Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

All sounds Luke teething to me SusieLoo
try Nelaons teething powders or just cool camomile tea - the same thing really.
Worked a treat on baby b!

Hopefully on last feed now until tomorrow, but who knows, he changes his routine faster than I can change his bum at the minute HmmConfusedGrin

BabylonPI · 29/10/2012 22:33

Who is Luke? ConfusedHmm

Sounds like teething!Blush

funchum8am · 29/10/2012 22:53

Yay mrsn for smiles - I cannot wait to get some here!

Also waving to the Yorkshire folk, I am from Bradford but now live in outer London :(

First feed here, we tried a bottle of bm earlier but no luck. I think the bottle I used is for an older baby as the test was quite firm so trying a Philips avent newborn bottle tomorrow.

Babyfunch and I had a great day out and about but she slept most of the afternoon and evening so is clearly not going to sleep much tonight. I need to keep her up longer like you are doing evil. I did wake her for a bath and a feed at 9 but too little too late!

missingmymarbles · 29/10/2012 23:13

I'm from the north east so far too far south!

Missmarbles is down; I hope I didn't disturb her checking her and putting her blanket on. Seems to have gone quiet again. Hoping for another couple of hours now, as has been down since 7.30.

Will see you all at some point in the wee small hours

Susieloo · 29/10/2012 23:37

1st feed of the night and so far seems not to have woken up too much, thank you for all the teething advice and also to keep my eyes open for an ear infection, funnily enough my mum said that when my brother started teething he would always get an ear infection.

Hope you are all getting some lovely zzzzzz

evil my DH is not coping with disturbed sleep. Perhaps if he helped me a bit... Little prince has been feeding since 7pm. Stops feeding. Burps or poos. Hungry again. I am shattered. This is night 5 so I guess he can be forgiven. DH however, should be punished. Severely.

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 30/10/2012 00:31

Woohoo for first smiles mrsn ! [hgrin]

Also yes I'm so scared with all this whooping cough in the news at the moment. I don't know much about it but I don't know if I should google it for some more info or if I'll just terrify myself further. Anyone better clued up with anything helpful to add?!

We've had such a busy day today, left home at 9.45 and got back at 17.30. Managed to squeeze in play group, pub lunch, birth registration appt, meeting my DSis for coffee and a trip into town. It's been a lovely day and both DDs were so well behaved (excepting a few toddler style tantrums over important things such as whether Teddy should or shouldn't be strapped into the buggy, or the age old dilemma of underwear as outerwear [hhmm] ) but it's knackered me out a bit so hoping for a good night tonight.

Lovely DSis has stayed up to keep me company for a bit, we're watching a truly terrible film called Arachnoquake...so bad it's quite funny and it beats sitting up on my own [hgrin]

Hope there are some sleepy babies tonight.

funchum8am · 30/10/2012 01:05

Right feed no. 2 here. I have found it far harder than usual to summon the energy to get on with it for this one so hopefully she'll sleep for a good while now. Though usually 1-7am is prime 'wake up every hour' time with this one :(

My DH is generally really helpful but seems truly unable to stay awake and function properly in the evenings - falls asleep on the sofa (sometimes with baby on him - partial subject of our disagreement the other evening) and is useless if left to do anything after about 8pm. It is very frustrating. He used to be an early riser so the plan was he'd do the early morning shift but he is now sleeping later due to being woken in the night so not always helpful either end of the night, grrr. Much sympathy to others finding the same with their OHs.

God I am tired.....here's hoping we all have good sleeps from here on in.

ValiumQueen · 30/10/2012 01:12

Still going. Had to wake DH as his snoring was like a pneumatic drill. He looked really put out.

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 30/10/2012 01:19

Lol @ "put out" valium. My DH is quite good at that look too, as in "put out" that he got woken once or twice in the night before being able to roll back over and return to sleep while I sit up feeding the baby for the hundredth time that night...

In fairness to DH he has been fab, he's just a bit rubbish with tiny babies. I forgive him because I see how fantastic he is with DD1 now she's older and I know its just because he finds it hard when babylump is crying and he feels helpless. won't stop me having a bit of a whinge every now and then though

Babylump has been asleep about half an hour now, going to risk going to bed. Night all, hopefully see you much later :)

MummyVicky18 · 30/10/2012 01:26

Hi all

Well did a dream feed just before bed and it hasn't got me any further were still waking 2.5hrs later.
Really tired tonight Sad had a bit of an emotional evening which has drained me too

funchum8am · 30/10/2012 01:29

Sorry to hear it's been a rough evening vicky. Hope you feel better soon. I think I am about to get emotional - babyfunch lasted all of ten mins before waking loudly again. I cannot wait until.DH can give her the odd bottle!

Smallgreenone · 30/10/2012 02:39

My DH is a superstar although has made the odd upsetting comment and does tend to have an extraordinary ability to sleep through nighttime wakings. He also com

Smallgreenone · 30/10/2012 02:42

Stupid phone!
Complained of being tired the other day as he'd been playing golf [hconfused].
Baby small went to sleep in the end and seems to be on a 3 hourly schedule tonight. He's 9 weeks, when will he go longer?
Scattering sleepy dust to all.

