Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

I was dreading tonight as ds slept all day yesterday so I was expecting him to be awake all night, but instead he just slept 4 hours solid from 10pm! I'm over the moon, but baffled as to why he is so sleepy!

MummyVicky18 · 26/10/2012 02:10

Hi evil, you definitely do right by keeping it dark. Baby J doesn't sleep well but I think he's getting to know the difference between night & day

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 02:31

MV18- thanks. I wish he would settle as I'd like some sleep! I get the feeling it may be a repeat of last night. :( :(

The lady said keep it dark, no noise, and just the minimum amount of contact. She said its ok for him to cry, but not for hours.

So at the moment he is fussing and whimpering in his Moses basket.

Hi all, 1st feeds since 10 here but only had 2 hours because he wasn't asleep until midnight. Lunch today was fab, my friends little girl is 9 months so 7 months between them. Hard to believe they will be in the same school year- she seems so advanced! Baby small slept all the way through lunch from 12.30 until we got home at nearly 5 so am not hopeful for much sleep tonight. He's 8 weeks but struggles with day and night still.
I only had a slice of toast for tea as I had a big lunch and am consequently now starving with no snacks upstairs [hsad]

Susieloo · 26/10/2012 02:40

Can't believe I am back again 2.5 hours later, hate it when he reverts back to two hour feeds. Sounds like there are a few rubbish nights around. I'm going to treat myself to my order from American soda. Am also starving now despite having a big portion of cottage pie for tea.

We have to go into town tomorrow so I can haven flu jab at work and to get some Halloween goodies, going to try and make sure I'm back home for lunchtime ish so we can have a good nap again.

Right going to browse the American soda website to cheer myself up [hsmile]

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 02:42

Why can't my DS sleep?
Evil

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 26/10/2012 02:47

BabyCat was four weeks yesterday, so I could indulge in the miracle of gripe water as she's been getting colicky about 10pm every night. Means I've only had 2 hours sleep .

I've been super nice to DH letting him go to bed while I settle her for the last hour, so favours had better be returned this weekend!

Got to remember to text my mum happy birthday today, but not sure if she'd appreciate the text now?!! [hgrin] Will try to put BabyCat down again now - I really need sleep!

Tallgiraffe · 26/10/2012 03:19

Ok, so this is going to be an un-mumsnetty post, but I love you guys!!!! Ewan is amazing!!! To the newbies on the thread, buy him tomorrow, it will change your life. This is our first feed of the night [hgrin] and babyG has settled himself up till now with Ewan gazing. DH even managed to stay in our bed up until about 2 [hgrin]. I am choked with the cold so haven't actually slept very well, but to know that LO can make it without the midnight feed is wonderful

Ok, gushing over, but seriously, thank you!!

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 03:31

Evil

Tallgiraffe · 26/10/2012 03:34

Ewan the dream sheep, £25 from amazon. Though right now I'd happily have paid 10 times that!!!!

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 03:44

Tail- I'd kill for a cuppa. My DS is STILL awake, and I have not had a cuppa since 0130.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 26/10/2012 03:48

Minipop's run of good night's camera room an and with a 3am wake up call today, just couldn't settle him at all so we're up feeding. Oh well, four nights in a row was probably a bit optimistic :)

funchum8am · 26/10/2012 03:55

vicky, evilwater and all others who have been up.for hours, it's soooo rubbish isn't it? I am having to feed every 2 hours or less tonight and she's waking me up in between feeds with squawking and heavy breathing as her cold isn't quite gone yet. I am seriously sleepy right now!

On the plus side I made new cereal bars from Nigella Express book the other day so have them to keep me going. Think we all deserve some good snacks tonight.

MissMyBellyButton · 26/10/2012 04:01

Hello Everyone, I have lurking as my phone is a bit crap for typing so apologies in advance for typos. It's been lovely reading your posts.

My DD is four weeks old and generally not too bad for settling but is being a bit trying tonight. I've come on here and broken my silence to ask how long you leave yours to whinge before picking them up. I fed my DD for two hours before putting her down at 10.20 tonight and then played Ewan while she grumbled in her cot. No crying but her usual fast breathing and desperate attempts to release her arms from the swaddle. I eventually turned the light on and picked her up to feed again and was Blush to find it was 11.17 so she had been self-soothing unsuccessfully for an hour Blush. I usually only leave her ten minutes but was particularly exhausted after a fraught bedtime with her big brother preceded by a stressful bath for both of them done all by myself, DH being out quaffing champagne at some fancy Soho eatery Angry.

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 04:03

Ohh food.......Nice sweet stuff. All we have is fruit.
10 mins and now he is stirring again. At least I've had as cuppa.
How do you girls do this night after night?

Evil

DuckWaddle · 26/10/2012 04:04

Do you think it's worth getting Ewan the sheep if they're four weeks old or should you introduce Ewan earlier?!

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 04:07

MBB- when his cries get to that, very shouty noise, before the ear curled scream.
At night, I tend to pick him up after a few cries, as my DP has to work.
Evil

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 04:18

DS has not made a noise for 10mins. Do I dare go to sleep?
Evil

funchum8am · 26/10/2012 04:18

missmybb I pick her up if she starts yelping as that means proper crying is about to start and DH has to work. If she is making other noise but not sounding distressed I leave her but she tends not to do this for long, or it turns into proper crying. Not sure how long she goes if I don't wake up but I think I am waking for minimal noise from her! DD is 3 weeks btw. Hope that helps...

Tallgiraffe · 26/10/2012 04:18

MiniG is 4 weeks old, definitely not too late forEwan.

Glad you got your tea Evil. I'm lying here wide awake while LO sleeps, argh this is a rubbish cold [hsad]

MissMyBellyButton · 26/10/2012 04:21

Evil, my DH sleeps in spare room which is on another floor of the house the jammy bastard. DD rarely cries but gets agitated instead which I think is her way of expressing dissatisfaction.

MissMyBellyButton · 26/10/2012 04:24

Thanks for your reply Funch. Typing on this phone is so slow that I can't easily keep up. Sounds like I am lucky to have a baby that doesn't cry much. I deserve it as her brother was a maniac at this age

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 04:26

Thanks tall.
Well, I'm expressing so at least my DS will have something to eat. Then bed.
How are those cereal bars?
Evil

MummyVicky18 · 26/10/2012 05:14

Not quite sure how in doing this every night Confused and I introduced Ewan at 4 months

MrsNPattz · 26/10/2012 05:23

Oh my gosh - we just got from 11-5!! I can't believe it and did a double take when I saw the time. He took ages to settle last night, think he had a sore tummy, but I certainly wasn't expecting this.

Just going to catch up on this very busy thread [hgrin]
