smicha whatever it is I hope they are getting it out of their systems once nd for all. Tonight we have had the poonami, the wee fountain and the projectile vomit. Are we missing anything?
Serve me right for thinking tonight was okay...

Smicha · 06/11/2012 06:16

I think we are up for the day as he is wideawake and all gurgly and cute, after peeing and puking his way through a nappy change!

Is there a full moon tonight?! Maybe that's the cause of this behaviour!

MrsNPattz · 06/11/2012 07:35

Feeding here, whether its up time or not I'm not sure.

small and amey hope you feel better soon - hope it's not mastitis small but better to get it checked.

How long is everyone planning to breast feed for? I want to get to 6 months and then take it from there.

Susieloo · 06/11/2012 08:05

Just checking if anyone would like two mothercare wadded sleepsuits size 3-6 months? They are 2.5 tog and babyloo has only worn them for about a week and tgen we had to go up a size, the one he has only worn once, I will just bung them in a Jiffy bag if anyone wants them otherwise they will go to a charity shop I expect, Pm me if you doSmile

Have a good day everyone Smile

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 06/11/2012 09:15

Didn't manage to post last night, luckily babylump fed quickly and we t down again so I'm happy this morning. She even went to sleep at a reasonable 11pm last night too, I could get used to that although something tells me I shouldn't expect to!

Today is DD1s first day back at her childminder's after a couple of weeks off, babylump and I are going to have a quiet day as im really behind with the housework :( Meeting my nct friends this morning then there's a mountain of washing to be dealt with, oh how exciting!

Did anyone use their pixiefoto voucher from the bounty pack? They had a mobile studio in town at the weekend so as we were passing and they weren't busy we got babylump's photos taken but can't collect the prints until next week. I don't know whether to expect to be impressed or disappointed. Certainly wont be able to afford all of them so would be helpful if some weren't as good as others!

So what does/did everyone do for a living before babies? (Understand if anyone wants to keep this to themselves!) I'm a boring old accountant, it pays the bills but isn't exciting and some days I wish I had a job like yours funch where I could say I love it.

Right we're going to crawl out of bed now, breakfast calls. Hope all the poorly mums & babies start to feel better. Have a lovely day everyone :)

MrsNPattz · 06/11/2012 09:37

heff I haven't used the photo vouchers, but we used a Groupon for a local company and we were so pleased, we go back for more in Feb. So you may be pleasantly surprised Smile

I'm a civil servant ( won't say which part I work for or I may get lynched Grin) it's not what I want to be doing but as I have no idea what else I want to do it will do for now! I would really like to be a weight watchers leader when I get back to goal (if I get back to goal lol)

Ameybee · 06/11/2012 11:18

Eye much worse this morning... Groan, prob lack of sleep! DD keeps staring at me!! I will have chapped hands by the end of the day from washing then all the time!
I'm a paediatric radiographer at a children's hospital, this makes for a very paranoid parent I can tell u! Everything is a potential accident/ terrible disease to me! DH gets sick of my overreacting! X

Smallgreenone · 06/11/2012 11:26

It is mastitis Sad have got some antibiotics and been advised to keep feeding and expressing and get plenty of rest which is just so easy with a 10 week old Confused.
At least I can't pass it on to baby small or DH!

Smicha · 06/11/2012 11:35

Ow poor small get lots of Brew and Biscuit and relax. Once I started the antibiotics it cleared up pretty quickly.

amey sorry to hear about the eye, hope it gets better soon.

I'm planning to bf to six months and then take it from there.

As for work, I write policy for a local authority. Boring! I'm not sure whether to go back...I've taken the full 52 weeks mat leave and have already hinted that I would like to go back part time as work is an hour's drive away and 5 full days with 2 hours commuting is too much with a 1yo. Not sure my brain is quite ready to be a sahm though...need to give it some thought!

Ameybee · 06/11/2012 11:48

Ah poor you small :( hope that clears up super quick! You're right - impossible to get rest with little one! Do u have anyone who can give you some help at home? X

MrsNPattz · 06/11/2012 11:52

Sorry you are feeling rotten amey and small, really hope you both feel better soon.

I am taking the 52 weeks maternity, and going back 3 days. Then I will start to think about looking for something else!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 06/11/2012 12:11

Ouch small, hope that clears up quickly. DS finally conked out around 5am and my Mum took him until 8am, and after I fed him then she took him til 11am, and DH now back from play group with DD, so have managed some sleep this morning and feel better for it.

I am a solicitor. Specialise in insolvency, which I do really enjoy. Am having 6 months off and then will go back full time. DH is a chef and arranges his shifts around my work, so DC will be at home with him 3 days and at nursery for 2.

funchum8am · 06/11/2012 12:12

Sorry to hear it was the dreaded mastitis small, I hope the antibiotics work their magic fast.

amey huge sympathy too, do you have drugs (for the eye that is!)

I am also planning to bf until 6 months, but am back at work full time just before DD is 5 months old (dh then takes over at home) so may face problems expressing etc at work, using bottles of ebm etc.

missingmymarbles · 06/11/2012 12:27

Sad Hope you both feel better really quickly, Amey and Small BrewBiscuit

Having a really lazy day today. Weather is grot. Missmarbles asleep in my arms for her nap - I'll probably rue that, but loving the cosiness of it on such a wet day Grin

I'm a nurse, and really enjoy it, but not where I've been working for the year leading up to ML. As I said, I'm looking for something else. I am part time anyway but hope to drop two shifts a month, and get set hours if poss . Unfortunately, I have to go back after the 39 weeks as we can't afford for me not to earn anything; I do as few hours as I can get away with for family balance. I think I would always work; it's good for me, maintains my registration, and keeps us afloat, but I wish I wasn't under pressure to go back when I am, even the 52 weeks would be a bit soon I think.

