Haven't seen a thread for this although i know there was one last year and i wasn't on it but i really need to do something now. I have about 4 stone to lose. I am starting to have aches and pains as i get older and feel fat and awfully self conscious. Going to try low calorie and mfp. Would anyone like to join me or point me in the direction of the right thread?
Thanks

I've got a list of downfall

1- greed

2 - office job the same as you :( I've put on 2 stone in the last year since getting my office job. I used to work shifts and actually have time for a life outside of work. Most of the women in my office are significantly over weight.

3- wine.

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/01/2015 15:23

My downfalls are grazing all day
Not drinking enough water
Drinking too much booze
Bread

I am planning to only snack on fruit if I have to but ideally only eat at meal times , and to drink two litres water a day .

That will do for starters.

Redling · 04/01/2015 16:41

My downfalls are

'Treating' myself because I've just had a baby and I deserve chocolate, deserts, caramel lattes etc all the time.

Eating snacks all day because I don't have time to eat with the baby, although if I pre planned I could have healthy snack food.

Just buying all the shit

slithytove · 04/01/2015 18:52

Greed - can't eat just one biscuit
Laziness - way too many sandwiches and frozen food or takeaways (which we can't afford anyway) and not enough veggies being cooked
Grazing - have 2 under 2 and don't seem to find time for breakfast and lunch.

Redling · 04/01/2015 20:08

Having lamb and salad for dinner. Will weigh properly tomorrow to kick it all off!

snozzlemaid · 04/01/2015 20:13

My downfall is snacking. I eat bags of crisps and chocolate biscuits far too much.
I know I can do this as I lost 2 stone a few years ago by stopping snacking and walking and swimming. I just need to get back on it and be strict with myself again.
I'll weigh in the morning.

StarlightMcKenzee · 04/01/2015 20:30

Hi Everyone - may I join you?

I read the thread first to check you were all lovely as my biggest downfall is the fact that I loath exercise and love refined carbs basically.

I don't mind moving or working, and I don't mind healthy food, but exercise for exercise is boring, and healthy food without carbs is only half a meal to me. So these are the things I need to find a way of dealing with really.

gymboywalton · 04/01/2015 20:37

Starlight , slimming world would suit you down to the ground.

I am very overweight, need to lose about six stone.

I just love eating, the taste, the sensation everything.

But I don't want to be immobile when I am old or to die of a heat attack before I get old so this is the year I sort myself out

FelineGroovy · 04/01/2015 20:59

I'd like to join too if I may? 52 in 52 sounds very achievable & if I can do it I'll be back to where I was pre-DC - which was 20 years ago.
The plan is to start running again, use MFP, cut out the wine & not be so greedy. Might do 5:2 as that suits me well.

ChildOfGallifrey · 04/01/2015 21:39

No snacks today! First time in god knows when! Just have to make sure I don't raid the cupboards later while I wait for DS to go to sleep. Might have a long soak and look at lovely clothes online to keep me focused

hoedown · 05/01/2015 00:26

Weighed myself this morning....13st 4lb. Will weigh-in weekly. Good luck everyone!

StarlightMcKenzee · 05/01/2015 09:06

I just looked at Slimming World, so thanks for the recommendation. It might be for people like me in attitude but definitely not for people like me in income unfortunately.

I'm gonna try to lose the lb a week through diet alone using MFP and then any exercise will be just a bonus. Of the two, it is food that I can probably address the easiest. The exercise thing I'll build up to by monitoring my steps for a few days to get an average and then trying to increase that.

Redling · 05/01/2015 09:29

Weigh in this morning and its better than it was, 14 stone 8.5lb. So that's my starting weight and I'll weigh in the mornings! I forgot I promised DH I'd cook the duck in the freezer, so I'm going to do it Peking duck style but wrap it in lettuce leaves rather than pancakes, and also have a very light salad lunch to compensate!

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/01/2015 10:24

Good luck everyone for today , my main thing for today is to drink lots of water and to try really really hard not to snack but only eat three meals .

I think I am going to make Biscettis minestrone soup as well .

StarlightMcKenzee · 05/01/2015 10:33

What do people eat for breakfast. I can stand cereals.

Usually I skip until 11 when I eat cake or toast.

nikki1978 · 05/01/2015 10:41

I am also in :) I am losing weight for health reasons this year. I had a minor op at the end of last year and the talk about my weight from nurses and doctors (my BMI is 35) put the frighteners on me. Since I will be having a major op this year I need to get cracking. Started well this morning with a bowl of oatmeal in water with stewed apple. I am basically adding in more veg, salad and fruit and exercising for an hour 6 days a week. I'm not really going to calorie count or anything as I am just making healthy choices. The exercise is the main thing though. I have read a copy of Run Fat Bitch Run and am going to follow the program in that with a davina dvd on the other 2 days. Good luck all!

MaelstromOfLunacy · 05/01/2015 10:42

I've just had one slice of toast, some grapes and a handful of Brazil nuts (and a big fat coffee!) I never fancy food first thing in the morning but if I don't have it I don't lose weight as quickly!

nikki1978 · 05/01/2015 10:42

Oh and I weighed in this morning and 13st 13.25. I need to get under 10 to be a healthy BMI but I am just starting with getting to 13st. Hopefully by the end of this month since I know I always drop a fair bit of weight in the first week of any diet. Then it should slow to a pound a week :)

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/01/2015 10:48

I still haven't had any breakfast but only because I haven't been hungry , I am now so I am going to have a hard boiled egg and a slice of wholemeal toast .

Then my plan is to have soup for lunch , but no idea what to have for dinner .

I really struggle cutting down my bread intake , I tend to have toast in the morning , sandwich at lunch and whatever we have in the evening can generally be made better with a nice bread roll .

nikki1978 · 05/01/2015 10:51

Maybe just start with not having the dinnertime roll howlong as that isn't really necessary - maybe add more protein to your dinners to fill you up? What sort of thing do you eat in the evening?

nikki1978 · 05/01/2015 10:53

I don't really find soup to be a filling lunch without bread. Unless it has chunks of meat in it. But then I am not a big soup fan - wish I was as it's a great way to get veg in. I am going for salad leaves, a spoonful of coleslaw, jacket potato and maybe some tuna for my lunch. Substantial but still pretty low in cals and fat (well not the coleslaw but I need something to liven up my salad and I hate dressings)

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/01/2015 11:30

We normally have stews , curries , chicken baked potato and salad , risotto , depends on the mood really but I do find a carbless meal a bit lacking .

If I do meatballs or chilli I can do without the rice but I will then put cheese on .

StarlightMcKenzee · 05/01/2015 12:01

I'm gonna try chilli tonight on a bed of cauliflower. Not especially keen on the idea but then nor am I keen on myself half a stone heavier as not addressing this now will only mean things get worse.

However, I have been researching breakfasts and I think this looks like a good option. Some of you could do this for lunches, or even dinner perhaps?

StarlightMcKenzee · 05/01/2015 12:03

Though I'd chop the veg rather than shred and probably not mess around removing the yolk of quite so many eggs. I'd also include other veg and at times meats and possibly cheese depending on how much variety I was seeking.

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/01/2015 12:08

I saw something similar on facebook yesterday and thought it was a good idea , that could be another job for later on . Variety is important for me , I tend to get really stuck in a food rut when I try and lose weight , and that makes me bored and reaching for the toast again .
