Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

Glad I went back to bed!!!
On first feed, which is great coz that is nearly 6 hours, but it's 6 1/2 hours til morning. Hopefully only one more feed with easy settling xmwahx

MummyVicky18 · 29/10/2012 01:49

Hiya girls, well I'm completely lost on this thread tonight my brain is too tired to keep up lol so I hope you are all doing well

I have a poo question for you all .... We now put baby J in a sleeping bag have done for a few weeks now. Now baby J has really smelly farts so sometimes I don't know if its just gas or poo. I sort it out/check no worries during the day but at night when he is in a bag I don't check/ change as we have found usually (during the day) it's gas more often than not.

If I was to check every time it would constantly wake him. Should I check him or leave him til morning? (Other than risking a poonami disaster)

MummyVicky18 · 29/10/2012 01:56

Also I'm that tired I've reverted back to old habits lol

When baby J was 1st born I used to panic he was in bed with me and even look in the covers for him even though we don't co-sleep during the night.

I did it again tonight lolGrin I even pat at DH lolGrin oh well

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 29/10/2012 02:07

Welcome valium and congrats on the new arrival. [hsmile]

That's a difficult one mummy - does he get grumpy if he needs his nappy changing or does he not mind? If he doesn't mind, I'd probably leave it to next feed but then I am a slattern

BabyCat is now noticeably going bald and very quickly [hsad]. I don't want a bald baby, she looks like late 80's Phil Collins and it was a bit weird to think that that's a pop culture reference that BabyCat might never understand

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 29/10/2012 02:10

We're up for feed #1, a massive improvement on most nights so far where we've only been coming up to bed at 2am babylump has been asleep since 11. Just hope she will feed and sleep and not decide its playtime.

Hi sarita what a lovely post, so glad you and your LO are doing well.

Thanks goat think I'll have to go explore again then :)

Just been puked on...lovely [hconfused]

Ameybee · 29/10/2012 02:39

Mummyvicky I do exactly same thing! Think I'm holding baby in bed all the time! We have an under mattress breathing monitor so whenever I think he's in bed I just look over to Moses basket & see green flashing light n go back to sleep! Had if for my 1st & couldn't live without it! I'm on 4th feed of night since 8 :( knackered. Have a horrid feeling the 6 week growth spurt is occurring - just when we were getting some 4 hour stints - groan! X zzzz

funchum8am · 29/10/2012 02:47

Huge sympathy ameybee that is a lot of feeding! And to everyone else who is up and down like a yo-yo. Babyfunch managed 2 hours if you count from the start of her last feed - sadly I let her sleep on me for ages after the last feed so have only had 1 hour's sleep since then myself!

She is still suffering with snot at night but it isn't a problem in the daytime now so hoping her cold is nearly gone. I need her to start sleeping for longer after midnight!

Re nighttime nappies I wouldn't worry unless baby is distressed (mw also said this). It is one downside of grobags which are generally fab. We are going to use them once she has definitely reached 8lb.

MrsNPattz · 29/10/2012 02:50

Thanks guys, the chocolate took the edge off [hgrin]

First feed here. I have the gro egg too - and I bought a Mikey the Monkey shell for it (most pointless buy ever but it's really cute [hsmile])

I'm really fancying a hot chocolate - I can't remember whose fault that is hehe I wish I liked coffee as I would love to try a pumpkin latte!

Ameybee · 29/10/2012 04:01

Urck I'm up again :( in that 40 min sleep I also dreamt I was having an affair with James Arthur from X factor! It was awful & when I ended it he made all these threats to tell my husband & ruin my life! Maybe I'm quite glad ds woke up although hourly feeding will kill me. Please let him have a long stint now?? Xx

MummyVicky18 · 29/10/2012 04:02

Thanks Smile he doesn't seem uncomfortable ever just didn't want to be a bad mummy.

turqoise lol to the pop culture ref. Me & DH were talking about similar stuff tonight & how baby J will only live in a world where you can fast forward tv and will never know what a VHS is etc
Think with all that's around these babies if ours will be techno babies. Baby J already wants to play with my phone & remote

