think I'll just have to live with missing the target every day as I think I am more disturbed by my lack of calcium, vit A and C than anything else.

Seem to easily sort the vit A with a carrot though and that is an easy daily habbit to get into.

Vit C a little less so as I don't like fruit or juice. Tomato can help a little I guess.

Calcium I have no idea. Skimmed milk perhaps. I know green leafy veg but no way could I eat enough of them.

Perhaps I need to give in and eat a bowl of cereal in the morning after all.

Morning all !

First week of Jan is gone and I have just done my first weigh in and i have lost 4 pounds ! Grin

I know the first week is the biggest loss but I am really pleased , it means I am doing something right.

slithytove · 08/01/2015 08:47

Congratulations, I'm weighing in on Monday and its so hard to not check each day.

Have just had breakfast, cornflakes with milk. No fruit so will have to make up for it at lunch.

I've checked my nutrition on mfp and it's appalling. So my next goal is to hit 5 a day and to take a multi vitamin.

Redling · 08/01/2015 08:56

I managed 3 veg yesterday which I was happy about :) I have no idea what to do for dinner tonight. I have a DH who's also trying to lose a bit of sympathy baby weight he gained in the last year but he's got a massive appetite. So I'm doing normal evening meals but with no starchy sides. But tonight all I can think of to do is a pasta dish :) I might do a curry with prawns or chicken, loads of veg and some roasted cauliflower. Off to baby group with DS in the carrier, which will be 30 mins there and back so a good work out! Getting him weighed so I'll see what weight I'm carrying around! I'd love to weigh myself but not until Monday...

Bumblebzz · 08/01/2015 15:00

Just made another soup, I seem to be happy living on them at the moment. Have made two from Hugh FW's Veg book this week (we're trying to eat more veg too to combat the meat/pate etc fest that was Christmas). First was Ribollita and just did a curried sweet potato soup. I'm not even modifying the ingredients because they are mostly veg and pulses anyway.
Feeling very positive and great to be losing not gaining for a change.

Bumblebzz · 08/01/2015 15:01

PS I generally feel less positive at 8pm when my sugar demons hit! Any tips? I probably should have a bath or something to distract me...

StarlightMcKenzee · 08/01/2015 18:09

Bumblez, at 8pm I imagine what other 8pm's of my future will be like getting ready to go out in some nice dress. I might do a bit of window shopping online as that seems to STOP my appetite completely.

StarlightMcKenzee · 08/01/2015 18:11

I'm doing alright. I'm absolutely hating it but in a way that is good because I'm not pretending anything. I'm massive, and I'm doing something about it, end of. Like cleaning the toilet I guess. No-one ever feels good about that either, but the consequences of not doing it...........

Redling · 08/01/2015 18:19

I try to remember in my head that I'm not NEVER going to have chocolate or a glass of wine, or a roast potato again, I'm just not having one today. Then tomorrow etc. Then when I do have them remember these are treats not something to have every night.

Howlongtillbedtime · 08/01/2015 20:41

starlight that is kind of how I am thinking , these days are going to pass anyway so I can either be fatter at the end of the 52 weeks or slimmer . Only I can do something about it unfortunately. I am actually happy at a size 14 , I am going to do pretend dress shopping and decide what I will treat myself with.

Mrsmorton · 08/01/2015 21:44

starlight are you seeing results? Does that spur you on?

howlong what are you using as your motivation? Are you a 14 now?

I'm using MFP and not making my 1200 calories most days. This is only because I am a total creature of habit so I have the same breakfast and lunch with a different evening meal, usually adds up to 1050 ish. Does this mean I'm going to stall? I feel fine at present and am doing lots of exercise, I'm not eating my exercise calories though... I don't know what to do!!

I was 79.4 kg, now I'm 77.4 (since New Year's Day), I'm just worried I'll stop losing.

Also doing dry Jan which has massively contributed because I'm a big red wine drinker.
