MrsN don't feel guilty - everyone should understand that some things just aren't possible when you have a young baby. A daytime thing could maybe be a possibility, but that would depend on LO being happy to take a bottle, and you being happy to be apart for that length of time. But I would never expect someone with a young baby to want to stay away overnight!

Sorry that many babies are still causing sleep-deprivation Sad I think many of them are still pretty young? So I hope their breakthrough moment is just around the corner. When I was losing my ability to cope, we did the odd night where DH shared the room with DS and I slept in the next room, and was only awoken for feeds - DS tended to go a bit longer then.

DS is still yelling when he wakes up at night, but we had a bit of improvement last night when he went from 1:00 until 4:45 - I just hope this is an upward trend!

Hi

On last feed before bed, as well, Susie. Hoping (again) for a good night. Perhaps Missmarbles and Babyloo can play in dreamland together tonight. All night. and only stop for a meal once Grin DD at youth club so also hoping Missmarbles settled before she comes in at half past. DH at a meeting. I hate that so much of his work is evening stuff. Ho hum. Had a nice cuppa with a colleague this morning. I told her I'd applied for something else.

Sorry your eye is still giving you grief, Amey. Really hope it clears up soon.

Glad massage was good, MrsN. I'm still on a waiting list for it with Missmarbles. I think she'll enjoy it. DD1 loved it but hated the classes. I think it was because it was around sleepy time and just didn't feel like it. Don't feel bad about the hen night. BabyPattz will still only be little then.

Hope the scan goes well, Nervous.

I think lots of them favour one side and get flat heads. You can get special pillows to help resolve it, if your really concerned. Speak to your HV.

missingmymarbles · 07/11/2012 19:18

Oohh upped chocolate supplies today, and have made rocky road

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 07/11/2012 19:43

Hi, also on last feed before bed. Hoping for a good night! Good luck all.

missingmymarbles · 07/11/2012 19:55

Well Missmarbles was virtually asleep and is now hyper because DD1 burst through the door like the proverbial bill and woke her up...

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 07/11/2012 20:16

Don't feel guilty mrsn, people do have to understand that life with a baby can't always carry on as before, and if you are making the effort to go to the wedding & have given her lots of notice I think you are acting perfectly reasonably and I'm sure your SIL will understand. Glad you enjoyed your baby massage class today, goat how did yours go?

After a lovely morning drinking coffee and eating cake we went out for lunch with my grandad and then babylump decided enough was enough and mummy was having it all far too easy, so since about 3pm she has tried every trick in the book to keep me on my feet with both hands occupied and no time to do anything else. I'm starting to feel a bit crazy, she isn't hungry but the only thing keeping her quiet is giving her a boob to chew otherwise she's just yelling and yelling. I feel awful for not knowing what's wrong (tried all the obvious, I think it must just be a mix of wind and over stimulation) but also desperate for a break. DH then came in and said he's going to snooker now and I had a little cry because its ok for him to go out when he likes but I can't go anywhere without it being a military operation and even then I can't exactly leave babylump behind. Sorry to whinge, just one of those evenings tonight I think :(

Hope everyone else's evenings are going well and babies are settling down for bed.

How are you feeling now amey?

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 07/11/2012 20:17

P.s funch did you give in to any of the tasty goodies in Mr Simms?!

Goatbongosanonymous · 07/11/2012 20:33

Great to hear you enjoyed massage mrsn so did we. There were about 8 mums, a really nice bunch, and an excellent teacher. Much to my surprise, Kid enjoyed it too, and lay gurgling happily for nearly half an hour, having his legs and feet attended to. I think that is the longest he has ever lain contentedly on his back. A real shame that we have to miss next week, when we would be covering chest and tummy massage, but we have immunisations.

Ouch susie may that not last long! And good to hear the weight gain is fine, daisy - the hvs have such an obsession.

Congrats tea that's fifteen minutes off officially sleeping through!

