Text (page 61):

Are you breast-feeding, Katie?

No, it's brilliant I have 20 crates of teats and bottles -- I don't have to sterilise or heat anything, you literally take the teat out of the pack, screw it on, throw it away. I don't care what people say - you don't have to breast-feed. They gave me a tablet that dries your milk up so my boobs haven't hurt or leaked or anything.

Peter: Junior didn't breast-feed and he's turned out fine.

So why did you decide not do breast-feed?

I don't want a baby drinking from me - the thought of it makes me feel really funny. I think only a certain person could handle my knockers.

I'm all for doing a complaint - but don't particularly want to buy OK! For the complaint, I need:

publication date
product name

Hatrick - I totally agree with you, it was my first thought when I saw the pictures.

WendyWeber · 03/08/2007 10:53

I think if it was just the photos the ASA might not be able to do anything, but as the ad has been placed right there with them surely they can?

(FWIW I had looked at those pics before (in a link on here, not in the mag) and didn't notice the SMA on the bottle then, so it might pass some people by. But agree it is just wrong)

LIZS · 03/08/2007 12:15

very cynical piece , to the point of advertorial (preusmably unacknowledged ?)

lissie · 03/08/2007 12:21

pistachio, i noticed that!

expatinscotland · 03/08/2007 12:22

Oh, nice! The throw away stuff! So environmentally sound, too.

And a tablet to dry up the milk.

She could even afford round the clock care to help her BF - a maternity/lactation nurse, cook, cleaners, nannies for the other children, etc, and just lie in bed and BF.

Difers · 03/08/2007 12:24

Can you breast feed after having implants anyway????

This is clear product placement and inappropriate. Which issue was this???

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2007 12:29

I think this taps into our fears (and our husbands' fears) that we cannot be sexual women if we are breastfeeding, also

the very sultry pose of her with baby on her bare legs, and prominent SMA logo suggests that if you want to be a sexy mother, this product will do the business, unlike that nasty weirdo breastfeeding thing

mamazon · 03/08/2007 12:33

" i love her anyway, even if she is a ginge. people that are mean about red hair is the same as racist"

did she not just call her "ginge"
words fail me

EricGallagher · 03/08/2007 12:36

Oh my God Oh my God OHMYGOD

I don't even know where to begin.

I dont join in with the usual of criticism of Jordan but she is a fucking media whore and if she an ounce of sense she wouldn't have done this. But obviously she hasn't.

FFS Does she know how many silly little girls look up to her?

AHHHHHHH

lissie · 03/08/2007 12:37

i feel sorry for that little girl. imagine having jordan as a mother. she is one of the most famous women of our generation and her Tiiami(sp) will have to cope with that (and probably compete with it) strange how the pics of eva herzivoga(sp) werent published in every mag!

lazyemma · 03/08/2007 12:42

I don't think there's any reason to question Jordan's abilities as a mother, or to worry about the wellbeing of her children. Let's get some perspective here.

lissie · 03/08/2007 12:46

im not questioning her abilities as a mother, i really admire her for the way she copes with harvey and speaking about her pnd and mc. what i was trying to say is that some of jordans off the cuff comments would to me (if my mother had said them) been quite hurtful and it must be very hard growing up with a glamorous mother. my best friends mum used to be a model and she always felt v inadequate next to her, and was very aware of the fact that for a lot of her school friends/boyfriends her mother was something of a fantasy figure. imagine that on a much bigger scale.

that was what i was trying to say, just not very well.

Piggy · 03/08/2007 12:47

Would it be appropriate to complain to the ASA? They might just say it's not an advert - do they deal with product placement too. Who else could we complain to? Who publishes OK?

So she wants to ff then fine but her comments and the blatant product placement are outrageous.

WanderingTrelawney · 03/08/2007 12:51

Why did you have a Caesarian?

I could have gone natural but I was more at risk of my uterus erupting [sic]

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

pmsl at a baby erupting from the womb in the manner of molten lava and clouds of dust and gas, or as in the film Alien.

WendyWeber · 03/08/2007 12:52

But there is an advert for SMA right in the middle of the placement pages, piggy - see mamamea's links in her OP.

p52, 53 & 55 - SMA placement; p54 - SMA ad (not for formula but they're not allowed to advertise that)

Piggy · 03/08/2007 12:52

Here's the email address of the editor in case anyone felt like complaining about such blatant and illegal advertising...

[email protected]

LIZS · 03/08/2007 12:59

btw regular OK readers , do they normally carry an SMA ad or has that been done as a one off?

tissy · 03/08/2007 13:11

as a complete aside....did anyone notice the length of the ribbons on the bay's dress? Surely they're an accident waiting to happen.....

tissy · 03/08/2007 13:11

baby's dress...

fedupwasherwoman · 03/08/2007 13:21

Very disappointed in Katie over this one.

rainbow83 · 03/08/2007 13:28

i hate sma & now i hate kate too.

how can you commercialise infant nutrition like that? don't these people have a conscience?

anyway as far as i know kate probably never even bottlefeeds her baby,, in a previous interview about how she fed jordan she just said ...'well his nanny does it!''.