Ameybee · 29/10/2012 04:09

They will never understand anything that's not touchscreen! Our toddler practically taught her grandma b grandad to use their iPad! Weird isn't it! I remember having an Amstrad and waiting 30 mins for games to load... But then I'm old! X

rowingdowntheriver · 29/10/2012 04:17

Morning! Second feed of the night for me. Well I suppose that depends on when you start counting night feeds? I fed him almost constantly until I went to bed at 10pm then DH gave him some ebm at 11.30' I fed him at 12 and now he's awake again. Technically that probably counts as the 100th feed of the night but I don't care as I just got 4 hours straight of sleep!

Am finished now and debating whether to change him as am pretty sure he's done a poo. Having read the last few posts I think I'll leave it til he next wakes up (feel naughty though).

rowingdowntheriver · 29/10/2012 04:19

Me too amy! We had an Amsterdam cpc464 and I remember putting a cassette on to load before dinner then having to turn the tape over between main and pudding so that it was ready to play after dinner!

rowingdowntheriver · 29/10/2012 04:20

(I mean amey)

NervousAt20 · 29/10/2012 04:24

BabyN has gone 3 hours without a feed!!! After last night I'm shocked and the sleep was heaven. Is 3 hours to long for a 10 day old baby to go??

I'm like a zombie so haven't caught up in the thread properly yet [hsad]

NervousAt20 · 29/10/2012 04:29

I have a bad feeling that I'm going to pay for them 3 hours with hourly feeds for the rest of the night now

rowingdowntheriver · 29/10/2012 04:34

My midwives have all said to me that it is ok for baby to go a bit longer (up to about 4 hours) at night so long as they are feeding well during the day / gaining weight etc.

funchum8am · 29/10/2012 04:36

Babyfunch went similar times from birth nervous and is fine, just enjoy the sleep and as you say, expect it to be a one off!

She is sleeping on me again having fed at 3.45 and 4.15....sob....going for transfer in a moment. Scratch that, she has woken for a bit more of a feed!! Snack time for me soon...

Goatbongosanonymous · 29/10/2012 04:48

Kid has been asleep since 5 pm except for feeds. Should I be worried or just enjoying the quiet?!

Trouble is he is now asleep on me in a position that means I can't sleep. Or more importantly, I can't retrieve new stocks of snackage from kitchen. And I am starving!!

missingmymarbles · 29/10/2012 05:13

On second feed, but had unsuccessful transfer so feeding again. Probably good since could only get her to take one side and boon was bursting. That said, she's fallen asleep after 2 sucks Hmm Ewan on, so hopefully working his magic now and second attempt at transfer will be more successful.

Not sure what "xmwahx" at end if last post was all about Blush I was texting too, so either I was so tired I got muddled what I was doing (I did have one eye shut - that tired) or I accidentally pasted or iPhone autocorrect changed it from another word -LOLGrin

Susieloo · 29/10/2012 05:17

3rd feed over here, wish he would drop the 11am or 2am one, think we will only get another hour at most now then it's morning.

missingmymarbles · 29/10/2012 05:20

Transfer failure again. What is it about the feed at this time?

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 29/10/2012 05:40

Up again. Was an unsuccessful transfer at the last feed, so DH had to take over settling duties (think BabyCat could smell the stink of milk on me and wouldn't let it go [hwink]). Really really hoping she'll go back sleep after this feed.

Not looking forward to tomorrow. Have told DH I will give him a lift to the train station, so after this feed tomorrow I will actually have to get up [hshock].

Speaking of games consoles, my dad was really tight an economical Yorkshireman, so by 1990 my older brother still only had a 5th hand spectrum zx. My job? To sit and wait for the tape to load for robocop (about 1/2 hour) and then to find my brother so he could play it. And I willingly did this [hconfused].

MummyVicky18 · 29/10/2012 05:53

Ergh Sad 5th feed of the night

I don't think he really needed this feed but didn't know how to get him back to sleep

I did change him this feed as he was quite awake and relatively calm and there was no poo. Glad I didn't do it before now
