MummyPigandDaddyPig · 16/06/2012 01:59

( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

i didn't like the injections either, Minipop didnt have any side effects apart from a slight raised temperature, which they gave Calpol for.

Minipop had a slightly better day, thanks everyone, and was a perfect sleeping baby during visit to doctors Confused typical..!!

He also slept four hours this evening, so DP did last feed of night, and I went to bed, however I decided to 'check' on them and am now doing midnight feed, doh!

susieloo DMP was weighed today - 10.4lbs - so he's put on about 2lb in 2 weeks..! Shock he is 12 weeks actual, 2 weeks corrected

BabylonPI · 22/08/2012 22:38

Baby Babylon woke at 2.40am last night and had a half hour feed - he was so hot which I think was a combo of his Injections and the weather - took him swimming again today though and he's been fine!!

Will see how he goes tonight!!

More sleepy dust being scattered Grin

MiniPopsMum2012 · 23/08/2012 01:25

Minipop had a good night Tuesday night, fed fine at 9:30am, then fine at 12:30pm, but promptly projectile vomited the whole feed back up across the lounge and over the sofa. :(

He fell asleep, and then stayed asleep bar a little wake up every hour or do for a tiny feed for and when I say tiny I mean 25ml in a feed instead of 100ml. And it's not like him to sleep quite so much.

spoke to hv who said if he vomited again to take to a&e. He didn't and although he wasn't himself. He woke up about 7pm and was a bit more alert/less sleepy.

He fed small amounts at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm last night. But just had to wake him for a feed at 1am.

I hate being so clueless at this, we really didn't know whether to take him to a&e or not, but decided not as he hadn't vomited again.

Going to settle him and then let him sleep as, long as he wants now, not sure if that's the right thing to do or not. Confused

Hope you are all faring a bit better than DMP xx

Susieloo · 23/08/2012 03:15

How worrying for you minipop you are having a rough time, it's so horrible when you don't know what to do, really hope things have settled for you and the baby is okay. It must be so frustrating for you and I wish you were getting more help from drs etc, you must be totally exhaustedSad

Sleepy dust may be working babylon babyloo had a really busy day with his family, lots of cuddles and general noise and so catnapped all day rather than sleptf, I thought I was in for a rough night because he was overtired and whilst he did grizzle for a few hours until 9.30 and he has just slept 9.30 until 2.30. That's new!! What's the betting it's a one off because of an unusual day and his raging cold. Just going to settle him now - I hope.

BabylonPI · 23/08/2012 03:34

My sleep dust has broken Sad

Currently on feed number 2 since bedtime at 9.30pm Hmm

I knew it was too good to be true!

Oh minipop how worrying for you Sad I hope baby minipop is feeling better soon x

Saritabean · 23/08/2012 03:37

Hi everyone!

Oh poor you minipopsmum... :(

It is soooo hard to know isn't it. It sounds like you're doing a brilliant job :o
I'm sure you've done the right things too- little feeds and more often. When did he last do a poo?! (he he he- my predictive text came up with pop instead of poo Wink!!!)

Periwinkle has been up again every 2.5hrs tonight :( she's been a lot more fussy last couple of days, and sleeping more yesterday. Now I know why maybe as she's just unleashed a huge poonami- first leak in ages, first night poo in ages... And it went on forever with loads of explosive wind too Blush!! I think she'd been storing it up a bit!

Hopefully now she'll go back off to sleep as wide awake now and won't carry on feeding... Seems to want to play!!! Hmm Mummy does not!!

Hope everyone else's night is going well...?!

Oooh and BTW, periwinkle had put on another 4oz in 4 days when we took her to her hosp appt- now 7lb11oz- woo hoo! (still diddy but getting bigger quicker finally!!!) very pleased :o

BabylonPI · 23/08/2012 10:23

Hey sarita, great news with the weight gain Grin sounds like you've got good milk going in there Wink

Baby Babylon is definitely having a growth spurt !!! Wink

TeaandHobnobs · 23/08/2012 20:19

How's minipop today? And sarita that is great news that periwinkle's weight gain seems to be getting better and better!

