MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

Good god minipop what an ordeal Sad

We're coping fine with camping - had a great weekend, but right now I am freeeeeezing!!!

Will update tomorrow when fingers are thawed!!!!

Sleep dust to all Grin

MiniPopsMum2012 · 27/08/2012 02:17

(that was meant to say 2.5ml not 25ml btw Blush)

MiniPopsMum2012 · 27/08/2012 02:19

sarita great news re weight gain :) (just catching up on posts up thread)

SilverSky · 27/08/2012 03:33

I so wish the I had some magic that would keep the baby asleep during the transfer back to bed. Each night fees ends up being a two hour trauma. I've been up since 2.15am and he's asleep on me post feed. I almost don't think it's worth moving him but I am shattered and desperately want to go back to sleep.

Ds2 is almost five weeks btw. Grin

Susieloo · 27/08/2012 04:57

What an ordeal for you minipop and what a great idea about giving him a rest from meds, you must have been so worried.

Hope you've warned up babylon!!Grin

There should be some sort of baby hoist system for the transfer back to bed to stop them waking up silver I normally weight for ten minutes and do the dead arm test before attempting it!

Babyloo slept for nearly five hours after out horrible night and has just had a tiny feed which is not like him, we are going straight to boots in the morning to try and sort his nose outSmile

Hope your all sleeping peacefully Grin

MiniPopsMum2012 · 27/08/2012 05:04

Hey silversky I reckon if someone knew the answer to that, they could make themselves very rich Grin

Minipop could be used as a spirit level sometimes!

I sometimes find covering his bsck in a blanket while cuddling on me, and then using thus to swaddle him when I put him in cot, so he's not laying on a cold cot IYSWIM?

I put him in cot really slowly, and don't pull away from him until right at the last minute, last part that touches cot is head, then pull blanket around him (to stop arms jerking and waking him up), then kind of swaddle blanket around him.

It

MiniPopsMum2012 · 27/08/2012 05:05

Opps! Posted too soon,

It works some of the time :)

MiniPopsMum2012 · 27/08/2012 08:31

susieloo what is the dead arm test? Grin :)

Susieloo · 27/08/2012 12:08

I read somewhere that a baby is properly asleep if you can lift their arm up and it is completely limp and floppy and falls straight back down rather than triggering them to cling on, only works sometimes!! I try and do the same as you and hold the baby really tightly until he's in his basket then I've started lightly holding his arms to stop them flailing all over the place, again this sometimes worksGrin

We were up at half four so I decided to get up and do some housework watch Dallas and we were walking into town by eight thirty to go to boots to get some nasal drops to try and sort out the bunged up nose and then saw a big sign for a bank holiday Monday market, it's bank holiday Monday!!!!!! Nothing opens till ten!!! There I was merrily walking along thinking its really quiet today and I'm the donut who didn't realize it was bank holiday!! So we walked home because babyloo was starting to get hungry and then he cried for twenty minutes while I walked/ran home. Anyway got drops from sainsburys and so far they have done nothing!! I'm knackered!!

Saritabean · 28/08/2012 04:24

Aaaarrrgh.....! Periwinkle been feeding every 2-2.5hrs again at night.... :(

So tired! Been on and off for last 2-3 weeks now I think- had been going 4hrly Confused I assume it's her growing rapidly now- nearly up to 8lb!! But I'm shattered and she's still refusing the bottle

Saritabean · 28/08/2012 04:33

Ooops- posted too early!!!! need the angry face for 'still refusing a bottle'!! Angry!!!

She's still feeding 3hrly in the day and also being really grouchy last 10 days too. Is having 9 full, good, double sided feeds each 24hrs...! The part of me that's not shattered and angry is really pleased cos it means she's gaining weight, but I just don't know how long I can continue it for!! Periwinkle is going to be 6 months old on Saturday Shock!

Hope you are all fairing a bit better...! I had thought we were getting somewhere a few weeks ago, she was much more settled etc, but she'd lulled tricked us into a false sense of security and then moved the goal posts!!!

Been too tired to post, but still been following everyone else's news with interest :)

BabylonPI · 28/08/2012 08:09

I've finally thawed out!!!

Had a great weekend, and baby Babylon has been very well behaved indeed Grin

Was so lovely to get back into my own bed last night though Wink

MiniPopsMum2012 · 28/08/2012 18:53

Hey everyone, have been SO tired I haven't been able to post but have been reading - Sarita sorry to hear about he mammoth feeding sessions, but think of the weight gain :o

Glad you've thawed out BabyLon, I'd love to go camping again, maybe when MiniPop is a bit bigger, must be challenging with a baby!!

MiniPop had a fairly good weekend, but he's been quite grouchy again the last couple of days. Last night was a mixed bag - a 5 hour gap between feeding sessions, but then just a 2 hour one next - bah! And was then up for the rest of the night/morning with him, so might have to put him back on the meds to see if they'll help (the right does this time!!).

Minipop had his second set of injections today, so another fun night in store tonight methinks!! Grin

BabylonPI · 29/08/2012 03:14

Wah, what's going on??? Baby Babylon woke up hungry!!

That was a shock to the system! And now he's back in bed and I'm wide awake Hmm

Hope sleepy dust is working for everyone else Grin

Susieloo · 29/08/2012 14:58

Babyloo must be going through a growth spurt because he has been feeding none stop all day and was cluster feeding none stop last night until 11, I'm praying he will have a nap for an hour or so now so I can close my eyes for a bit, really got to try him with a bottle today or tomorrow otherwise I worry it will be too late and hell never take one, someone else being able to do one feed would be amazingGrin

Hope everyone having a good day and the weather not too bad where you are, torrential rain here.

