Hey ladies, here's a shiny new thread for us to discuss, query, whinge about and rejoice our high-need bubs!

Pretty bad night last night, bleeding exhausted. Can see why so many of you co-sleep. We haven't gone down that route, but it's never looked so attractive...

Gawd, grizzly DS. Poor tooths. Hope you have had a decent night!

Tickle- don't worry!!! I'm ft with hn baby. It's hard in that the sleep deprivation is soo tough, but you will welcome the break (eventually) Its great to have tea/ lunch break, and time to yourself!! Good luck mummy- i'm there now, and am coping with it all, so try not to worry xo. Good luck!!!!

jan2011 · 19/03/2012 02:31

aw tickle...thinking of you. myfriend felt like that and then really liked being back.hope it goes well...

its 2.30am and dd has been up 2 hours don't think much intention of going back to sleep. im at wits end.... she just wants to suck on boob all night, currently in cot with dhs mobile blasting white noise in her ears, after which she'll cry to come to boob again. eyes r red with tiredness and big bags i look awful have done the past few weeks - pleeeeeeeeease i want sleep!!!
why did i arrange to do so much tomorro...

fazsaeed · 19/03/2012 05:06

Ds has woke up in an extremely good mood but im just too tired!
he's bouncing on the bed and trying to sing!

bigeyes · 19/03/2012 05:14

Wide awake dd just about back to

QueenKong · 19/03/2012 07:28

Good luck tickle! Thinking of you today x

JeewizzJen · 19/03/2012 07:47

Haven't caught up on all the thread but wanted to say I'm thinking of you too tickle , I hope it's all OK today.

SpannerPants · 19/03/2012 08:09

Good luck tickle! I'm going back in 2 weeks - I'm looking forward to it in a way although I know I'll miss DS terribly.

LittleWaveyLines · 19/03/2012 08:48

Urrgh..

DD woke every hour then was up at 5am. Now wants to be continually held but also wriggle, climb, scratch, whine....

buttonmoon78 · 19/03/2012 10:11

Tickle I hope today went ok. It is horrible going back to work, but I promise it does get easier. Sad

Jan2011 I've said it before and I'll say it again... Touche eclat (or the Aldi cheapie version!)

DS seems a little better today. He's not thrown up his last 2 milk feeds which is an improvement in itself. I think most of the junk on his chest seems to be going downwards now from the state of his nappies (sorry TMI!) And his night time sleeping seems to have improved along with the diminishing of the wheezing. Happy days all round!

fazsaeed · 19/03/2012 11:05

Hope today goes good tickle
X

TitaniaP · 19/03/2012 16:24

Hope you had a fab first day at work Tickle.

Its all a bit hit and miss here. He's got over the hideous grumpiness but sleep had gone to pot. Two steps forward one step back.

Managed to get DS in a reasonable approximation of a back carry with the wrap today. Meant I could do some housework! The downside is that I now want a new wrap and have discovered a FB group for buying and selling slings and wraps. It's very dangerous for the wallet!

SpannerPants · 19/03/2012 16:38

That Facebook group is deadly Titania - I've got 2 wraps and a rose and rebellion ssc now! I'm doing a baby wearing race for life in July so need to perfect my back carries by then,mi think DS will be too heavy for 5km in a front carry by then.

JeewizzJen · 19/03/2012 17:40

A sling Facebook page you say? Tell me more!!

SpannerPants · 19/03/2012 17:49

It's called something like slings and things FSOT - it's dangerous!

LittleWaveyLines · 19/03/2012 17:59

Erm I already have a borrowed didymos katja, an autumn blue indio, a gorgeous girasol light rainbow diamong weave, an ellaroo ring sling and a babyhawk mei tai.... oh and an oscha grad wrap on order.
I really don't need any more slings!! Grin

LittleWaveyLines · 19/03/2012 18:00

diamond not diamong!

LittleWaveyLines · 19/03/2012 18:03

I really think slings are a must with HN babies though - with my wraps I mostly do a double hammock back carry, but can also do a ruck, reinforced ruck, double rebozo shoulder to shoulder, secure high back carry, and a front wrap cross carry, a cross carry and a pocket cross carry...

