i had one from the hospital, gave it back on wed lol. it wasn't as good as the one i had, too strong iykwim? i don't know if i can face using it again, it's a massive thing, so obvious and depressing.

Aitch, feeding lying down might be tricky at first because she's so wee. I remember vaguely doing some odd boob propping at first when dd was teeny which wasn't a huge success, but we both improved at it after a few weeks.

I never did the "hold them in the crook of your arm" thing until very recently; when she was small I just lay her on the bed on her side and faced her. We were quite lucky with her as she is a natural latcher though.

Hope you crack it in time. Have I mentioned how brilliant you are, by the way?

Aitch · 11/10/2008 11:51

nooooooo, you haven't...

have i mentioned that i went to make some toast and there's a FINGERNAIL in the bread?! that's my thread, the M&S 'not just food' one...

It's the boob fairy, I tell you!!!!!

CorpseBrideOfJohnCusack · 11/10/2008 11:54

yes you are fabulous
but that fingernail - BOAK

CoolYourJets · 11/10/2008 12:53

aitch want to borrow a single mini medala? Can drop off in glasgow on tuesday. actually i also have a weirdy hands free in the bra pump you can have a go of if you want.

Caz10 · 11/10/2008 16:03

I have most of the gubbins for this pump that I will happily send you...a very kind mumsnetter posted it to me when I was trying to express for going back to work...it was 3rd hand when it came to me but I bought a new plug and cable for it, and new tubes/bottles etc, it works well! Will pass it on no probs.

vlc i can't believe they still have that on your charts. . I couldn't take dd to her 8mth check, dh had to take her and said it was very satisfying to see that she is now 20lbs and to tell HV that I was still bf-ing!! She immediately started to go on about how she needed to be eating solids "properly" so he listed off all the things she eats, which took some time ), said this was all via BLW... after a silence she spluttered "well what about cereals, does she eat enough cereals???!". DH said, nice and cheekily I hope, well she likes mostly ready brek, some days it's weetabix though, sometimes shredded wheat....!

I didn't master feeding lying down until she was about 7mths tbh. I did best without all the cushions and gubbins although I know it is different for everyone.

nappyaddict · 11/10/2008 17:38

vlc - have you asked to see the thrive lines before then? what did they say?

Aitch · 11/10/2008 17:55

thanks cool, but i'm goiing to say CAZ, that's my pump. i have all the gubbins, just the unit isn't pumping any more. well, it's pumping at half strength cos the bit at the side where you plug the bottles in is now jumping in and out along with the pump. have not explained that well but if i could borrow it that would be fab. don't need any bottles or nuffink, just the actual pump thing.

OP posts:
Caz10 · 11/10/2008 19:51

Just realised I said gubbins twice in one post, that must be once too often surely...

Anyway you are more than welcome to the pump Aitch, it is the pump of MN kindness anyway, as I got it from a kind kind mner on my PN thread when I was distraught about going back to work and it helped me pump gallons (for me anyway!) at the time. So it will be nice to pass it on! Just CAT me your details and I'll get it in the post this week.

Aitch · 11/10/2008 20:15

can you do me a favour and email me at aitch at baby led weaning dot com? signing up to cat is on my list of to-dos...

i'll be only too happy to paypal you the postage, of course. you've made my day... one woman's prop is another woman's crutch.

Caz10 · 11/10/2008 22:02

you have mail! don't worry re postage, I didn't pay the lovely lady that sent it to me, so I feel like I owe a favour somewhere!

laundrylover · 13/10/2008 11:57

Morning Aitch - how you and the LO doing today?

We have the dreaded tummy bug here so DD1 off school - bright as a button but doing many poos!! Hope it isn't rife in Glasgow too. Would be the last thing the Aitch household needs I guess.

This thread had me looking at my girls' red books again. DD1 was weighed all the bloody time which I think just stressed me out and I started giving a bottle of formula at bedtime at 6 weeks. DD2 was weighed only 8 times ever, had no formula and despite dropping a bit at 3 months, followed much the same line. At 1 year old they were both quite happily hovering around the 25th centile. This doesn't really prove anything at all but in my heart I know that DD1 didn't need formula - it's not like she suddenly started gaining 3lbs a week! .

Anyway, really Aitch I just wanted to say (again!) that you are doing a fine job and as long as DD2 is gaining (which she is) just keep doing what you're doing.

Aitch · 13/10/2008 17:48

typing one haneded...

ll! THANKS! wll write more fulsomely later...
and caz, i'm afraid i don't have you re email, did mine bounce bac?

OP posts:
ilovemydog · 13/10/2008 17:52

Good news - found a human Paediatrician who said DS was healthy, just small. He wrote in red book (do they have those in Scotland?) 'continue breastfeeding...'

Thought that there was no point in supplements as it would only decrease feeding.

Caz10 · 13/10/2008 20:16

lol at a human paed! great news tho

aitch no email bounced back from you, i will go back into hotmail and check tho...

will try and send again! my address is just basically my name so don't really want topost it here!

Caz10 · 13/10/2008 21:38

OK have sent it again, to aitch at babyledweaning dot com, is that right?

verylittlecarrot · 13/10/2008 23:23

Aitch · 13/10/2008 23:23

Aitch I just bumped into the baby whose clothes you have inherited - she is a whopping 11lb 4oz and must be 6 months now. Very cute.

How you doing today?

welliemum · 14/10/2008 20:26

Just catching up.

Tell you what, Aitch, you post some more pictures of dd2 and we'll tell you whether we think she's looking well. [cunning]

And obviously it's important that dd1 is in the pics too, as a size reference. [liar]

Aitch · 14/10/2008 21:12

all that creepy stuff with cod made me delete my pics, wellie.

right. dd2 has ANOTHER cold but this time less serious, my pump isn't working (but once i email caz back she will rescue me) and my breasts deffo feel a lot less full this last week.

is this because at 6 weeks they are settling down? cos they feel positively floopy a lot of the time...

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeZombies · 14/10/2008 21:14

Aitch it never is 6 weeks ?

Habbibu · 14/10/2008 21:14

normal normal normal - ime! Does seem to defy logic, though, and it's a leap of faith to believe that there is milk there. How are the nappies.

Aitch · 14/10/2008 21:18

nappies are explosive sometimes, not so others. floopy is normal? this, combined with my cs overhang, is making me v attractive.

and yes, oct 11th was dd2's due date.

how's dd keeping, habs? my two both have colds, we could have cooked up quite the new mega-infection had we but met.