BabyTea had his third set of jabs today - he was not impressed about 3 jabs in one session! Poor Angry baby. He fell asleep as we left the GP, and has been alternately sleeping and feeding all afternoon, with one short period of jollyness. When he wakes up, he sort of looks around blearily trying to figure out where he is, then starts shrieking and crying, like he is scared! Sad I hope he will be ok tonight, I have the calpol to hand just in case.

He was nice to me last night and reverted to his 3 hourly feeds, after the nightmare of the past three nights - we'll see what tonight brings!

Susieloo · 23/08/2012 20:58

Hello everyone

Babyloo has his first jabs in two weeks and I'm dreading itSad

He's been in a grumpy grizly mood all day and is currently fast asleep on my shoulder but has been waking up the moment I put him down, he's got a really bunged up nose but the dr (six week check) today said he's fine but did offer saline drops, she didn't seen to rate them though so I said I'll see how he is in a few days, he's managing to feed ok but it's tiring him out.

It's the feed around four that im really struggling with, I physically can't keep my eyes open its horrible.

Hope everyone has a good nightSmile

BabylonPI · 23/08/2012 23:05

Oh TeaandHobnobs baby Babylon had his 3rd ones on Tuesday and he wasn't impressed at 3 needles either Sad

Seems ok though, no after effects really Smile

SusieLoo it's not that bad really.

Hoping for a full night here, but I know it isn't gonna happen Sad

Susieloo · 24/08/2012 02:19

Babyloo really struggling to breathe through his nose so didn't feed very well, him and dp both been snoring, tried to put him back down but he sounds so fed up and lying flat on your back can't be helping him so I've bought him downstairs to sleep up right on me until he's asleep, think he'll be awake again soon looking for a drink because he's breathing through his mouth, I don't mind this part of the night so much it's the next wake up I really struggle with. Hope everyone getting some lovely sleepSmile

TeaandHobnobs · 24/08/2012 04:18

Poor bunged up Babyloo Sad hope you can both get through the next couple of hours Smile

BabyTea slept for four hours! And without pre-bed bottles or drugging! I am amazed.

I have a big fat stye on my right eyelid though - the price of bad nights earlier this week, I think.

I'm off to John Lewis in the morning to collect the hand/footprint cast we had made of DS at 3 weeks old (it's only taken them 3 months to do it Hmm) I'm really excited, it should be a lovely reminder of how tiny he was! Smile

Does anyone have plans for the BH weekend? I think we will be doing some grandparent visiting, but not much else.

BabylonPI · 25/08/2012 02:04

Well I'm camping again Grin

It's pissing down and I'm cold but DCs are happy and that's all that matters Wink

BabylonPI · 25/08/2012 02:05

Hope babyloo is less bunged up tomorrow Smile

Susieloo · 25/08/2012 02:29

MorningSmile

My boobs woke me before babyloo woke up for a feed!! They were both about to explode!! Wish my milk supply would calm down.

He is still bunged up thank you but he doesn't seem as grumpy about it and he's feeding okay.

How's your eye tea? Mine are permanently red and sore at the moment, I must get some eye drops.

I used to love camping in the rain when I was younger, still do although I haven't been for a few years now, I've got loads of camping stuff but no tent!!

Hopefully ordering our cot tomorrow now I've measured the space we've got for it, I think babyloo will be happy in a cot he looks too big for his Moses basket and can't sleep like a star fish.

He's having a really good feed so I'm hoping he will sleep for another three hours, dp at work tomorrow so we have the day to ourselves then more family stuff Sunday and Monday, hoping for a lovely nap tomorrow but sods law the baby will have an awake day.

Hope you all get some lovely sleepSmile

TeaandHobnobs · 25/08/2012 03:57

Hope camping is a bit more bearable this time Babylon! Although shame bout the weather Sad

Thanks for asking about the eye susieloo - I tried to clear the stye this evening, but it's in a really annoying place right near the corner, so it's quite difficult to relieve the pressure in it. It's a bit better now but still quite uncomfortable.