Saritabean · 30/08/2012 03:10

Gah...! Was up at 1.15 am (assumed she was actually hungry as had fed at 10.15) wrote a message, but then turns out she's wasn't actually properly hungry and only had a few minutes before falling asleep Confused!!!

So here we are 2 hrs later, when she started crying I left her a bit as wasn't sure she was really hungry this time... But I think she is!!! Hopefully she'll have a decent-ish feed now, then if she wakes in 2 hrs I can more safely guess she's not hungry...!! This parenting thing is soooo hard!!!! Wink

Hope all the other babies are giving their mummies better nights sleep!

MiniPopsMum2012 · 30/08/2012 03:32

Woooo hoooo I have had some sleep. I went to bed at 10pm & DP did midnight feed for me. I did wake up for it, but went straight back to sleep. Grin

just need a few more nights like this & I might resemble a normal person, instead of a sleep deprived zombie!

Minipop just wolfed down 120mls,and I am now trying to convince him sleep :)

sarita Minipop does that sometimes- wakes up and then goes back to sleep without feeding. Sometimes it's wind, or he's a bit cold. I think he gets colder than a term baby

BabylonPI · 30/08/2012 05:44

Nice to see the sleepy dust is working Grin

I fed at 5am which is fine as last feed was 9.30pm. Baby Babylon is now back fast asleep and here I am wide awake again Hmm

Susieloo · 30/08/2012 21:11

What a couple of days!! Babyloo has been feeding pretty much non stop until he exhausted himself and then slept for four and a half hours and then another three hour stretch.

I've decided to abandon his Moses basket because he is just too big for it (at 7 weeks!!) and seems to hate being in it, he also gets really sweaty if he wakes up and cries for a couple of minutes so he is spending his first night in the swinging crib that I slept in as a baby, with new mattress, so hopefully he will like the room. His cots being delivered tomorrow.

Hope sleepy dust is plentiful tonight for everyoneSmile

BabylonPI · 31/08/2012 00:10

Well I've had a late evening chatting with my best friend, nice to catch up properly!

We've wrapped presents for dd2s 3rd birthday tomorrow and I'm now doing what I hope is the last feed of tonight and I should get a good 6 hour stretch now Grin

I'm also hoping for less vivid dreams tonight! I dreamt last night that some friends of ours were expecting a baby - a little boy - and that he would be due around April 2013.

I'm usually pretty good with these predictions/premonitions but I posted to her FB wall today to tell her and her DH of my dream and sadly I'm wrong Sad

Absolutely gutted as I'm sure they'd love another DC - and my dream was sooooo vivid.

So I'm not going to give up my day job just yet for clairvoyancy Confused

Really gutted though, another dc would be lovely for them Smile

Well, I bid you all goodnight, wishing sleep dust aplenty Grin

Saritabean · 31/08/2012 02:05

Evening/morning all!

Can't work miss periwinkle out! Must be the 4 month sleep regression she's been having, but whatever it is I wish it'd sort itself out and sleep a bit longer at night...Wink

On a positive note though, she's accepted a few bottles over the last few days, and although needing BF top ups, at least it's a start!

Weigh in later this morning again (been 10 days since last), so I hope she's put lots on! :o
Then we're off to bonny Scotland for a family wedding- really looking forward to periwinkle meeting everyone!

I hope babies minipop, Babylon, babyloo, babypig, baby tea, baby jet and babysilver all have good nights and behave well over the weekend for their mummies!

Whoops, just realised I left off periwinkle from that list...!!! I wish her, and me good sleep too!!!

MiniPopsMum2012 · 31/08/2012 05:15

Morning everyone, hope babies are sleeping well? My DP has been doing a few extra feeds for me, so I could get some extra sleep as was starting to feel poorly. It was coming down to eating or sleeping, and sleep was winning....

Anyhoo, we're still on there hourly feeds here, and have started the meds again to see if they help (still not convinced about them though)

Dr apologised for overdosing LO on ranitidine, and asked if I wanted to take it further... Hmmmmm not sure.

babylon happy birthday to dd2 and good luck with cot :) we move on Saturday and we'll be getting Minipop a cot, as he's getting to big for his basinette.

Still trying to decided whether to put him in his own room or not, he is 4 weeks corrected and such a noisy baby. :)

sarita enjoy Scotland, would love to go away. Hopefully we'll be able to visit family soon. How long will it take to get to Scotland for you? I have family in Scotland but it's a long drive from London :D

Will be offline a while until we get Internet in new house, as not sure shout phone signal yet.

Saritabean · 31/08/2012 05:55

Hi minipopsmum, good luck with the move! Hope restarting the medicine works too. With regards to minipop going in own room- periwinkle went into her own room quite early on due to being so noisy and it's worked really well with the monitor. I know it's not recommended but as long as the room temp is ok, I don't see why it's any more risky for cot deaths.

On the dreaded 5/6ish feed where she just wants to fall asleep instead of feed which makes me wonder if she was really hungry in the first place Confused! Little monkey!!!

BabylonPI · 01/09/2012 06:53

Good morning fellow BFers Grin

We've just had an 8.30pm - 6.30am GrinGrin

I think it's something to do with taking him in the bath with me before his last feed - he splashed about so much (i like very deep baths) he was completely shattered when we got out!!

So I did last feed at 8.30 last night, and I woke up before he did at 6.30 with swollen breasticles telling me he MUST be hungry now!!!

I've fed him and he's gone straight back to sleep!!

Result Grin

Have a wonderful day all of you Grin

BabylonPI · 01/09/2012 06:55

Oooh Sarita whereabouts in Scotland?? One of our very favourite places to visit is Scotland - we got married up there too at a beautiful castle on the side of a loch Smile