Rocky road, marbles ? I hope the supply is limitless! Yum!

amey that sounds like you are having a rubbish time - you need some of marbles' rocky road.

Good luck gazelle !

heff there is definite telepathy going on! kid had exactly the same late afternoon/evening. Just wouldn't settle no matter what, grizzly and demanding. I think he used up all his be-nice-to-mummy-ness in the cafe and massage! Fingers crossed for tonight... I would like more than a half hour's sleep between midnight and 7 am!

missingmymarbles · 07/11/2012 20:43

I am still feeding/settling Missmarbles since DD1 woke her. However, have just had a hilarious few minutes. After an unsuccessful transfer when I thought she was sparko, she woke up chatting but could hardly keep her eyes open. I picked her up thinking she would go floppy and I'd put her back but I was trying not to make eye contact, and while still talking and still battling with her own eyelids she grabbed my nose and giggledGrin

Ok transfer attempt número dos ........ I hope this is not prophetic of the night ahead.

MrsNPattz · 07/11/2012 21:01

Thanks for all the replies about SIL - I feel better now. Hubby has his work Christmas night in the middle of December and I don't really want to go to that but feel I should Hmm vicky you are right, we will eventually get back to our adult selves lol but I'm not really missing it to be honest!

And thanks for advice re flat head, I'm not too worried but will keep an eye on it.

goat glad you enjoyed massage too - we did legs and feet today as well Grin

heff sorry you have had a rough afternoon - I know exactly what you mean about hubby's just being able to go out when they please! Mine says I can do the same but it's not as easy as that is it.

Hope tonight brings some sleep for us all Confused

Ameybee · 07/11/2012 21:10

Def dont feel guilty mrs n - I was stressed about giving expressed milk in a bottle & my best friend asked why n I said err well DH days me n u can have a night in town then & she said did I really want to that badly & not to get stressed as we can have lunches out etc with baby, when I really thought about it I'm too knackered and fat to go out in town!!! All my workmates are trying to get me to go on Xmas do but I'm not, I won't enjoy it worrying all night whether baby bee has taken bottle etc!

Feel a bit crap heff, its just so sore and itchy :( its frustrating, just want it better! It's DD's 3 rd bday at weekend n she's having a party - might theme it to pirates so I can wear eye patch! Ill scare kids otherwise! Decided if its no better by Friday I'm going to beg gp for steroid drops because I've had enough now!

Well good luck everyone, it seems most of these babies have not behaved last couple of nights! Xxx
Small - are u feeling better? X

MummyV18 · 07/11/2012 21:11

Virtual hugs heff and anyone else that needs one Smile

Hopefully you all get a good night tonight. I think I'm in for another rough night. Only put baby J down half hour ago and he's now awake again.

funchum8am · 07/11/2012 21:16

Sorry to hear your eye can't be easily fixed amey and about your awful afternoon heff. I did indeed spend a stupid amount of money on pretzel flips in the sweet shop (got 3 different types!). I hope that a few last the first feed!

Had babyfunch weighed for the first time since day 5 and she is putting on weight really well. phew. HV gave me some useful tips for getting her to sleep less in the daytime and more at night and I have started already! She was put in her Moses basket after a change and a feed, and put in our room with the monitor on at 7pm so we get our evening as couple time. I had to go up once soon after 7 to feed again but she has been asleep (or at least quiet) ever since. I am going to make sure she takes a full feed if she wakes at night, so hopefully will sleep longer after each feed. Supposedly....

Spreading pretzel dust....

MrsNPattz · 07/11/2012 21:30

funch please share what flavour flipz you got lol Grin

PoppyWearer · 07/11/2012 21:39

Hello all! I was on the original thread offering advice but DC2 is now a whopping 14mo and STILL waking for night feeds.

I have discovered that his diet is causing ishoos so hoping to get that cracked. But he still wakes for cuddles repeatedly and I am craving sleep.

At least last night I had the US elections to read about.

Oh good. He has just woken up.

funchum8am · 07/11/2012 22:48

Hi poppy welcome back. The thread is still going incredibly strongly!

