Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

MrsNPattz · 26/10/2012 05:37

Sorry to those having awful nights again. It's definitely worth taking some snacks to bed!

goat oh yes I would say they were healthy, best source of protein I've had for a long time [hgrin]

susie let us know what you order [hsmile]

MrsNPattz · 26/10/2012 05:46

Quick question - should I be worried about my supply with him going that long without feeding? I know night feeds are supposed to be best for milk production [hconfused]

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 26/10/2012 05:47

Just fed now after a good stretch since 1 , she fed then fell asleep on me so I've done the transfer but now she's awake and squirming around so I'm not bothering lying back down until she either falls asleep or, more likely, shouts to be picked up again.

Sorry to see some bad nights going on again, those sleepy mice seem to have been a bit scarce recently don't they.

How does everyone else use Ewan? Do you put him on every time you put your LOs down or just sometimes? What's your favourite leg?

funch how are the nigella cereal bars?

Oh there she goes, shouty baby...

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 26/10/2012 05:56

Up again. She is a very good baby though, so I can't really complain yet.

So what's everyone's plans for the day? Mine is sleep, and maybe read a bit. Mostly sleep though.

MummyVicky18 · 26/10/2012 06:08

My fave Ewan leg is back right if you were to look Ewan face on.
I put Ewan on whilst I'm feeding him to help create a calming effect (even though bf is calming) so when I put him down Ewan is still helping (I hope) but clearly this hasn't helped baby J sleep any better

I think I might try & make some healthy flapjack/ cereal bars today I do need to start eating a bit healthier

funchum8am · 26/10/2012 06:11

I don't think I have been back to sleep since my last post but the fact.I don't know suggests I'm a bit addled!

Cereal bars from Nigella book are nice -peanut and cranberry which I wouldn't have chosen myself bit I stuck to the recipe and they are actually delish!

I put Ewan on every time I put DD back in her basket at night. Fave leg is front left, rain/heartbeat sounds!

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 26/10/2012 06:11

Bah. Ok, now I'm getting concerned. BabyCat has now had two green sharts, so I don't know if anything's wrong.

She's not been feeding any differently, and the sharts weren't in a row (yellow poo, green shart, yellow shart, green shart) - what does it mean? Please tell me it's okay! Sad

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 26/10/2012 06:13

Oh and in the interests of TMI, the sharts are dark green, sticky and bitty - a bit like green tea leaves.

Susieloo · 26/10/2012 06:19

Well that was out longest stretch, a whole three hours, weird night tonight, no idea what that's about.

Welcome missing[hsmile]

mrsn I have ordered a lot of chocolate, mainly peanut butter flavour, a couple of Hershey bars some corn bread mix (always wanted to make corn bread since watching the green mile, even whilst watching a really emotional, sometimes gruesome film I was still thinking about the food). Some smash type stuff, I love smash, the pretzels, some cookie dough bite things, some a1 steak sauce because I want to know what steak sauce is and a jar of peanut butter and grape jello, the striped one that I have seen in a thousand films.

Really wish we didn't have to go to town today, so tired I could weep.

Anyone know if the supermarkets are selling face painting stuff?

Re how do I do this every night I have no idea!!!!!!! I think when you get a run of good nights its like there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Sorry your run of good nights has not extended to this one mini

Re how long do I leave babyloo I tend to wait until his first cry before I do anything, my mum and dp have made comments that I should leave him for longer but I know it will just escalate, he was grizling this morning and when I looked realised he was practically horizontal in his cot with his foot dangling out the side (space saving cot)

Well I'm debating getting up, dp's alarm going off at seven and I just can't see babyloo settling for long.

Have a good day everyone [hsmile]

Susieloo · 26/10/2012 06:22

turq it's fine, a couple of greeny poos like this, I used to call them spinach poos, are okay, if you are worried call your hv, I ring them all the time, I think it's just to do with how they process sugar in foremilk when they have a lot of that. Babyloo still has the odd greeny poo, sometimes one a day.

Smicha · 26/10/2012 06:25

I just got another three hour stint but then was woken up by a cold, wet patch on my duvet and pyjamas where my boob appears to have leaked like crazy Confused I had to wake ds as soon as he started gurgling just to help deal with it!

I put Ewan on when I put ds down after the feed and it really calms him! My fave legs are his back legs. I've decided not to use him during the day so it becomes associated with nighttime and hopefully helps with our routine...who knows if that will work!

