Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

That does sound really tough mummyvicky, I hope the sleep situation improves for you soon.

Given Babyriver cluster feeds until quite late (9 or 10 pm), I'm not sure what counts as a night feed? Anyhow, this is just the second time I've been woken up since then which I'm pretty happy with as it means I've had a couple of blocks of 3 hour sleeps so feel ok.

Right, am going to attempt the transfer to Moses basket ...

Smicha · 30/10/2012 04:57

Hi all DS has continued last night's pattern of sleeping for an hour then waking for a very short feed before falling back to sleep Sad Gone are the 3 hour sleeps!

I don't know how to get him to take more milk so he sleeps longer - any suggestions?

I have a skeleton babygro that Dsis bought for LO and plan to put him in it even though it is a bit big! No plans for us though although I will look like I'm in costume with these bags under my eyes

MummyVicky18 · 30/10/2012 05:12

All I can think of smicha is trying to feed baby J more in the last hour before bed.

I've started giving him a bottle before bed or a dream feed but as of yet its not worked for me.

The bonus of the party if we go us that its kiddy friendly and starts early so it won't be too much of a strain lol

MummyVicky18 · 30/10/2012 05:15

Just read that back & its not worded well.

Maybe you could try to fill LO more before bed to go longer or dream feed? X

Smicha · 30/10/2012 05:32

I'll give that a go mummyv and I understood your first post Smile I'm surprised any of us make any sense at this time!

On the plus side, ds is falling back to sleep really easily after these short feeds...every cloud and all that!

MrsNPattz · 30/10/2012 05:47

Second feed here - he seems to awake for this time in the morning [hconfused]

Thanks nervous

I have a pumpkin baby grow for little fella to wear tomorrow - cant wait to take lots of pics. We are not doing anything but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to dress him up [hgrin]

NervousAt20 · 30/10/2012 05:48

mummyv I have a pumpkin all in one baby grow for babyN [hgrin] she wasn't due until early November and I always said if she come early I would make sure I could dress her as a pumpkin, I have been call cruel though lol

NervousAt20 · 30/10/2012 05:50

Oo we have some pumpkins to carve too things can get quite competeitive and have been invited to a Halloween party that I would really liked to have gone too but not sure we will

Smallgreenone · 30/10/2012 05:50

Hi again, very very sleepy here. We're doing Halloween, I've bought baby small a pumpkin outfit and I'm going as a big mummy pumpkin. I can't wait!! Party is on Friday afternoon, strange I've never been to a babies party before and I can't wait. Hope baby smile is in a smiley mood and not a grumpy one!! I've got to yo into work today so probably not going to get any more sleep now early night for me tonight.

Ameybee · 30/10/2012 06:12

Transfer faliure & explosive poo & clothes change... Groan!

Susieloo · 30/10/2012 06:19

We are up for the day, it would have to be on my first kit day!! Really dreading leaving him when he's so reluctant with a bottle, it's only 3.5 hours and I am looking forward to putting on a work dress and heels and a pumpkin spiced latte from Starbucks! I know what you mean amy about just wanting a hug and some acknowledgement that its really hard, I keep getting 'welcome to parenthood' Angry because that's really helpful!!! I've also decided that we are not going on my works night out in December, I just don't think I will be able to enjoy myself and I would have to leave at half ten. They need the rest of the money today which has made me have to make my mind up.

Right, coffee time

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 30/10/2012 06:21

Awake again, but not for a feed, but to give DH the promised lift to the train station bollocks.

mummy either the other mums are lying or AT THE MOMENT their babies are sleeping more. Just wait, I bet you sleep regression will bite them on their bums soon enough (just when yours starts sleeping through [hgrin]).

Smicha · 30/10/2012 06:52

And we are up again. Grrr.

Susie good luck with your kit day! I've made plans to take ds in to meet my colleagues tomorrow so he has been instructed to be on his best behaviour!

An old university friend is coming to visit us today so I hope we can sneak in another hour's sleep or I may not be able to hold a sensible conversation! Excited to see her though and introduce her to mini smich.

ValiumQueen · 30/10/2012 06:59

Night 5 was shocking. I had forgotten it is this hard. Slept from 4 to 6 I think. All a bit vague. See you tonight.

