MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

Hello everyoneSmile

I'm posting this waiting for babyloo to wake up for a feed because he's been asleep for nearly four hours and I've been asleep for two of those-woop woop!!

He's had a very sleepy day after a bit of a nightmare two days where I decided I wanted to give up breastfeeding because he was feeding non stop and in the day wasn't going for more than forty minutes without a feed. This has thankfully stopped for the time being, hopefully!

His new crib (same one I slept in as a baby) is fantastic for him and I'm so pleased I moved him out of his Moses basket, should have done it weeks ago, I knew he hated it in there, when I first put him in his new bed he smiled and promptly fell asleep with no feeding or rocking or falling asleep on me which was a firstSmile

Lots of stretching and grunting going on but no waking yet so I might try and grab another hour, my exploding boob woke me up!!

Hope everyone having good nightsSmile

TeaandHobnobs · 02/09/2012 07:24

Susieloo I'm so glad you seem to have passed through the growth spurt 'ring of fire'! Well done you for sticking with it, I know how utterly soul destroying it feels. I hope Babyloo settles a bit now. Great news about the crib!

I've not posted for a bit - how are BabyBabylon and Periwinkle? Hope the move goes ok MiniPopsMum and you get Internet soon Grin

BabyTea has been doing better at night - generally bed around 11:30, and feeds at 3 and 6. But I've been struggling to get him to have decent naps in the day. Yesterday was awful - he was getting overtired and dissolving into mega screaming and shrieking. I couldn't take it and burst into tears more than once (note: having your friends with their 8mo stay in the spare room means you get woken up by their baby's crying as well as your own...)

Thankfully DH offered to be "on duty" last and I slept in the spare room, and I got 4.5hrs followed by 4hrs! Amazing! And desperately needed.

Time to change BabyTea's smelly bottom Grin

Susieloo · 03/09/2012 03:40

Eyes won't stay open!!!! 2nd feed of the night!!

TeaandHobnobs · 03/09/2012 05:52

BabyTea just slept for 6 hours!!!!!!! Torch

BabylonPI · 03/09/2012 06:18

Well baby Babylon is now "regularly" going from about 10pm (last feed) through to between 5.30 and 6am Torch

We still have the odd night where he throws me a googly to keep me on my toes!! Grin and inquire glad he does, as I'm missing the tiny newborn stage and getting very broody, but shhhh don't tell mr Babylon Shock Wink

SusieLoo that's great news wrt the crib! Baby B is in a crib too and will go straight from there to his big boy bedroom !!

Hope everyone else is doing well, getting plenty of sleep and rest, I'll keep posting here whilever I'm doing early morning feeds and the odd googly nightfeed!!

Grin
BabylonPI · 03/09/2012 06:19

Tea Grin

Go baby Tea Torch - winner!!! Grin

Susieloo · 04/09/2012 01:57

Go babies tea and babylon!!! You give me hope, 2nd feed of the night here and I think I will be up again at four, eyes really struggling to stay open!!

We have been having a little holiday at my parents house and they are off to Spain tomorrowEnvyso babyloo and I have the place to ourselves which will be lovely, dp has got a really contagious eye infection so we evacuated to the countryside, this has meant more time off work so I'm dreading him going back in tomorrow in case they tell him to bugger off permenantly.

Hope everyone is fast asleep

MiniPopsMum2012 · 04/09/2012 02:37

Hey everyone, move went ok and I have some Internet access on phone if I sit in the right spot,Grin

yay for lobg-sleeping babies, am trying to works out how to get Minipop to sleep longer, still around 3 hours atm (even if we feed him more)

susieloo hope DH doesn't have work trouble :( and you've enjoyed your time in the countryside anyway :)

Chocolate covered pretzels are helping me to keep awake atm.

Just off to bed now, back here about 5 I reckon!

missingmymarbles · 04/09/2012 04:03

Hello everyone Smile
Can I join in? DD2 is 8 weeks on Wednesday and doing 3hourly overnight but her 3.30 feed takes a while to wind and settle; she's exclusively breast fed but is very windy/refluxy/sicky all the same; the HV tells me it should all improve between 8 and 12 weeksConfused hope so.......
Excellent thread for this time of the morningSmile Looking forward to getting to know you, and picking up some tips on staying awake when necessary and getting baby to sleep for longer.

Susieloo · 04/09/2012 04:12

Hello marbles and nice to meet you Smile I'm new to this thread too and have found it so helpful.

