MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

First feed. 8.30 til 12.30 - improvement on what's been happening lately and much more like normal. Hopefully that'll continue to lengthen back to normal and beyond, and she'll have another long stretch now.

How are you tonight Star?

Hope everyone else well. And sleeping Wink

Susieloo · 19/09/2012 01:37

Hello everyoneSmile

1st feed of the night so babyloo did 5 hours which I was expecting after a really grizzly evening with lots of cluster feeding and no real nap in the day, I was so knackered I went to bed at half eight too, really hope he has an easy settle and will go through until at least four.

Hope everyone having lots of sleep and hope you are feeling better star

BabylonPI · 19/09/2012 02:21

Gah!!! Feed no2 since 10pmSad Hmm

missingmymarbles · 19/09/2012 02:31

Fed again at 2 (a whole hour and a half since last time Hmm).
She's trying to get her thumb in to settle; it's just not big enough to stay there. She'll be so much better once she gets it, bless her. I've now picked her up, and she's gone back over. do you think we can get to 6Confused??

MiniPopsMum2012 · 19/09/2012 03:42

Oooh sending babies babylon and marbles lots of sleep dust. :)

star how are you doing?

frilly any feeds your end, or is baby frilly a bit more settled?

Minipop has just gone 4 hours, it's just a shame I wasn't asleep for all of that Grin

10 minute left of our 30 minute post - feed upright session then I can get back to my lovely warm bed, it's cold out here.

Susieloo · 19/09/2012 04:09

Yay - we got to fourSmile

Hope you are both asleep babylon and marbles-I know what you mean about the thumb!!

Hope you and minipop went back to sleep okay.

Babyloo has just had a very small feed so will be awake again at half five if he settles at all!!

frillylemons · 19/09/2012 04:21

Baby frilly was awake from 8.30 - 12.30 and is just stirring...

frillylemons · 19/09/2012 04:31

Ok, so she slept from 12.30 - 4.30 and is now feeding. I know that's good, but she was literally awake all day so I am just exhausted Sad Hey ho, no one said it would be easy!

missingmymarbles · 19/09/2012 05:45

Well we got to 5. That's ok. Improving again, slowly. I do think she'll be so much happier once she can get her thumb to stay in place!!

Am annoyed with DH as he could rock her when she is trying find thumb and doesn't need boob, and/or he could get up to DD1 when she has a bad dream, because now u feel like I have been up ALL night, yet boobs were only required at half past midnight, 2am and 5am Confused

Lush17 · 19/09/2012 06:12

Hope you are feeling better soon Star
Missingmymarbles I wish I could get baby lush to have some sort of comfort so she may settle in the day time better.
Well baby lush has been sleeping through the night from about 9 until 5.30 she then takes about 15 mins feed and has about an hour sleep, this then gives me time to sort the dog out and yesterday I got the washer on and sorted tea in the slow cooker!! Now its just the rest of the day we have to get into a bit of a routine and be able to get out more, we have rhyme time this morning, she slept through it last week but at least we was out Smile

Hope you all have a good day x

BabylonPI · 19/09/2012 11:59

Baby Babylon has had his first taste of baby rice this morning - he's waking again at night starving hungry, which to me indicates he's not getting enough and needs something else!
He did very well with it Smile

Susieloo · 19/09/2012 17:04

Yay baby Babylon!! I can't wait to start weaning.

My most exciting news today is that I got my hair cut and coloured - after three months so it was a bit desperate, babyloo went to dp's mums up the road for three hours and he was fine, had a bottle of expressed milk and was fast asleep in his pram when he came home. Our bedroom is finally cool enough for him to sleep in his grobag so it will be his first night tonightGrin

stargirl1701 · 19/09/2012 23:28

Hello folks. Thank you for your messages. It's been an eventful few days! It turned out I had infection in my bladder, blood and breast. I've been having four different IV antibiotics although I did have an allergic reaction to one of the four that were used. More drama! Baby star had lost too much weight and her bloods were a concern so we had to go to 3 hour feeds. I am still managing to feed her from the uninfected breast but the expressed milk from the infected breast has to be thrown away as it contains, tmi, green lumps. Bladder, uterus and breast all scanned. There was talk of surgery but that now seems unlikely. Hopefully out of hospital by the weekend.

Wishing you all well as you bf tonight.

MummysHappyPills · 19/09/2012 23:30

Don't stay awake! Some of the only sleep I got in DD's early days was with her across my chest. Not that I intended to cosleep!

frillylemons · 20/09/2012 01:23

Oh gosh, Star, I'm so sorry you are having to go through all that. How awful for you all. Hopefully the antibiotics will work wonders and you'll feel back to normal soon. Well done for still being able to feed babystar. Thinking of you x

MiniPopsMum2012 · 20/09/2012 04:10

Hope you're on the mend soon star and you're being looked after.