Only 3 hours at the first stretch tonight, but that's ok Smile DS has just done a poosplosion which thankfully didn't get on his clothes. I was being lazy and feeding him lying down so I didn't have to get up, so he put paid to that! Grin

I was supposed to be getting some respite this weekend with DH doing a couple of feeds, but despite me expressing enough yesterday for a whole feed (which takes not insignificant effort), DH got a bit drunk after work and decided he needed to go straight to bed Hmm. He tried to go to sleep in this room, but I told him to bugger off - no way I'm sharing a bed with him when he's been drinking, it makes him more annoying than usual! (plus he'll take up the whole bed and even kicking the crap out of him to get him to move has no effect, he's practically comatose). Sigh - why can't he learn some self-control?!

Ok, back to sleepy time now...

Saritabean · 25/08/2012 05:58

Morning all! I was too tired to post last night, just managed to read and lurk! Stilll shattered- been up every 2.5 hrs again :(

And another big poo at 3 am..!

My parents have been up for a few days which is lovely- its been so great to see them with her- the smiles and interaction are cute!

BabylonPI · 25/08/2012 23:20

Well we've had massive feeds all day today, the last at about 10pm so hopefully will go through til daylight tomorrow Grin

Baby Babylon seems to be enjoying thus camping lark with lots of new faces cooing over him and an abundance of girls aged 12-15 wanting to be "in charge" of him Grin

All quite nice really!!

Susieloo · 26/08/2012 00:45

1st feed of the night after 3.5 hours ish, really sore eyes and I'm desperate to go back to sleep!!

Susieloo · 26/08/2012 03:57

Exploding boob again!! Had to get up and express about an hour ago, tried to dream feed but he wasn't awake enough.

Love the in charge babylon, my nephews get angry with each other when it's their turn to hold the babySmile

Should have changed babyloo before feeding him, hope he doesn't wake up too muchSmile.

There must be something in the air tea with regard to eyes, dp had a sore eye and was convinced there was something stuck in it and made such a fuss I told him he would have to go to a&e to see if they could get it out, turns out he has conjunctivitis and they gave him some drops so not big shard of glass stuck in there at allWink he came home a bit sheepish.

SilverSky · 26/08/2012 05:46

. Wink

BabylonPI · 26/08/2012 21:08

Wink right back atcha SilverSky Grin

MummyPigandDaddyPig · 26/08/2012 22:27

Evening all! Babypiglet still sleeping through, am still holding my breath every night thinking will this be the night she wakes up at 3 again... Shock
I know all about the exploding boobs though Susieloo, breastpads just cant cope in the mornings and bed smells of sour milk after 2 days...yuk.
Glad everyone is doing well! Sending lots of sleepy baby dust for tonight!

Susieloo · 26/08/2012 22:38

Babyloo now even more bunged up and has been cluster feeding for three hours and has now vommed twice because he's over feeding, he's still attached now, dp has been banished to sleep in the other room because he's been watching football and drinking all afternoon so he's uselessSad.

He's so tired but the moment I put him in his Moses basket he's wide awake, I hate nights like this, if he comes away from my boob he acts demented until he's back on its horrible. God I'm grumpySad

Hope everyone else having better nightsSmile

MiniPopsMum2012 · 26/08/2012 23:37

Sorry for lack of posts, I have been reading though. Tool Minipop to paediatric a&e on friday after a particularly bad night Thursday & projectile vomit incident

He's been given two different meds for reflux, but it turns out Dr has overdosed him on ranitidine.! She's prescribed him 25mls three times a day, but hospital said max does for him is 0.9mls three times a day....!!

We've been giving him the larger dose for nearly three weeks, no wonder he's in so much discomfort. :(

anyway, have refused to give him any medication at all over the weekend to give his little system a rest. No infacol, no ranitidine and no new meds either. He's not done too bad so far, and we even got two 4 hours sleeps last night.

He's been awake most of the day today, and is being a little imp again sleeping tonight (currently snoozing on my chest, naughty Minipop!), as only doing every 2 hours.

Let's see what tonight brings.

tea how's eye? Babylon how's camping? Susie how's babyloo getting on?
