Hey ladies, here's a shiny new thread for us to discuss, query, whinge about and rejoice our high-need bubs!

Pretty bad night last night, bleeding exhausted. Can see why so many of you co-sleep. We haven't gone down that route, but it's never looked so attractive...

Gawd, grizzly DS. Poor tooths. Hope you have had a decent night!

OP posts:

Happy St Patrick's Day!!!!
Feeling very refreshed... No ds didn't sleep any better but...... Dh has taken all the kids to buy my mothers day prezzie, so I got a lie inGrinGrinGrin. Lovely shower and feeling like myself again- s'pose he's not bad really!!

We have fun day planned with kids today, and I'm gonna make sure we have lovely time- and maybe tire ds enough for big sleep tonightWink

jan2011 · 17/03/2012 15:57

thats great Mampig u deserved it :0

really bad day here...things from bad to worse with dh. we argued and so on his one weekend a month off i have been minding baby in tears by myself all day while he takes himself off. im overemotional at the minute as im tired and have a bad cold which is making me feel drained and miserable. he wants me to go to mil tonight for mothers day and theres no way i can face it. we went to his last year so i just want to see my mum tomorrow on the actual day and his mum will have to understand im just not feeling up to it...i haven;t seen them for ages, but the baby has, and if the truth be told i would have seen them this morning if dh and i hadn't have been arguing. nights are never a good time for me to go out at the minute, especially to somewhere like MILs.
however dh says if i don't go, he will not go to see my mum tomorrow. this should probably be on the AIBU thread! but i never promised to see his mum, i said if i manage anything it will be to see my mum (as we saw his last year) and i might not even be up to that cos i have had no sleep the last 2 weeks, not much support from him and just feel awful. mum totally understands. baby has been picking up that i just don't have the emotional/physical strength left today...i don't want her to be upset cos i am upset. its so hard.
anyway i hope everyone has lovely cuddles for mothers day tomorrow whatever you all end up doing!

jan2011 · 17/03/2012 15:58

making those fifteens sounds a good idea...
and the cheesecake...if only i had it in me, i would make those and invite my mum dad and the in laws round tomorrow, solve all the problems at once. unfortunately that is not going to happen, i feel like emigrating with the baby!

QueenKong · 17/03/2012 17:28

Oh jan, hugs to you. Your DH does sound a bit unreasonable to me - you're a mother too and deserve a bit of a break, not added stress. Hope he calms down and realises he has been a twonk.

Had an immense night last night, PrinceKong slept from 10-5. I reckon it's the illness though so am not getting too excited. He's still mega clingy, have resorted to tv to give me 15 minutes break. Baaaaad mummy.

jan2011 · 17/03/2012 17:32

oh thank you so much queen that meant a lot that someone sees my side! (being so sleep deprived everything gets so confusing and u end up not knowing whos right or wrong but going with instincts!)

that is great you got such a good night last night - ds must have known it was mothers day tomorrow! hopefully he will keep it up and hope he is on the mend soon. enjoy your time in front of the telly you need any break you can get :)

fazsaeed · 17/03/2012 17:34

Can I join?
I've got a high need baby(because of severe reflux)
He is 18 months and is being fed by a syringe straight into his mouth.
I have got a thread alll about it... I will get the link in a mo.
X

jan2011 · 17/03/2012 19:22

hi fazaseed
i just read your thread...i am sorry you are going through this. my baby had severe reflux but has grown out of it (or its being well controlled by the meds). i am not an expert by any means so don't have any advice really to give you but it sounds like you are doing all that you can and are a fantastic mum - you have the patience of a saint to be doing what you are doing every day with the feeding and i really hope things turn around soon. i wouldn't be happy either with my child not putting weight on and with them not eating enough, and the docs should be taking you seriously. hugs

fazsaeed · 17/03/2012 20:37

Thank you jan.
I think mn helps a lot as there are others in similar situations and we can all help each other x
Hugs

Hi everyone. I'm writing this from my new iPad - an early birthday/mothers day present from DP and DS Grin

DS was mega grumpy yesterday but woke up in a great mood. We had a family meal today so he didn't nap properly but behaved really well in the restaurant (apart from chewing on the table!) and looked very cute - we dressed him up in a shirt and trousers. He's really good at interacting with a crowd and seemed to enjoy being passed between various family members. He really responds to my mum and dad which is lovely, he always has massive smiles for them. They're going to be looking after him one day a week when I go back to work so I'm really pleased that he enjoys being with them.

No crawling here, I think he might be a bum shuffler as he can shuffle along the bath, and when he's sitting up he sort of rocks backwards and forwards (looks like he's humping the floor!) and looks like he's trying to move.

fazaseed I can't imagine what you're going through with your poor son. It must be awful seeing him in pain like that. Are you under regular follow up with paediatricians? I hope they have something else up their sleeve for him :(

Jan hope you have a good mothers day despite everything - I don't blame you for wanting to see your mum!

Right, I need to go and finish my ocado order - never thought food shopping could be exciting but I'm doing it on an app for the first time! Hope you all have a good night and happy mothers day for tomorrow!

fazsaeed · 17/03/2012 21:28

He's under Normal pead, gastric pead and dietician.
He's getting weighed on Tuesday
Thursday at dietician and Friday at hosp.