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 26/10/2012 06:27

Thanks susie. Why do they have to worry us so damn much? Grin

NervousAt20 · 26/10/2012 06:51

This is a busy thread tonight. I've been writing my reply since our first feed at midnight, think we're on Bout feed 5 now but not to sure. I'm not feeling very human

clums very good idea about heating a towel for after bath time, I think I might pinch that idea from you for tonight

BF positions I use across the body, was shown the rugby ball one but just don't find it very comfortable and there the only 2 I no and was shown

Okay do Ewan is a sheep that helps babies sleep? I'm abit confused I must say. Ill search amazon today at some point hopefully

I've expressed once because my boobs were like 2 hot rocks and got 3oz quite easily between both boobs, could have got alot more but didn't no how much I could take before it would effect DDs feeds

I can't believe my little girl is a week old today Shock !!

Sounds like lots of bad nights all round [hsad]

MissMyBellyButton · 26/10/2012 07:10

Yes lots of green poo here too. Four weeks in and most of her poos are green or mustard sharts. Very annoying as she produces as much poo a day as her brother but in about 10 nappies of little sharts instead of doing one decent one like he does. He was the same hough and I remember one particular night feed three months in when I his nappy EIGHT times.

Heartbeat is favorite here for Ewan.

This is our worst night so far. MrsN,don't worry about supply. BabyBelly has gone five hours a few times and my milk has been fine. Typical that we can't relax and enjoy these rare breaks from the feeding frenzy. BabyBelly was going three hours from birth and, instead of enjoying it, I drove myself mad with worry. I am relaxing now as her weight gain is fine --although last night would suggest these halcyon nights of seven hours' sleep may drawing to a close. 4.5 so far and I have been in bed since 9oc last night.

MrsNPattz · 26/10/2012 07:38

Thanks bellybutton, I know, I should be pleased with that long stretch but I just worry!!

All sounds delicious susie, can't wait until I get paid!!

I have visitors today - MIL, SIL and SIL's fiancé's mum. Not doing anything else - hubby just text saying don't look out of the window because I won't get up so I'm wondering if its frosty or if we have snow!! Oh he just text back......we have bloody snow!!!!!

Goatbongosanonymous · 26/10/2012 07:38

Sorry to hear about the bad nights out there. Us too - Kid yelled pretty much solid all night. Not helped, I think, by me not letting him sleep on me as I am so exhausted I just didn't think it was safe. He is now asleep on my chest while I try and stay awake. Poor thing must be exhausted too!

I am supposed to have the first mother abd baby yoga class today. If they do anything remotely meditative I shall be gently snoring in the ranks!

Favourite Ewan leg here is front left. I wish there was the option to have him on permanently - his stopping almost always wakes Kid.

TeaandHobnobs · 26/10/2012 07:57

MrsN now would be a good time to express, after a 6 hour sleep!

And when expressing, you can keep going until nothing more comes out - there will still be enough milk at the next feed.

Smallgreenone · 26/10/2012 07:59

Snow!!!! [hshock] where do you live mrsn? I thought it was cold here but we don't have frost never mind snow!
Our favourite Ewan leg is his back right if you look at him from the front. Everyone needs one i introduced him at 6 weeks and now at night I can put baby small in his basket and he stays there most of the time. I don't use him in the day either as some sort of weird attempt to make nighttimes easier. Not sure if its working!

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 08:08

Awake again. 3.5 hours. Better than yesterday.

MrsNPattz · 26/10/2012 09:24

small we live in Aberdeen! It's not as much as hubby was making out but it's still there - I think we are going to have a bad winter [hsad]

tea oh you are right! But I'm very unprepared [hconfused] I was going to start when hubby is here so I can get to grips with the pump, steriliser, bottles etc I could maybe hand express some though but it seems like such a waste.

We had a big sicky this morning, have had to put Moses basket mattress and material around the inside/outside in the wash! Poor little mite, going to keep an eye on him today as think he has a yacky tummy again.

missingmymarbles · 26/10/2012 17:36

Oh goodness me!!
Have only just got reception briefly. Can't possibly catch up on more than 10 pages of old thread and 20 of this!!!!!!
Hope everyone well. Hope I didn't miss anything too exciting, like full nights' sleepHmm I don't mean that: I hope you all had full nights' sleepSmile Missmarbles has had a mixed week on that score, but been up no fewer than twice a night.
Have had a lovely holiday. Home tomorrow (therefore decent internet connection and can catch up a bit). Not often I say this, but really wish it was longer. We've really needed this time.

Susieloo · 26/10/2012 17:44

Glad you had a lovely time marbles [hsmile]

I am going to try and push babyloo's bed time back to nearer eight or nine, although he is ready for bed at 7 and is usually asleep after a feed by 7.45 he seems to wake every couple of hours when he goes to bed at this time, he's grouchy already so not sure how this will go tonight, might have to do it gradually!

Hope everyone had a good day [hsmile]

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 18:09

I've had a nice relaxing day, as DS has been with my MIL.
