Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

Hope you managed to catch up on some sleep today evil

MrsNPattz · 26/10/2012 18:24

This has been a quiet thread today!

Welcome back marbles, you have not missed much, just more of the same! And lots of food talk [hsmile]

We have had snow on and off all day - crazy when we haven't even had Halloween yet! I haven't left the house all day and plan on doing the same tomorrow. Hubby is driving to Edinburgh and back tomorrow, something to do with his car. Bit gutted as the weekends are so short anyway, but me and little fella are just going to snuggle on the sofa.

I am really disappointed with my dark chocolate pretzels heff, they are a funny colour (like when chocolate starts to go white), they taste ok but I can imagine they would be amazing normally.

Smallgreenone · 26/10/2012 18:31

Brrrrrrrrrr thinking of snow mrsn I'm just feeding baby small and then he'll go to bed at 7 like a well behaved baby. Ha ha ha ha ha! Course he will!!!!! He has been a very grumpy baby today and I have spent most of the day in the park walking round and round and round as I think it's because he is overtired? He has smiled once today and that was it so am feeling a bit unloved! Why do babies not realise that sleep will make them feel better [hconfused].

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 19:21

Nervous-I relaxed, I didn't sleep, as my DS was with my MIL. You'll see why.

So I got him back, asleep. I was told he needed his nappy changed, fine. I undressed him to find is nappy soaked! And a small red area on his bottom. Angry
I do wonder if the nappy has been changed at all!!! As it was very heavy.

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 19:24

By the looks of it, he has been asleep all day. He is full of energy now, I don't think he will sleep tonight.

MrsN SNOW!!! Wow, I thought it felt wintry today and that is definitely wintry. I hope the weather isn't too bad this year as I really need to get out with the buggy at least once a day!

marbles welcome back, glad you had a good holiday!

Evil my ds slept all day yesterday and I expected a horrible night, but it was one of our best for a long time... fingers crossed you get the same!

small my DS has been a real grouch today too. Just could not work out what was wrong with him, especially as he slept all day and lots of the night yesterday. We went to a local baby group to meet some other mums, but he cried all the time so I didn't even get to talk to anyone really. I finally got him to calm down and he's fast asleep now after a 45 minute and then a 30 minute feed in quick succession [shocked] I also tried singing to him and he loved it Hmm I don't know many kids songs so was just making stuff up! Glad no one could hear me Blush

MummyVicky18 · 26/10/2012 19:46

Oh my this it torture!!!! Just started baby J with that super nanny technique and he is crying his heart out. I just don't know whether to be strong and continue or go and settle him as I know how to (on boob)

Also I'm losing my mind and can't think straight so can I have some mummy opinions?

I have been asked out to two events on the same night. One with my mum that will finish about 11pm and one with friends that will be back home for 2/2.30am. Both events are in a months time.

With being tired I'm not sure which to go to. I would like to go to the 2am one but don't know how I'd function with the night feeds once home.

Any thoughts?

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 20:02

MV18- can you explain a bit more about this technique? I don't know anything about it.

Just fed my son and he has downed 7 ounces! That's double what he normally drinks. Did she even feed him?

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 20:05

MV18- could someone do the night feeds for you, that one time?

Hi marbles how was your holiday?

mrsn that's so dissappointing they're normally totally gorgeous, beaten only by the peanut butter ones

We've had a lovely day today, had DD1s swimming lesson in the morning while my dad had the baby, then one of my nct friends came over for coffee and once she'd left we got our wellies on, wrapped babylump up all snuggly, and went to kick the huge piles of leaves in the the park and feed the ducks. Both girls have been great and although I'm tired I'm starting to really enjoy being off with them both despite being terrified to start off with :)

Could do with a good nights sleep tonight...unlikely I suppose but we're 4 weeks through that first six difficult weeks so I'm feeling quite positive today. Watch me eat my words when I'm still up pacing the floors at 2am!

