I know there's a petition up for people to sign if they don't agree with the new Equality Bill being proposed, but if you'd like to do something more physical then watch this space!

We're hoping to do this on the 21st July, to coincide with the recess of Parliament for the summer break. We're also going to be organising regional events this time, as I know that a lot of people would have liked to be involved but couldn't get to London!

More news as I soon as I know what we're doing - but your support will be invaluable.

Hi - can everyone who's volunteered to run/attend a picnic please email me at [email protected] so I can put you on the mailing list. Will be easier to send mailshots out to everyone rather than keep updating on here - although i will be doing that as well!

So far we have volunteers for Birmingham, Newcastle, Teesside, Edinburgh and Hinckley (Leicestershire) - so we still need volunteers for North and South Wales, Bristol, Plymouth and maybe somewhere in the Somerset area! Taunton?

Please please if you can organise a picnic in these areas then email me at [email protected] - and keep the support coming on here, it really helps!

TIA

Over and out Mrs Squirrel.

Sorry Urban, I got confused. The MFI spies were doing my over at the time.

Which I wouldn't have minded, but Jack Bauer wasn't with them.

BouncingTurtle · 29/06/2008 21:20

So it's on Friday?
Well tomorrow I'm going to speak to my breastfeeding group and start canvassing for people to come. And also get suggestions on locations - there is a green area near the Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council offices which might be doable(need to speak to the Police about this, I guess), or there is Ropner Park, where we had a Breastfeeding Picnic.

I was thinking that maybe we could get some leaflets with some info on including the web address for the E-petition, I assume this is the one you are submitting to HH? These could be handed out to people who want to come to the picnics, perhaps we could just have the one design, and then stick labels on them with locations of the regional picnics?

morgangee · 29/06/2008 21:46

No, it's on MONDAY.

Another group, who had been in touch and said they were running in August, and were worried we were going to get more publicity than them, have moved THEIRS to the Friday. Even'tho they knew ours was on the Monday.

Ours was, and still is, the Monday.

Knakard · 29/06/2008 21:52

any thing happening notts/middlands?
would love to join in or would be more than happy to co organise with someone, working madley at mo so organising on own would be a bit much.

BouncingTurtle · 30/06/2008 05:36

Ahh, sorry I got a bit confused!
They trying to steal our thunder then?

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 07:57

BT - it's a sore subject with me atm but am happy to discuss it off the board if you like. I have no wish to slag other lactivists off on a public forum. Can you get in touch with me on [email protected] or CAT me so i can put you on the mailing list?

Knakard - we are hoping to organise one in Birmingham, would that be possible for you to get to?

pooter · 30/06/2008 08:08

I will email you urban.

Jackstini · 30/06/2008 09:03

Knakard - I am in Nottingham and would be up for attending. Working FT and 16 wks pg but could 'work from home' that day!
Or there is one in Hinkley if that would work for you I could also make that one

BouncingTurtle · 30/06/2008 09:32

I am on the msiling list, SD, as I had a confirmatory email.

FYI - I'm organising a picnic in DURHAM not TEESSIDE now.

ChairmumMiaow · 30/06/2008 09:45

knackard- I'm organising Birmingham and would be grateful for any help. I shall be phoning the police to sort out as soon as my chest infection has calmed down enough that I don't sound like a dirty old man on the phone!

kkdmom · 30/06/2008 10:17

Turtle can you keep me posted on the place and time. I cannot make much of a commitment to help or even be there as i am just dragging myself around with SPD. I hope i can make it and show some support though!

kkdmom · 30/06/2008 10:18

maybe next year i will have the energy to lead a Sunderland one .

BouncingTurtle · 30/06/2008 19:05

KKD - poor you! Did you have it with your dd?
If you are not up to driving to the picnic, I could swing by and give you a lift?

kkdmom · 30/06/2008 19:12

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 19:22

kkd - are you Kiskidee with a new coat on?

OP posts:

I'm hopefully going to try and organise the picnic on Palace Green, and I think you can use the park n ride tickets on the Cathedral bus, so you could bus it all the way up, that way you won't be struggling up the hill.
Is Indith back from France does anyone know?

kkdmom · 01/07/2008 11:53

she will be in france over the 21st, turtle. i think we should put this out to some of the slingmeet people, no? i am sure yvonne and kathryn would be happy to come along if they can make it.

morgangee · 01/07/2008 15:16

To the Tune of

It's A Long Way To Tipperary

Please protect me, protect my baby,
at our breastfeeding time,
for it makes us both fit and happy,
and it shouldn't be a crime.
We ask the nation's leaders
injustice to reject;
please protect me, and protect my baby,
and show us respect!

(Alison Blenkinsop, midwife and IBCLC, wot rote it for us!)

BouncingTurtle · 01/07/2008 15:24

Very good! Shall have to print this out!
I've emailed Durham constabulary about the Durham picnic so hopefully will be able to confirm the location by the end of the week.
Have had some interest from the groups I go to today as well, including some of the SureStart staff and our local NCT people!

theSuburbanDryad · 01/07/2008 17:56

I was in Oxford today, meeting up with Berolina who was very interested in our picnic, and will hopefully write a bit about us in her book!
