I think a distorted picture may be being painted

I was once given a £1 and a cornish pasty "for me" by the Salvation Army as i sat in a shop doorway surrounded by bags (had been shopping). Aside from this-no.

I'm pretty sure I never had any negative comments.

WriggleJiggle · 22/06/2007 20:29

Never had a negative comment and have bf all over - planes, restaurants, churches, abroard, everywhere really.
Had lots of positve comments and smiles

Olipop · 22/06/2007 20:30

No negative comments and bf ds until 14 months.........did freak out my (much younger)teenage half brother though by hitting him with a stray jet! I saw it go and kept schtum...he was studying his hand as if to say 'now where on earth did that water come from'. The look on his face when it dawned on him that he'd been LACTATED!!!!!! Fortunately he has a sense of humour!!!

Never, had a few double takes - is that a boob? Oh it is! - but no comments whatsoever, pos or neg.

gybegirl · 22/06/2007 21:02

Only positive comments from everyone which is really lovely

loobylooby · 22/06/2007 21:08

Only once in Le Piaf (London West End), when the waitress told me that my discreet BF at the back of the restaurant (we were sitting at the table right at the back so no-one behind me, and my father was there, so really was being discreet!) was provoking complaints from other customers. I was too spaced out by sleep deprivation to care, but my parents were furious.

no never had any negative comments, had some funny looks from old men once in a cafe but ignored them (it could have been my imagination anyway)
Also- only had support from family too- my dad / uncles/ cousins etc just politely look away or find something to do without making a fuss.

pidgysmum · 22/06/2007 21:29

Only ever got one negative from a bloke on a train who sat next to us. He looked even more put out when I changed DD's pooey nappy...tee hee hee revenge was ours
bf is the best thing in the world ...u are so close and snuggled up - best feeling ever

canmummy · 22/06/2007 21:35

Never! Closest was when I'd just been to cafe with dh for a cuppa, dd3 fast asleep, then 5 mins after we left she woke up hungry - wanted somewhere to sit and feed (but not another cafe!), only place in town with mother and baby room was m&s, got there somebody already using it to feed! So ended up sat in the ladies toilet feeding her and most ladies that came in were appalled I was having to sit in the toilets to feed her

galaxy · 22/06/2007 21:41

Never

ThomCat · 22/06/2007 21:43

Never had any negative comments.

LynetteScavo · 22/06/2007 21:47

Never.

I fed mine for 9 months, 15 months, and 9 months.

sphil · 22/06/2007 21:53

Never. Fed DS1 for 13 months and DS2 for 5.

Judy1234 · 22/06/2007 22:11

Never once and I've fed 5 and I would have loved it- had all kinds of spiel ready to spout back would have been huge fun, never got my chance but then I virtually never see a bottle fed baby actually. It's as if there are areas of the country where no one would dream of using bottles.

Olissa · 22/06/2007 22:56

Not at all (DS is 7 months). The odd positive comment, lots of questions from curious children, and two nice commuters who let me sit down on a train. Until I tried to feed him, I don't think they realised the baby was even there (he was in a sling).

One guy got up and gave me his seat, and then the man next to him got up too so I could have some privacy - to save him embarrassment rather than me, but they were still very nice.

chocolatekimmy · 22/06/2007 23:08

No, not with any of my three

Flamesparrow · 22/06/2007 23:17

None here

berolina · 22/06/2007 23:26

None here. One or two looks, once or twice someone has well-eamningly suggested I might be more comfortable feeding elsewhere, but other than that, just friendly smiles or being taken no notice of.

SSSandy2 · 23/06/2007 10:53

I don't think it's disapproved of at all in Germany though, do you Berolina?

Bramshott · 23/06/2007 11:08

No comments here, although a few looks. Strange comment the other day though from someone who said "ooh, is that yours?" - no, I just breastfeed other people's babies for fun!!

alice40 · 23/06/2007 18:51

None here in Ireland!