Hope everyone's had good days, here's to even better nights! :)

MummyVicky18 · 26/10/2012 20:28

evil not sure about DH coving night feeds. Currently baby J will only settle with me bf him that's kind of why we are trying a sleep technique to help him get himself to sleep. But if we can crack it then DH would have no problem

The super nanny technique we thought we'd try was controlled crying. ( put baby down to bed if crying return after 5 mins, go in reassure (no picking up or touch) leave even if still crying and return in 10 mins to reassure. Leave even if still crying and return after 15 mins then repeat every 15 as required.)

Baby J has hot so hysterical that we've picked him up and I'm currently soothing him by bf Sad

Susieloo · 26/10/2012 20:28

evil how stressful for you that you don't think mil looked after baby evil for youSad

mummyv I'm going to be in a similar situation in December for my works night out. Can't be of any help because I've no idea how I'm going to manage it. I'm feeding babyloo again to put him to sleep and at this time of night I would be long gone, hope you have some success with your new technique, I know how hard it is to hear them cry.

smicha I couldn't think of any songs to sing when babyloo was hysterical after his jabs so ended up saying 'mummy singing' in a sing song voice, unfortunately this worked so I know have to do it all the time and sound like a right wallyBlush.

Susieloo · 26/10/2012 20:30

heff me and dss kick all the leaves on the mornings we walk up to mils, I love this time of year [hsmile]

Smicha · 26/10/2012 20:46

Ha ha susieloo one of the things I was singing was "mummy is singing to you" so you're not alone! It's amazing what you'll do to stop a baby crying!

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 26/10/2012 20:52

evil that's such a worry for you if you think he's not looked after properly by mil, will you be able to address it somehow so it doesn't happen again?

vicky could you try 'softening' the technique a bit? Leave less time between visits and allow physical contact (stroking, patting etc) but just not the picking up? Or just leave the whole thing for a couple of weeks then try again, maybe he's just not ready yet? Hope you can calm him down and have a good night anyway :)

Me too susie its so beautiful isn't it, and so many things to look forward to :)

MummyVicky18 · 26/10/2012 20:56

I think I might have to soften it. Not sure if I can cope doing that again

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 21:11

MV18- that must be very difficult.

as for the MIL, according to my DP, she can do no wrong. This requires being very tactful.

Evil

MummyVicky18 · 26/10/2012 21:58

Oh dear evil
Shame able mil. I wonder if you gave her specific instructions if she would follow? You need all the support you can get no people sabotaging your efforts

TeaandHobnobs · 26/10/2012 22:27

Mummyvicky I think controlled crying tends to work better on babies over 12 months, because they understand a bit more - I think it is probably too soon just now.

Why don't you ask for advice on the sleep board? I've seen people advocate the "no cry sleep solution" as a softer alternative, and friends of mine have used the shush pat technique.

Hope you can find something that works Smile

Ok 2300 feed done, fingers crossed.
Now I have to pump for rather next one.

MummyVicky18 · 26/10/2012 23:38

Hmmm.... Might look into the 'no cry technique' I really don't think I'm going to get on with him crying like he was.

So what is everyone eating tonight or are you all fast asleep ( I hope Smile)

Evilwater · 26/10/2012 23:44

MV18- I found some biscuits in the cupboard that DP hid.
Evil, trying to settle her 3 week old.

BabylonPI · 27/10/2012 00:03

I've just had two kinder chocolate bars, a very small disaronno and coke and i am now in bed having done the last feed!!

Sprinkling oooooodles of sleepy dust far and wide!!!!!

Catch you all later! Grin

Susieloo · 27/10/2012 00:42

1st feed of the night and its cold tonight!! Babyloo is wearing his walker duvet and I know is not meant to have a blanket as well but might have to in the early hours, he is only wearing a short legged sleep suit underneath.

Hello babylon and nice to see you [hsmile]

I have eaten a white chocolate and strawberry muffin about an hour ago, dp buys muffins he told me the other day because they are 'lighter' so therefore healthy, he was most put put when I told him they were basically quite large fairy cakes!!

Attempting transfer back to cot and hoping for a big zzzzzzzzz

Susieloo · 27/10/2012 00:54