Yamyoid · 20/09/2012 04:19

Hello! I've finally admitted defeat. My once good sleeper dd has become A Bad Sleeper. Confused
I have seen this thread often while feeding at 4am but thought, oh no, I don't need help staying awake, cos I've had 6 hours sleep and feel ok. Not any more. Seems sleep regression has totally kicked in. I need some matchsticks.

Susieloo · 20/09/2012 06:24

Get well soon star and hello yam

We have been up three times since first feed at half one-why why why!!! Knackered and need a coffee.

missingmymarbles · 20/09/2012 06:31

I thought we were getting back on track: 8-1 tonight, getting better each night. Then, she woke me at 3, not because she needed feeding, bless her, she's full of cold Sad What a sniffly row. I have had her sleeping upright on my chest pretty much since. She's managed a couple of little feeds but it's hard work for her. And, bless her, she's not really complaining; still quite bright when she's awake, just really snotty up her little noseSad

Hope everyone else ok tonight. Hope you are continuing to improve Star].

Hello Yam.

missingmymarbles · 20/09/2012 06:31

Morning Susie

Susieloo · 20/09/2012 20:01

Hope baby marbles has got over the snuffles and hope your okay star and hello to everyone elseSmile

Babyloo on his last feed before bed and I'm really hoping for a good night, he seems to have abandoned decent naps in the day and just cat naps which means my luxurious days of napping when he napped are over. Twice I put him in his cot today thinking he had had such a disturbed night last night he would be ready for a really good sleep and I climbed into bed only to nod off twenty minutes later when he started to wake up!! He's struggling to stay awake now so I'm hoping he will go through until one at the earliest although I'm getting used to the unpredictability of it allGrin

I'm definitely getting into bed when he does tonight.

Have a good night everyoneSmile

MiniPopsMum2012 · 20/09/2012 20:31

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing ok? Haven't been on here much as have just been so tired during night feeds, have just been trying to get MiniPop to take his bottle and settle him back to sleep Grin

He got weighed yesterday and is up to 12.7lbs, which means I don't need to wake him to feed anymore as his weight is nearly back on track for his corrected age.

We had a 6 hour break between feeds this morning, it's just a shame he wasn't asleep for all that time. (I still feel 6 hours seems such a long time :)).

Cot arrived and was built by Daddy yesterday, so today is night 2 in his cot. He looks so small in it, bless him. He keeps kicking his covers off (invested in a sleeping bag thingy) and when he woke for the 4am feed he was wriggling about in his cot giggling his head off watching the star show projected by the baby monitor - very, very cute! :)

WIshing you all a good evening...

missingmymarbles · 20/09/2012 20:33

I too am hoping for an 8.30-3; perhaps that's pushing it: let's say 1.30 at the earliest as well Grin She seems to be over the snuffles; seems quick for cold, but saying that, that's what I was like - really stuffed up for 24 hours then merely a runny nose for a bit.

Hope everyone ok and gets a good sleep tonight. I will likely be checking in in the middle of the night. It is a great thread for staying awake Grin

missingmymarbles · 20/09/2012 21:18

8.30-3? HA! 9! To be fair, she didn't need feeding, just resettling. See hoe we go from .......NOW!

TeaandHobnobs · 20/09/2012 21:47

Glad the snuffles seem to have eased marbles, and I hope that resettling sees a good stretch of sleep from now!

Hope star is feeling a little better today. to lush, frillylemons, babylon and sarita (sorry if I've missed someone!) and welcome to yam

That's great news about MiniPop's weight! Gosh he must be pretty much the same weight as DS now, even though he is younger in both respects! Clever sausage Wink I've been thinking the last week or so that I hoped you'd be able to let him sleep soon without needing to wake him to feed! Looking forward to seeing his cute little face soon Grin

DS has generally been sleeping a bit better now, sort of 4 - 6 hours when we go to bed - although we've had the odd not so good night. It's a bit annoying when his late evening "nap" (or you might just call it him going to bed in the lounge with us!) doesn't actually end, and I have to carry him up in his Moses basket when I go to bed - this results in about an hour of sleep for me until he wakes, and a nappy change (which I would otherwise do just before bed). Also last night we got back late from MIL's birthday dinner so that sort of threw everything out of whack. Fingers crossed tonight is a good night Grin

His teething is really starting to bother him - not at night thankfully, but he can get quite grizzly in the day, and descend into full blown wailing/rage if I don't do something about it quickly enough. I've got better at spotting the signs so if I dentinox him early enough, he settles pretty quickly.
