MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

Well we ended up at the hospital tonight. I have a bladder infection. Sad

Baby seemed quite settled at hosp but distressed now.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 17/09/2012 04:15

Oh star....! I washing you better very soon.

frilly sounds quite normal. Will she settle

MiniPopsMum2012 · 17/09/2012 04:17

(stupid phone!) will she settle on you?

Could be trapped wind, or reflux? A week already? It goes so quickly. How are you feeling now? Xx

frillylemons · 17/09/2012 05:34

I think it may be to do with wind poppy. My milk letdown seems really fast and she often gulps. Having a hard time stopping the gulping and keep forgetting to use Infacol Blush I am doing ok though thanks Smile although I think my stitches may be infected Sad

star Yoy poor thing Sad

Thinking of you Star. I hope you get better really soon x

stargirl1701 · 17/09/2012 08:26

Thank you lush and lemons. Not feeling physically better yet but feeling safe. Glad we came in. We were about to give up bf and buy formula when I decided to phone and get some help. Right thing to do.

frillylemons · 17/09/2012 09:46

I'm sure you'll feel better before you know it, Star. How old is your LO?

stargirl1701 · 17/09/2012 12:38

She is 10 days old today :) and gorgeous!

Susieloo · 17/09/2012 20:21

Get well soon star what an ordeal for you.

Hello to everyoneGrin

We had a really weird night last night, babyloo went to sleep at nine and had a good stretch until half one and then was awake again at three and really didn't settle both times, he was then up at five ish and then slept until half eight. No idea what I'm in for tonight but I'm going to bed when he does-knackered!!

Have a good night everyone Smile

stargirl1701 · 17/09/2012 21:18

Update.

I got steadily worse over the day and had to be transferred by ambulance to the regional teaching hospital. The doc thinks I have multiple infections - womb, bladder and breast. They are also taking blood cultures as the infection may be present in my blood. Prescribed IV antibiotics. I'm expressing for baby star but milk supply is not good so we're having to top up with formula Sad. Expressed volumes have been reducing all day even with IV fluids.

BabylonPI · 17/09/2012 21:22

Oh star SadSad

How awful for you Sad

Have you been able to bring baby star with you??

I really hope you get a quick diagnosis and are soon on the mend.
Thinking if you sweetie, and very big fat unmumsnetty hugs ((((HUG))))

Susieloo · 17/09/2012 21:33

Oh star you poor thing, will be thinking of you during the night and hoping you are okay and babystar is ok. Loads of love and really hope you start to feel better soon.

frillylemons · 17/09/2012 22:12

Sad Star Sad I'm so sorry to hear that you're still in hospital. I hope you recover really quickly. Sending love and prayers x

I have a question. DD (1 week old) has literally been feeding all day. She has been sick a bit but not huge amounts. She would feed, settle on me, I'd put her in her moses basket and 5 mins later she'd wake up and grizzle. DH has just managed to get her to drift off in her basket with a soother and I'm waiting before going to bed in case she wakes.

What would you suggest IYHO? Do you think she is just comfort sucking?

missingmymarbles · 17/09/2012 23:27

Thinking of you Star, prayers for speedy recovery, and for Littlestar too.

Frilly all this sounds very normal. She may be comfort sucking but she is building up your supply and having a little growth spurt around about now too. If you can stand it, keep latching her on and take every opportunity to rest, even if that means lounging in/on bed for a day or so. Make the most of that while she's tiny and your DH is about.

The last two nights Missmarbles hasn't settled til 11! Everything seems to have changed pattern-wise in the last two nights, and I don't know whether we're coming or going. She had a really late sleep this due to having to do lots of running about in the car today, so I'm hoping she sleeps well as last night her longest stint was 11-2 Sad

TeaandHobnobs · 17/09/2012 23:40

Star you poor poor thing! Really hope you are on the mend soon.

Try not to fret too much about the formula top ups - establishing a supply is tough enough as it is, never mind when you are dehydrated and hooked up to an IV! Keep expressing as much as you are able (as in, without negatively impacting on your own health) and I'm sure you'll be able to get things going again once you are better.

My friend was readmitted 3 weeks after birth (c-section) with a burst appendix, and couldn't be with her DS for about a week I think - she carried on expressing in hospital when she could, and her DS had to have formula for a while, but once she was home and recovering they got bf re-established and he was EBF for 7 months Smile

Thinking of you tonight Thanks

Saritabean · 18/09/2012 01:29

Hi all!

You poor thing star, I hope you feel better soon...

Have just been catching up on all the news...! Hello T&H, minipopsmum and babylonPI and welcome to all the new mums on the thread! :o!

Periwinkle is still feeding 2-4 hourly at night, but usually quite quick/ sleepy/ efficient feeds, so just have time to read, then flop back to bed! :)

Now weighs 8lb 11oz... Still tiny for her 28 weeks/6.5month age (17.5wk/4 months corrected!) but doing well otherwise. Still not taking a bottle well- 30-60 mls twice a day with BF top ups :( but we're persevering!! Also started a tiny bit of purée/ baby rice in last week or so... She's not really that fussed, but it's a start!

Right, that's me off to sleep again... Hope it's a 4hr gap instead of 2....!!!

Susieloo · 18/09/2012 01:39

1st feed of the night over here so a four hour stretch.

marbles our babies are mirroring each other for sure, babyloo has been really unpredictable and patterns seem to be changing again, really hope he goes through until four now. Oh and what meat did you cook in the slow cookerSmile

All sounds like your lo is building your supply frilly it is hard when they use you as a dummy.

Hello tea and hope your getting some rest star

missingmymarbles · 18/09/2012 02:56

Well, 40 mins longer than last night I suppose. Feel like it'd totally gone backwards. We were up to 6 hours; now we're managing just over three. Once, as I'm pretty sure I'll be up again in less than that.

Twas beef Susieloo.

Hope everyone else is getting plenty sleep.

frillylemons · 18/09/2012 03:19

Thanks everyone Smile I shall persevere! She went down at 12 and didn't wake until 3 which was rather splendid! Hopefully she'll go back down now...

Hi Saritabean, nice to meet you Smile Your LO must've been very premature? Smile

BabylonPI · 18/09/2012 04:34

Hey Sarita nice to see you!! Periwinkle now weighs the same as baby Babylon was born Grin

Sounds like all our DCs are doing fantastic, which is great news!

I've just finished a feed, and as ever I'm wide awake and can't sleep Confused

star how're you feeling honey? Hope you're being well looked after xx

MiniPopsMum2012 · 18/09/2012 05:05

star that's awful, but glad you got checked out and are in the right place.

sarita bless periwinkle! Minipop was 3.2lbs when he was born, but was over 11lbs at last weigh in back in August. We have our first weigh in with new HV (as we moved) tomorrow. I am thinking he's put on some weight as he is now wearing 0-3 size clothes.! :)

frilly hang on in there xx

frillylemons · 18/09/2012 19:33

Ur. It's been an emotional afternoon. L has only slept for 40 mins and 30 mins! Been down now for about an hour, other than that she's been feeding allllll day. Aaaaand she's waking up again! Well, fingers crossed it means she'll sleep well tonight!