NervousAt20 · 30/10/2012 02:43

Sorry to hear your having a bad night vicky hopefully your LO let's you get some sleep after this feed

We're on second feed of the night here and I have everything crossed hoping that babyN goes for 3 hours between feeds again but I know she won't. We had alot of visitors today and I feel so bad when I make them put her back in her Moses basket, otherwise she would be constantly held by different people for 4/5 hours

I have a HV coming out tomorrow so in glad to get baby weighed and I have about 50Q to ask the poor women so she might not be in any rush to come back [hgrin] it actually shocks me how we've been given so little information about what to do and care for a newborn, we had s few problems with BF and I found the number of a support group that you could phone for help and advice in my hospital notes not that they told me it was even there and a really lovely women come out to our house to show me different ways of holding LO and talked through so much with us, we were very lucky to have her helo

MrsNPattz · 30/10/2012 02:45

First feed here, had about 3 hours - could be better/worse.

heff I cautiously googled it so I was aware of the symptoms but didn't read any further as like you I would terrify myself further. Will let you know what dr says.

Thank god it's pay day tomorrow - I'm needing more American Soda!!

Susieloo · 30/10/2012 02:55

2nd feed of the night and I'm starvingGrin dp bought me loads of chocolate and has confessed this evening that he has eaten it all!! For the first time I'm a bit gutted not to be up all night, I find extreme weather scary and fascinating so if I didn't have work tomorrow I would have stayed up to watch the American news channels, I'm following the storm on twitter and some of the pictures coming in are terrifying. Must be such a frightening experience to be there or have family over there.,

Babyloo having a good feed so hopefully operation cot transfer will go smoothly.

missingmymarbles · 30/10/2012 02:56

Well after I posted last time, Missmarbles woke up less than 5 mind later. Annoying, because it was because I disturbed her on my way to bed. Anyway it's resulted in feeding now for the second time. Hopefully well make it to morning, but I've found that if first feed is before midnight we don't have such a good night.

NervousAt20 · 30/10/2012 03:04

Hope everything goes okay for you and LO at your GPnappintment tomorrow mrsn

BabyN not feed great so not hopin for a 2 hour sleep

Ameybee · 30/10/2012 03:35

On second feed here! He did a 4 hour stretch from 930-130 - hooray! Nervous at 20 - don't worry about asking visitors to put lo in Moses basket - I always say to them 'it's lovely to cuddle but unfortunately you won't be around to do it at 4am will you?!' Usually helps!
My DH also not always most helpful, he gets up with 3 year old during night - she's been poorly so waking more than usual, she's also been really difficult last few days. I had good old cry this morning as I was knackered n they were both wailing n DH's suggestion was - lets just give him formula!!!!! Err that's not the problem! All I actually needed was a cuddle & some recognition that its hard work (he's been away at weekend for muse concert!!!) and him to say I'm doing well! Groan! Explaining this to him tends to result in sulking, which I can't be arsed with'
Good luck tonight everyone! X

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 30/10/2012 03:36

Forgot to say yay for smiles mrsn [hblush]. Smiles are great, there a real reminder that soon they'll be little people and not just milky poop bags, as adorable as they are

Well, BabyCat only had a 5 minute feed at 10pm, so she must have been knackered to sleep for 5 HOURS!!! So not complaining!

Good luck with your HV appointment nervous, hope you get a lovely one and god luck to Valium as well (sounds as if you might need it [hgrin]). I'll try to send everyone some of BabyCat's sleepy dust...

Evilwater · 30/10/2012 03:55

It turns out last night was a fluk, I sleep through DS squels for food. I'm tired three feed of the night.
Evil

MummyVicky18 · 30/10/2012 04:10

Sorry all I'm so tired I don't know who has said what but congrats on the smiles they are the best aren't they. It does make me feel 10x better when baby J is happy, smiley, giggling. He has the cutest smile and laugh ( although I am biased Grin)

DH works full time & is studying so finds it difficult to help out. He as some quality time with baby J in the evening before he studies but if he tries to help out at night it's a nightmare. Baby J will just not settle with DH so I'm left to settle him & do all the night feeds.

I'd like to say it all gets better with sleep (I'm praying it does) but at nearly 5 months old its not getting any better Sad still only going 2/2.5 hours between feeds and its wearing me down.

MummyVicky18 · 30/10/2012 04:16

Having said that about sleep the new mums I've met with same age babies seem to be sleeping better. Which makes me think wtf am I doing wrong?

MummyVicky18 · 30/10/2012 04:25

Anyway (forces grin Grin)

Is anyone dressing there LO up for Halloween? I've bought baby J a skeleton babygrow Smile I'm putting him in it tomorrow too coz it seems a shame to only wear it once.

Do you have any Halloween plans too? Me & DH have carved pumpkins and might be going to a party (not sure yet) but if we don't go to party then we'll try to watch a film I think Smile