Thank you ladies for your kind words. Just on the train now. First day was a full day of training so brain feels like it's about to explode. Not sure how I feel really. The day itself was okay. But I've missed DS more than I can say. I don't know whether the extra income is really worth more than being with him. But I know we need to save for our family's future and that would be almost impossible on one income.

I'm sure this is the dilemma all working mums feel. Working from home tomorrow so will see how that feels.

OP posts:
SpannerPants · 19/03/2012 18:39

DS is too wriggly when I try him in a double hammock but we've had some success with ruck tied in front, ruck under bum and a hip cross carry - I've just got a size 3 girasol shorty so I've been playing with it! I've got a gorgeous didymos Eva, pink and purple so probably a bit girly for DS but he doesnt care!

LittleWaveyLines · 19/03/2012 20:07

Aaawww tickle - I'm glad it went as well as could be expected - are you full time?

I'm dreading going back to work - no idea how DD will cope in a nursery - she only cope with her dad for a maximum of 2 hours!

REALLY no idea :(

Spanner - interesting that you find him too wriggly for a DH - I like it because I can pin her down on my back as quickly as if in a ruck, but then get it tighter with each pass so she really can't go anywhere! Rock solid!

My indio is a size 6, my rainbow is a 7, and the oscha I'm going to get will be a 4... (I'm a size 14-16 and hate tying in the tails, so a 6 is a bit tight for a double hammock over a winter fleece, but perfect for now, and the 4 for reinforced rucks in the summer!)

DP uses the mei tai and the ring sling lots. I use the ring sling for quick in and out of the car, shopping, or around the house, and I use the mei tai for quick-uppy-on-my-backs like when hanging the washing out - so they all get used!

a disastrous night here.... we met up with my family and the inlaws around 3. went bowling, then for dinner. only just back. it was a NIGHTMARE. the bowling was fine, dd had a dirty nappy and of course this is the one time i have ever forgotton wipes and mil makes a comment. then out for dinner - dd was having enough by then, just wanted home, cuddled, and bf properly not given bits of bottles and bf here and there as we do when out and about so she was getting so fed up and started teething and crying.

she cried the whole way through the meal - was passed around with everyone trying to settle her, and mil started giving her chips. she is 5.5 months, we have only started her on baby rice. its not the fact she was having chips i was more annoyed about, but the fact that dh kept telling her to stop and she kept laughing, doing her own thing and saying oh she loves them itl do her no harm oh shes really going for them (as if you wave chips in front of a baby of course they will grab them.) so dh and his mum had an argument and he ended up having to take dd off her. i just kept quiet. it gives me no confidence for the future that she will listen to us when we want to do things our own way.

anyway, im home, with a crying, over stimulated baby who is usually very sleepy/feeding by now. sighhh - when did life get so stressful.

LittleWaveyLines · 19/03/2012 21:35

Oh dear Jan, that doesn't sound good, and your MIL sounds like an idiot. Hopefully your DD will be tired enough to sleep soon - and give you a good night's sleep!

I must say I'm impressed you went out though! DD is 9 months next week, and we haven't dared stay out past 5pm yet!

Mampig · 19/03/2012 21:45

Jan, poor u having to deal with all that!! As if things aren't difficult enough!! Hope lo settles soon!

Ladies, I've posted on main forum for advice on this, but thought I'd share: ds started sucking in my whole boob todayHmm. He wanted a feed, but I don't know if he has forgotten how to latch or I'd he's messing!! I have to admit it is sooo funny, we were all in stitches watching- dh and kids included- but have any of u ever experienced this?!! He actually sucked it all in ( on both boobs) to the point of gaggingConfused. Very weird sensation, hope he's just playing, I'm not ready to give up yet!!!

LittleWaveyLines · 19/03/2012 21:59

Wow Mampig! Nope, not experienced that! Shock Confused [mind boggles emoticon]

I have had her miss the nipple entirely a few times though, when she's been trying to look at something else and feed at the same time, and get a pretty good latch on entirely the wrong part of my breast though - and strangely she seems to take in more breast when she does this! She has a bad habit of being a nipple feeder....

My boobs are still bigger than her head, so I would be very impressed if she sucked the whole thing in on me! Grin
