Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

Hope those antibiotics kick in soon small.
Mrsn you may well find LO does scream or cry a bit 1st session as you need to build up tolerance. Lots do, no one. will mind. Even if you spend most of it cuddling and watching, at least you can practise at home.
People on this thread have cool jobss! I am a full time phd student and do bits and bobs of tutoring and admin too, main advantage being its all done from home. l go back in Feb but shall keep up bff for at least a year.
Sat watchhing Masterchef and feeling hungry!

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 06/11/2012 20:52

I took dd1 to baby massage mrsn, she didn't hold much truck with it during the day while we were there but I just fed & cuddled her instead while watching the others and then in the evenings after bath time she was usually much more receptive. Hope you enjoy yourselves :)

small that sounds awful you poor thing, hope the anti b's kick in v soon.

I'm in pain tonight, have had niggling tooth ache for about a week and suddenly now its stepped up a gear and my whole jaw hurts right up to my ear :( trying to ignore it as can't get to dentist until Monday when DM is around to have the DCs, Monday seems a long way off.

There are some really interesting jobs on this thread, I always hate telling people what I do in RL because its such a conversation killer.

Interested person: "So Heff what do you do?"
Heff: "I'm an accountant"
No longer so interested person: "oh...so, um, the weather..".
Heff: :(

How has everyone's day been?

Ameybee · 06/11/2012 21:18

Thanks for all the sympathy ladies - DH just keeps making 'eye eye jokes' and thinking its hilarious - git! I look quite scary, shame its not Halloween! I have drugs - only fusidic acid drops tho!It got worse today but guess I have to give drops chance to work, some sleep would help! I really hope baby bee goes longer than 2 hours tonight!
Small - feel really sorry for you :( its hard enough taking care of baby without having something like mastitis! Hope the antibiotics work their magic overnight! It must be the time of year as everyone including mummy's and babies seem to be ill!
Hope everyone feels better and gets some sleep!
Love the term 'poonami!' Very funny!

Just to make everyone smile - my DD was 'breast feeding' her baby annabel doll tonight n she suddenly stopped and said 'oh, I haven't got any boobies! Then examined her nipples in great detail & said ''I have got these, err what are they, yes my nippys!!' (Just to clarify I've never called them that!) god knows what she tells them at nursery!!! X

MummyV18 · 06/11/2012 21:50

Lol heff I have a job like that. I work for an insurance company (not cold calling, could never do that)

Hope you are all feeling a bit better & I have my fingers crossed for a good nights sleep

(Sorry not read too far into the posts, spent a bit if time with hubby and now I'm off to bed)

Speak to u all soon

MummyV18 · 06/11/2012 21:53

Lol amey that is so cute/funny with your dd

MrsNPattz · 06/11/2012 21:53

Daisy and Heff thanks for that re massage, makes me feel better. Daisy am I ok to go with a cold? Worried I will pass it to the other babies Confused Heff hope you can hang on til Monday, nothing worse than toothache (well there is, mastitis and eye infections being up there but you no what I mean Grin)

Aw Amey that made me smile about your little girl Smile lol at nippys!

Little man has not stopped feeding all day and has hardly slept, he conked out an hour ago and I thought that was us at least for a couple of hours but nope, only lasted half an hour. He was sick so don't know if that woke him, but he is feeding again now Hmm

MummyV18 · 06/11/2012 22:23

Ok so maybe I'm not going to bed Hmm

Baby J has sensed I was getting comfy and has woken up Confused

MrsNPattz · 06/11/2012 22:33

Hubby keeps saying 'oh he's never been this bad before' when he's crying, but its the same crying as every night - all the sleep he is getting must be effecting him Envy

Susieloo · 06/11/2012 22:34

Evening all, not sure I'm liking this new feed at half ten that seems to have crept in! Took me ages to go to sleep (me) and now here we are!!

We have our third and last set of jabs tomorrow so have enlisted the help of my mum and dad to help me with the 4-5pm grumpiness!!

Hope everyone who is poorly starts to feel better soon and gets some decent sleep, my prediction is we will be up again at 1 and then 4 and then he did let me have a lie in until 7 this morning by dozing in his cot for an hour.

I'm starving and it's too cold to go downstairs and forageGrin

BabylonPI · 06/11/2012 23:16

Well ds' longest sleep was 45 minutes last night Sad

I took him to be weighed today and he's doing really well at 27+4 and 20lb14oz.

HV asked how I was and I just unravelled and became a big blubbering mess SadBlush

DH not being overly supportive of sleepless nights, and I've spent most of today veering from angry and stroppy to mardy and crying in about 3 seconds flat Sad

Praying for a better night tonight! Sleepy dust for all Grin

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 06/11/2012 23:23

Ah amey that is very cute!

Babylump had a vom volcano all over me tonight, my dressing gown absorbed most of it so I've had to nick DHs which isn't as fluffy and doesn't have midnight biscuits in the pockets. She's had a bath now and is all clean smelling and snuggly, unfortunately not very sleepy yet though.

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 06/11/2012 23:25

Oh babylon poor you, have a and some RL chocolate if you've got any. Was your HV helpful?

