I know there's a petition up for people to sign if they don't agree with the new Equality Bill being proposed, but if you'd like to do something more physical then watch this space!

We're hoping to do this on the 21st July, to coincide with the recess of Parliament for the summer break. We're also going to be organising regional events this time, as I know that a lot of people would have liked to be involved but couldn't get to London!

More news as I soon as I know what we're doing - but your support will be invaluable.

Sorry I haven't read all of this so might be asking something already said... Is there a Birmingham group arranged? I know a few people who would get word out (BFing group I used to go to and I'm trained as a peer supporter) also be happy to organise something if it's not already been done.

TinkerbellesMum · 01/07/2008 18:02

D'oh a few posts back! ChairmumMiaow what's the plan?

theSuburbanDryad · 01/07/2008 18:06

Tink - did you email me earlier? I'm happy to put you on the mailing list so you'll be kept up to date!

Well, as cake fuels the masses... how about a 'breast cake' contest.. we bring along our 'breast' cake attempts!

Paps, and Venus's Nipples anyone? :-)

ChairmumMiaow · 03/07/2008 09:01

TinkerbellsMum : I was going to suggest doing it by the cathedral, and was all ready to phone police today (I've had a nasty chest infection for the last few days so have been crap!) but I'm now worried that its not the best place. I'm still happy to do organising but I can't think of anywhere else central / picnic friendly

I'm aware I'm being rubbish and leaving this late - and I need to try to drum up some attendees too. Any ideas of where would be a good place to do this, or shall we just go to london?

theSuburbanDryad · 03/07/2008 09:17

HI everyone - sorry i've not been on here. Been having uber bad morning sickness and am soooo tired all the time.

Will attempt to write a post for the mailing list - anyone not on it who wants to be (IYSWIM) please email me at [email protected]

Cheers

I have a bad migraine, still feeling a bit out of this morning.
I've had a phone call from Durham police acknowledging my email, it is being passed to one of the Inspectors, and am waiting to hear back.

shanegem · 03/07/2008 10:11

I'm coming down to the London picnic, and can't wait!!!

TennantbellesMum · 03/07/2008 23:45

Back of Rackhams Cathedral? ahem...

That sounds good, or near the Floozy? But that's all concrete so not so comfortable. I think if you want to do something in the town centre you need to speak to the police for permission.

I'm happy to help arrange things, I'm a peer supporter with the NHS so I can get my boss involved too. Plus I know a really good group in Kings Heath I used to go to who would probably be interested and there is Stella Onions website to find more groups to rope in. If you want to talk away from here and work something out, I'm happy to arrange something. Just email me on the email I said before.

TennantbellesMum · 05/07/2008 12:02

Went up around there yesterday and the beach is next to the Town Hall so maybe we could sit on the beach with cocktails?

Email me if you want some help arranging it, I'm quite happy to help anyway I can.

omy · 05/07/2008 12:23

I'm in. Where exactly are you meeting in London and what time? (sorry if you have answered this before!!)

Can do London, but confused about this event the Friday before

TennantbellesMum · 06/07/2008 09:24

For anyone to find other Mums to let know, this is Stella Onions website.

Urban has come down with a bad case of mastitis, and is at the red streaks stage. As she's also in the early stages of pregnancy, and is bresfteeding a toddler, so she's just about to be fit to be wrapped in cotton wool and sent to bed for a week! She's also not at home, but at her MiL, and isn't able to do anything.

So, can I ask, that anyone who has volnutered to help, or to attend, and who is not on the mailing list, email me on:

[email protected] and I'll get you into the mailing list this afternoon and we'll crack on to cheer Urban up!

Also, the person running Edinburgh, a key event, has had to pull out - can anyone take over? It's mostly all arranged, but we need someone to do it from here!

As I said to Urban, this is about slowly building a sustainable annual event, that is shared community thing. Don't matter a jot how much, or how little, is done each year/event. This is a long haul thing, and so slow and steady is the best.

email me!

theSuburbanDryad · 06/07/2008 16:12

Thanks Morgan. (I've got some anti-b's btw. See my mastitis thread here)

Will be with you online, am not quite brave enough to attempt London with 3 under 5s!

Please please please is anyone brave enough to do an Oxford one?

Hope you're feeling better soon Urban

TennantbellesMum · 07/07/2008 13:08

Has anyone made a poster or anything up?

I've called a few health centres that have BF groups and they've asked if we have anything they can put up.

VictorianSqualor · 07/07/2008 13:16

ready4anothercoffe, I know of a few MNers in the Oxford area that would possibly do it, as would I if the time&place were right.

I can't arrange it though, I haven't had the time nor inclination to sort the bfing calendar I was meant to be arranging

Ready4anotherCoffee · 07/07/2008 14:05

I was talking to some mums at toddlers today who are also interested...

Am not able to arrange, although willing to assist, I already have too much on my plate, and would make an almighty balls up.

LookingForwardToSummer · 07/07/2008 14:37

Is there a cambridge one - or anywhere in east anglia?

BouncingTurtle · 07/07/2008 15:55

Still haven't heard back from Durham Police so no further forward - have chased it up again.

BouncingTurtle · 07/07/2008 17:52

Have heard back from Durham Police, nothing to do with them but have given me a contact at the university so have contacted them instead.

theSuburbanDryad · 08/07/2008 11:15

I thought that might be the case BT - Paliament Square is a special case because of the SOCA. But the police is always a good place to start!