Pretzel flipz are milk choc, white fudge, and peanut butter!

DD feeding so off to be ruthless and fill her up properly!

MummyV18 · 07/11/2012 23:55

funch are the pretzels tasty/ worth their money? I'm tempted to buy some

Quick Q.... Do u think baby J can sense us??? We put him to bed at roughly the same time every night and he falls asleep by roughly 8pm. Now depending on tiredness/what's on tv/talking to DH we come to bed anywhere between 9 & 11. Whenever we do come to bed though even though Baby J is asleep give it 5 mins after our heads hit the pillow and he wakes up crying. Not fair lol

Goatbongosanonymous · 08/11/2012 00:08

Hello poppy

Hope you are getting some well-earned sleep, heff

funch I feel a strange magnetic attraction to said shop after your description.

amey that's so Sad about your eye. But pirates sound great! And so topical with the Adventures with Scientists film at the mo.

vicky I do think the babies can sense us. My mil was trying to settle Kid once and I walked into the room without saying anything. There was an instant escalation in the crying. I exited again rapidly! (leaving mil to sing hysterically funny songs that she will never live down!! But they worked!)

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 08/11/2012 00:17

Thanks for the virtual hugs, much needed tonight!

I think she has finally settled down, snoozing soundly on my tummy looking every inch the angel, not a sign of the screaming shouting hooligan of an hour ago. Still, at least whatever was bothering her had hopefully passed, I'm enjoying a little snuggle before putting her down. I always feel exceptionally guilty at the end of a bad spell, like I've not done my best for her and I've taken her for granted so a nice cuddle redresses the balance again :)

funch I'm jealous, I finished my peanut butter ones yesterday. Not sure if those or the dark choc ones are my favourite, MV you absolutely need to try some!

Hi poppy welcome back, sorry to hear you're still having disturbed nights though.

MummyV18 · 08/11/2012 00:33

Well I'm still up Hmm

Where is the best place to buy these pretzels? Americansoda? Or is there a better place for value?

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 08/11/2012 00:52

I'm not sure about American soda mv but the shop on the high street here sells them at £5 a bag. I don't buy them for myself as its a bit pricey but DH knows where to go if he ever wants to bank a few brownie points!

Finally put babylump down and she woke up straight away, but have wrapped her up and put her cocoon at the dark end of the living room and she seems to have dropped off again :)

My only problem now is I've just discovered Gone in 60 Seconds is on telly which is one of my favourite ever films. Dilemma do I stay up to hear one of my favourite lines which is about 20 minutes away or do I go to bed...should be a no brainer really but still I find myself sitting here!

Someone kick me and make me go to bed!

Susieloo · 08/11/2012 01:34

1st feed of the night and babyloo seems to think its morning as he is full of beans!!!

I actually don't feel that bad after 5 hours sleep but don't fancy getting up just yet, third set of jabs in the morning and then that's it until 12 months I think.

Hope the sleepy mice are around tonight for everyoneSmile

Smallgreenone · 08/11/2012 01:49

I'm ok thanks amey the antibiotics are working nicely and I think the boob is a bit less painful too. I can cope with that now the fluey feeling has gone. Sorry to hear about your eye though, really hope it gets better soon. I do like the pirate idea though Grin
mummyv yes I think babies can sense when you're in the room- smell perhaps? Not sure but they do know!
heff did you stay up?!
Baby small is up earlier than normal tonight, we normally get to 2 or 3 so am taking this as a bad sign for tonight.

Susieloo · 08/11/2012 01:53

And we're still up........

Ameybee · 08/11/2012 02:21

Every 2 hours again here :(. I'm wondering whether to do a nappy change to wake him up a bit more in the hope he takes more milk and goes longer?! But then I run the risk of waking him up n him not going back down! Need to go downstairs for orange juice and snack and eye bathing now then be up again at 4 I bet!!! What id give for a 3 or 4 hour block......