BabylonPI · 06/11/2012 23:32

Thanks Heff

HV was kind of helpful, in that she said I need to try and give DS more carbs of an evening as they will fill him for longer, but then she said that DS waking up could just be habit and I should get someone else to tend to himConfused

DH can try, but he needs to sleep as he's operating various machinery through the day and we don't need him cutting off fingers/arms etc Hmm

It's only the tiredness that's made me cry today, and I don't normally get this tired - this too shall pass huh??!

funchum8am · 06/11/2012 23:38

Sorry you're feeling like that babylon, it is do hard when you have to do everything yourself. My DH is sleeping merrily away while I deal with overly wakeful baby who has slept ALL day and is now full of beans.

We had an Enormovom situation here too, just after a really long feed this evening, and so my boobs are running on empty so she's struggling to feed which isn't helping with the wakefulness! I am sloop tired though....spreading sleepy dust and get well soon sprinkles to all who need them :)

MrsNPattz · 07/11/2012 00:02

babylon you poor thing - it's so hard feeling like you are on your own and lack of sleep makes it worse. Sending hugs and biscuits to you BiscuitBearBiscuit

We are still up but am going to attempt transfer now...............

NervousAt20 · 07/11/2012 00:04

Evening ladies

Sorry to hear that so many of you are feeling ill, hope antibiotics/eye drops work soon and a trip to the dentist can wait until Monday

Grin amey abou your little girl that did make me smile

babylon hope your okay and get some sleep tonight, it's awful when your so shattered it really drags you down

mrsn enjoy your class tomorrow, even if your LO does scream during it hopfully you'll still pick something up that you can try ad use at home

BabyN has been very awake today so hoping that she goes abit longer between feeds tonight but she has a habit of becoming wide awake at bed time Sad we also got her letter through for her hip scan this month so getting anxious for that to be over and we have some good clear results

Some of you have very interesting jobs, I've left my job to be a SAHM, I was half way through a course aswell so when LO is alot older ill hopefully go back to that and finish it but I'm not in a rush too

Hmm in sure there was loads I was going to say but my brains not functioning properly sorry

throws buckets full of sleepy dust at everyone

NervousAt20 · 07/11/2012 00:04

Wow long post anyway Smile

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 07/11/2012 00:27

This too shall indeed pass babylon :) but feeling crap is feeling crap and its all well and good to know it'll all be ok in a week/month/year but sometimes you need a hug and a bit of support right now. Really hope you get some decent sleep tonight and things seem brighter in the morning.

funch your typos recently have really been making me chuckle. First blobs and now you've got me humming 'Sloopy hang on' and wondering if being sloop tired is better or worse than just your average tired?! Grin

nervous how long do you have to wait for the hip scan?

MummyV18 · 07/11/2012 00:54

Biggest sympathies babylon it feels never ending doesn't it. I hope u get some luck by adding more carbs before bed and get some much needed sleep.

I can see this is going to be an awful night Sad 2nd time up already. I need to get up early to have a shower & take him to baby group too. At this rate I'm really not going to want to go but I'd hate for baby J to miss out

Goatbongosanonymous · 07/11/2012 01:33

Lots of posts again! Sorry to hear about the various illnesses etc Sad - mastitis, eye infection, colds etc. hope these clear up very soon for small amey and mrsn
Babylon I really hope you get some rest. Err, the second thing perhaps not the most useful thing for the hv to say, to get someone else to help - I thought that was the point?!
mrsn we start massage tomorrow too. Not sure how this will go in the beginning, especially as Kid had the reputation in the NNU of being a 'touchy little guy' when he had anything done to him. Although there is a difference between having a tube rammed down one's nose and lovely, soothing massage, I guess! The instructor kindly sent me some stuff to do before the course when she saw he was a prem, so I have been trying to get him used to firm touch on his torso in particular. So far he tolerates it, if with a distinct air of 'well if you must, I guess it's a mummy thing!'
funch I too am loving your typos! Sloop tired just sums it up...
Hello to everyone and apologies to everyone I have missed!

Susieloo · 07/11/2012 02:14

2nd feed of the night and can't keep my eyes open so pass the matchsticks!!

babylon sleep deprivation is truly horrendous, sending you an un mn hug.

funchum8am · 07/11/2012 02:15

Oops need to check better for typos! Glad they are funny even if accidentally!

So tired and also cold :(

MummyV18 · 07/11/2012 02:32

Up again Sad

I'm getting that desperate for sleep now I've been looking into allsorts. I've considered another bed in baby J's room ( so one of us can sleep, although couldn't fit another bit if furniture in if I tried) I've looked into night nannies. I've looked at my daycare options to see if I can get day sleep.

Think I'm going to ring my hv in the morning to see if she can help at all

NervousAt20 · 07/11/2012 03:21

Second feed of the night but we haven't had a really good feed so I don't think it will be long until the next one Sad

heff babyN will be 4w 4d when she has her scan but they said they do it between 4 and 6 weeks

vicky could you fit something like a camper bed maybe? There normally smaller then a mattress and you can fold them away after each night? I hope you get some sleep tonight x

funchum8am · 07/11/2012 03:45

I know how you feel mummyv I have been trying to think of a way to get some sleep. It has only been this bad from today for me so am holding off on ideas like giving DH formula to give her and sending them out for a day on Saturday but if I am still this tired by then, I will be doing it. Hopefully your HV will know of any services you can use;sleep deprivation is really debilitating and just a small amount of extra sleep would really help.

I am going to drop DD if I am not careful so better go!