And thank you for the good luck wishes. I do need it! grin

MummyVicky18 · 30/10/2012 08:00

Ha ha thanks turqoise I really do hope so

I made DH get up at 6.30 with baby J so I could get some more rest (unfortunately I didn't drop off to sleep) but DH has gone off to work now and baby J is still crying so were getting up.

See you all tonight Smile

MrsNPattz · 30/10/2012 08:17

Feeding again here and probably up time! He took ages to settle earlier but eventually got another hour!

Hope work goes ok susie

Smicha · 30/10/2012 09:06

We didn't get back to sleep. I'm bloomin knackered! Fortunately I had an energy burst yesterday afternoon so the house is immaculate for my friend coming!

funchum8am · 30/10/2012 09:22

I caved and got DH to move to the sofa at half two thus morning so u could have babyfunch in bed with me. Spent the rest of the night feeding her on my side and dozing in between. Yet she is still demanding food constantly! I am starting to wonder whether her feeding and latch are as efficient as they could be.

Also tried her on the avent bottle with ebm this morning; she didn't hate it but didn't work out how to actually take the milk either, just sucked half-heartedly at the teat. We will keep trying!

Enjoy all the Halloween parties, we haven't got party plans but will be up north with family which I can't wait for.

MrsNPattz · 30/10/2012 12:48

Just back from the drs, she thinks he has a viral infection because his throat was red poor little thing. Just got to keep an eye on him and give him a nasal spray. At least its nothing major - i didn't know that my childhood vaccinations cover him until he gets his! Lots of cuddles for him this afternoon. It's miserable out anyway!

Smallgreenone · 30/10/2012 16:51

Ah mrsn hope your little man gets better soon. Baby small has had a cold and has been miserable for a few days.
How was your day at work susie?
mummyvicky I think those mums are lying!! I went to a group where some mums said their babies slept through and turns out they were adding cereal to their bottles!!! I don't agree with this as its indigestible for babies under 6 months and will make them obese and could lead to diabetes. Also I asked the health visitor and she says mums are very competitive about sleep and will often lie- I guess we're just too honest!
Baby small is currently snoozing on me and has slept a lot today so am wondering what effect this will have on tonight. I think he was overtired yesterday so lets see how he does when he's well rested.

MummyVicky18 · 30/10/2012 19:12

Thanks for the reassurance guys. I'm just at my wits end with it all & my support system has fallen to pieces and even though I have supportive people around I feel very alone.
So sorry if I moan a lot but this is the only place I have to vent. I hope you all don't mind x

MrsNPattz · 30/10/2012 19:53

Thanks small

Aw vicky of course we don't mind, that's what we are here for and what's so lovely about this thread [hsmile] sorry you are having a hard - it would never cross my mind to lie about how he sleeps - seems silly to me! Hope things pick up for you soon.

Little fella hasn't been taking much at feeds today so not sure what that means for tonight! We shall see [hconfused]

MrsNPattz · 30/10/2012 19:53

That should be 'hard time' vicky lol

MummyVicky18 · 30/10/2012 20:09

Lol Grin I do feel very at home on this thread Smile its a nice place to come chat/ vent & wonderful company in the wee hours of the morning Smile

Right baby J is asleep so I'm finally going to eat my tea. Speak to you all later x

Susieloo · 30/10/2012 21:13

Evening allSmile

Babyloo went to sleep at 6.45 this evening which is very early but he had a very busy day so was exhausted, not sure what this means for me tonight though!!!

mummyv come and vent to us its why we are here, everyone here is sleep deprived to varying degrees and knows how hard and totally exhausting and frustrating it can be and we are all massively sympathetic.

Kit day went okay thank you, felt very odd to slip so easily back into how things were before I had a baby!! Mum and dad had babyloo and were also worried about his crying and pulling on his ear and thought it might be an ear infection so when they picked me up at twelve I rang the drs and got an appt at 1pm, amazing!!! The dr was fantastic and gave him a complete once over and said that he thinks he has some eczema on his head (I thought it was just a bit dry) so gave me some cream, think babyloo has been trying to scratch his head rather than pull his ear. Whilst I was getting him undressed I mentioned his mark on his shoulder and how it was as yet unidentified by loads of paediatricians and dermatologists and has been photographed by the hospital for their interesting patient panel and he wanted to have a look for himself in case they name the mark after babyloo!

Think he will be awake in the next hour or two so going to try for a snooze before then.

American soda order being delivered tomorrow!!