Jan I do hope you get to see your dm
Ohs don't really understand what it's like to be a mother to a sick child.
They even try pinning on us!
I hope you have a good mothers day ( hug )

Spannerpants
Congratulations in your iPad :)
I've got a pair of shoes and bath bomb lol
My dh isn't here ATM and ds is 18 months so my dm got me a present lol
X
Happy mothers day in advance to everyone
Thanks

LittleWaveyLines · 17/03/2012 21:43

Mother's Day bah humbug :( My DP asked Thursday if I wanted him to get me a mothers day card for my mother, so I yes, so he said, "right then 2 mothers day cards". I said "No, 3..."

"What?"
"Well you're getting me one as well, aren't you?"
"But you're not my mother!"
"......!"

Arrgh Face Palm!

So I'm not expecting too much tomorrow as my first Mothers Day as a Mother. I'm actually really hurt and upset by this... He says she's too young to appreciate it. I say, but I'm bloody well not! Hmph

Grump.

LittleWaveyLines · 17/03/2012 21:44

Might repost that in AIBU actually, then send him the link! Grin

On the upside though DD and I both had a 2 hour nap this afternoon, which made me feel a whole lot better, having been up with her since 5am.

fazsaeed · 17/03/2012 22:55

Littlewavylines
I've been there done that lol.
As my dh isn't here and wasn't last year I asked him why he didn't text me happy mothers day and the reply was your not my mother. I said from ds from you it was my first mothersdy.
Can't remember if he did though!
My dm did a lot last year for me, I got iPod touch, ugg flip flops, a dress, gladiators , teddy and a bath bomb :)
Very grateful.
Buy yourself something a few days after mothersday as it will be cheaper and you've got your 'gift' :)
Thanks a gift to all the mothers from their dc's

LittleWaveyLines · 17/03/2012 23:00

Good plan! Think I'll buy myself a nice Oscha sling I've been eyeing up - thanks for the idea Grin

fazsaeed · 17/03/2012 23:06

Your welcome
The fresh air will do you both good
Any excuse to go shopping x

SpannerPants · 18/03/2012 06:29

Argh where are the matchsticks.... Something DS ate yesterday has given him awful wind overnight - hes been grunting, straining and farting since 3 and awake since 5. He's now asleep in my chest and I'm wide awake!

I would normally catch up on sleep when he's napping but I've got friends coming over tomorrow so I've got to tidy and clean the house instead - argh!

LittleWaveyLines · 18/03/2012 06:39

You shouldn't be cleaning on Mother's Day - that's for other people to do!

Well DD has been awake since 5am again - I was able to ignore her till about 6am, until her relentless happy chirping and pulling/kicking at me got too much. She's too happy to be grumpy at though :)

jan2011 · 18/03/2012 07:42

good morning! happy mothers day to all

...littlewavey i hope u have a good time and make it special for yourself today go buy yourself a present and cuddle your baby somewhere nice. we r going to see my mum today (i think someone reminded dh that i am a mum too cos there was no mention of it all week apart from his and my mum and what we were doing for them and then yesterday he went from mean to nice, took the baby out to 'get a few things' and said i was a great mum!) we'll see.

fazaseed im glad your dm makes it special for you she sounds lovely

spanner is there no way you can meet your friends out and go for a nice walk instead if you feel obliged to clean for them? its a lovely day where i am!

if not im sure they won't mind - rest is more important (but i know that feeling) i hope you enjoy it anyway

im still exhausted and not feeling great but had a better night - she went to bed at half ten and then was up from 12 to 3 so was tiring but i got a few hours.

fazsaeed · 18/03/2012 09:14

Awww that's good you get to see your mum and it's about time he realised your a good mum. Hope you manage to nap on the way to your dm.
Happy mothers day to all.
We
Are going to the park today if it stays nice :)
X

Hi all! Happy Mothers Day, all u wonderful mummies of darling hn babies, and as we have a harder job than most other mums, coupled with major sleep deprivation, I'm giving out chocolate cake for mid morning tummies!!!

So my fun day out didn't work as planned as ds still woke as much, but dh had had a few beers yesterday, so he slept thru it all and the pressure was off! And dh in good tune today- kids brought me breakfast in bed, and flowersGrinGrin. And we've had a good chat and he's gonna take over the wakenings to see if it'll reduce them any!! Hope u all have much deserved lovely days xo

fazsaeed · 18/03/2012 11:27

Puddlejumper I highly recommend a front baby carrier for your dc. My ds was a pain at that age- recovering from
Meninigitis and he had (still has) severe reflux. We got a carrier free as I was a product tester ;) and I loved it. I got it when he was 10months old but I know it would of helped in the early days
X

SpannerPants · 18/03/2012 15:06

Well I got DS to sleep around 6.30 then DP got up with him so I could have a lie in until 8.30 for the first time since DS was born! I came downstairs to find him making me a bacon sandwich as well :)

I've got most of the tidying/cleaning done, just need to Hoover but I'm trapped under a napping DS so that's a good excuse not to for now!

You must be shattered puddlejumper - hope things get better soon x

LittleWaveyLines · 18/03/2012 15:14

Hugs for Puddlejumper - poor you and poor DS. Do you have a good sling? If not, you could get a sling library to lend one to you (most will post them out for a deposit as well).

Well I've done 2 loads of washing and the supermarket run (hideously busy!) on my first Mother's Day, and he did some DIY and has now gone sailing. I am sat here with a miraculously sleeping baby on me, and a tub of very ice premium ice cream - as I was doing the supermarket shop I decided to get me some nice stuff for my Mother's Day pressie!