Goatbongosanonymous · 06/11/2012 12:32

Oh no, Kid has caught the dreaded tummy bug from DH Sad
Fortunately it's not very bad but we are watching for dehydration. He is out of sorts and doesn't want to be put down. Poor thing!

I go back to work on April 15, in time for the third term. I'm a lecturer in a music college. That is marking term so I am hoping to be quite flexible with hours and working from home.

Goatbongosanonymous · 06/11/2012 12:34

That's Kid who doesn't want to be put down, not DH! Grin

Susieloo · 06/11/2012 13:39

Sad at all the poorliness around, hope kid, small and amey feel better soon and hello to madam*.

My job is a bit dark so I won't go into detail but I work for the probation service in the victim unit so work with people who have been the victims of really serious offences. I love my job but I'm dreading going back to work full time but as the biggest wage earner I don't have any choice, the thought of spending all day everyday with babyloo for six months and then leaving him everyday for 8 hours five days a week makes me feel quite hysterical at the momentSad. I'm planning on bf until January but will start weaning in December although if babyloo does any more damage to my nipple I might be stopping tomorrow!!

I am expecting a poonami of epic proportion at some point today, this is the longest he has ever been without going for a poo since he was born!!

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 06/11/2012 15:16

Oh no smicha hope that clears up soon for you :(

I fed DD1 for a year so hoping to do the same again with DD2, I went back to work last time when DD1 was nearly 9 months, did 6 months full time then had a bit of a meltdown and dropped a day which was the best decision ever and made everything feel much more balanced. I'm also really glad I had those special mummy & daughter days (sorry, that sounds a bit bleurg doesn't it?!) with DD1 before babylump was born. I will probably go back to work after the 39 weeks this time (had 11months overall last time) as we're really hoping our move to Cornwall will happen next year so the sooner I am earning again the better, babylump will be 9 months by then too so hopefully it will all work out.

Having a lovely sleepy cuddle on the sofa now, there's chores to be done upstairs but we haven't had a proper cuddle all day so I'm just enjoying it and blocking the chores from my mind for a bit.

Forgot to say earlier, welcome madamegazelle :)

funchum8am · 06/11/2012 16:00

Babyfunch took a bottle for my DM when I nipped to the shops! YAY! However apparently she practically inhaled the 5oz I had expressed in seconds and then yelled for milk til I got back soon afterwards so it looks like I need to do some serious pumping if I want to build up a stash. So, so worth it if it means DH can do an early morning feed though, and also means I can leave her with people eg GPS or DH while I nap, nip out or go into work. Please let this not be a one off!

How are you small and amey?

Fascinating to hear about everyone's jobs too :)

missingmymarbles · 06/11/2012 17:26

Missmarbles only took an ounce an a half of ebm from bottle today, but I had to give it; it may be more successful with someone else doing it, and plus it's only day 3 of training. Anyone else feel like it's slightly wrong giving a bottle? I don't mean that it's wrong to give a bottle, not at all, I just mean I love breastfeeding and giving a bottle makes me feel redundant, and also I feel a bit guilty coz when she got mad and I ended up having to feed anyway she really guzzled then went all floppy with relaxation.

DD1 and I made a joint decision to finish BF around 14 months last time. I hope to make a joint decision some time after a year, again this time.

Smallgreenone · 06/11/2012 18:12

Hi ladies, I'm surviving! It's so horrid though and I have spent a large chunk of the day crying Sad. Going to have a hot bath when DH gets home. They say to massage the boob but its so painful I can hardly touch it so god knows how I'm going to cope with massaging it. Hoping for antibiotics to work miracles overnight!
Work wise I work for an outdoor clothing company doing product development. It's an hour away from home so will struggle to go back unless they can do some sort of working from home scenario. I'm not thinking about it just yet as hopefully will take the full year.

MrsNPattz · 06/11/2012 18:22

I have a full blown cold today and I'm freaking out that little man is going to get it - it's pretty much a certainty right? I have been washing my hands like a maniac and trying to catch my sneezes but there is not an awful lot else I can do is there? There must be lots going around as I know some of you guys and your little ones have had them.

It's baby massage for us tomorrow AM, I'm a bit nervous now! What if he cries the whole time? What if he hates it? Lol

Hope small and amey are doing ok.

Yes it's nice finding out about everybody! Although I usually forget a lot of things and have to ask again a few days later Grin

MrsNPattz · 06/11/2012 18:23

Cross post small, really sorry you are suffering - sending hugs BearBiscuit

missingmymarbles · 06/11/2012 20:08

Oh SmallSad I hope you get some sleep and feel better in the morning.

daisychain76 · 06/11/2012 20:31

Hope those antibiotics kick in soon small.
Mrsn you may well find LO does scream or cry a bit 1st session as you need to build up tolerance. Lots do, no one. will mind. Even if you spend most of it cuddling and watching, at least you can practise at home.
People on this thread have cool jobss! I am a full time phd student and do bits and bobs of tutoring and admin too, main advantage being its all done from home. l go back in Feb but shall keep up bff for at least a year.
Sat watchhing Masterchef and feeling hungry!