Glad the move went okay minipop

I think babyloo will be up for an hour now, he has just done what sounds like a poosplosion while feeding so the big change will make him think it's morning, will have to have a coffee I think and I think there are some apple donuts too so might can already taste it have one of thoseSmile

Need matchsticks to keep eyes open,

Just realised ds is 8 weeks todaySmile

missingmymarbles · 04/09/2012 05:19

Hello SusieSmile
Ok, she settled not too badly buy we're up again; urgh, what's with that?? She's was rooting like mad, has had a tiny top up and gone back over. I have to get up in less than 2 hours to get DD1 ready for school, even if DD2 still sleeping, but I am getting my hair done straight after the school run, so hopefully will look less like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards all the timeWink

MiniPopsMum2012 · 04/09/2012 06:14

Hey marbles waves

I just trying to settle Minipop back to sleep after 5:30 fees, although he's decided it's get up time, bah!

SO so so tired I feel sick & dizzy,. Arrgh!

TeaandHobnobs · 04/09/2012 06:43

Poor MiniPopsMum you must be extra exhausted after the move! Sad hope you can get a bit more sleep soon.

Hi marbles! Smile

Those apple donuts sound good susieloo Wink but no one should have to get up for the day at 4:15! Shock

Well I'm back in the room with BabyTea and unfortunately he has not continued his miracle sleep. We had three hours then two hours (although I didn't feed him after the two hours, just reswaddled him, put kicked off blankets back over him and popped dummy in, and he went straight back to sleep) but he is insisting I feed him now. I'm going to see if I can get him to go back to sleep again after this one so I can get a bit more shut eye!

He obviously spoiled me over the weekend - I was really struggling to stay awake at the 3:30am feed!

This morning's activities will be packing for holiday on Thursday - eeeeek!

missingmymarbles · 05/09/2012 01:28

I am so tired u could weep :( and have been awake since 12.30

Susieloo · 05/09/2012 04:23

I'm really feeling it tonight too marbles and did have a random crying episode earlier at about half one because babyloo wouldn't settle after his feed and I couldn't keep my eyes open and felt really desperate for sleepSad

I'm starting to feel that the sleep I do get is just not touching the sides so im waking up not feeling any different to before I went to sleep. I also feel like im not enjoying the baby as I should be because im so knackered!!!!

And there is a mahoosive spider in the bathroom and no one else hear to deal with it!!!

BabylonPI · 05/09/2012 13:54

Oh SusieLoo, Marbles Sad I do feel for you - it is so exhausting - but I promise it does get better. Smile

justcross · 05/09/2012 15:35

Just wandered on to this thread! To all you who are having sleepless nights, don't worry, it all goes so quickly. My DS is now 14 yo and my daughters 12 and 10. BF'd all of them for a year...none of them slept through til after I stopped feeding> they used to feed every 11/2 hours....it's knackering but so worth it.
If it's any use to anyone, I just used to pop Baby in bed, plop out boob and then go back to sleep, eventually I moved Babe back as I couldn't relax whilst worrying about rolling on to them!

Susieloo · 05/09/2012 16:39

Thank you just and babylon, it really does help to know that it gets betterSmile

missingmymarbles · 05/09/2012 18:58

That's how tired I was, I meant I was so tired I could weep, not u could weep lolGrin

Must have been something in the air Susie, DD just would not settle all night. Here's hoping tonight's better. Thanks for the reassurance just and babylon; you sort of know that, don't you? It's just hard going at the timeSmile

MiniPopsMum2012 · 05/09/2012 21:13

Hey everyone, we had such a good day yesterday, and last night there was even a 4 hour stint, but today Minipop has been a mini pain in the arse and hardly slept at all. Not sure why, bah!

It's almost impossible to unpack boxes, build flat pack furniture and contend with a screaming Minipop.

Managed to get him down finally after a few tears (from both of us, after daddy deserted us for peace & quiet of the pub, the git! ;)) after 7pm feed.

I also literally couldn't keep eyes open last night, so god knows what tonight will be like. Have not stopped since we moved it, that combined with a lack of food and sleep is making me feel unwell.

Also our cat had to be put down after 21 years (unsurprisingly, due to old age), so sad but knew it was going to happen :(

Any hoo, enough of the morning. Hope you're all good & wish you all sleepy babies tonight.

BabylonPI · 05/09/2012 22:29

Oh minipop, you have got a lot on Sad

Poor kitty too, 21 is a good age though, still very sad Sad

Wishing you all lots of sleepy babies tonight, mine is currently dreamfeeding as I write Grin

MiniPopsMum2012 · 05/09/2012 22:50

Sorry, stupid phone. That should have been moaning - enough of the moaning, not morning! Blush Grin

missingmymarbles · 06/09/2012 02:52

Ah minipopsmum, that's a rough day Sad

Missmarble cluster fed til about 9.30, then woke up when I put her in the crib at 10ish but she settled herself, more or less, and has just woken at 2.30 for a feed. She's now settled back in the crib!! That's 4 1/2 - 5 hours, depending how you look at it! Hopefully, she'll stay as such for another 4 1/2 - 5 hours!!
