Hey ladies, here's a shiny new thread for us to discuss, query, whinge about and rejoice our high-need bubs!

Pretty bad night last night, bleeding exhausted. Can see why so many of you co-sleep. We haven't gone down that route, but it's never looked so attractive...

Gawd, grizzly DS. Poor tooths. Hope you have had a decent night!

dh has really upset me tonight. if i had no utterly no expectations of him to ever help me when im completely worn out then i would have no reason to be upset. the only time i ever actually get to sleep and he wakes me for something stupid after i tell him only wake me when she needs fed. i have not got to sleep for more than 2 hours for 2 weeks. i could actually kill him.

buttonmoon78 · 15/03/2012 22:00

Monster puke #4. How is he not dehydrated? I mean, I know he has poo like boulders but how is he not properly dehydrated?

That was his last sleeping bag and last muslin cloth and the umpteenth towel. I'm not sure we'll make it through til the morning without him wearing a pillowcase or something.

Fed fed fed up.

LWL you're not a crap mother. If you were all you'd have taught her is that crying = nothing. You've taught her that when she needs you you're there. \It will not always be so. One day she will surprise you by being independent and strong. And it will be because you've taught her that she can be so as you're always there to catch her when she needs you.

Now 'scuse me. I'm off to curl up in bed and cry until the next puke-a-thon.

TitaniaP · 15/03/2012 23:42

Ok I'm late to the commune but I make a mean curry (low fat at the mo, but it will help counteract the cheesecake) and I bring wine. Lots of wine. Can I join?
DS is also very cute if utterly destructive as well as clingy and grumpy.

So I've had a week of grumpy teething boy, with more drool than I imagined possible, plus a general clingy grumpiness that irritated me no end. He is now the proud owner of two bottom teeth. They're still small but they're sharp. I have yet to be bitten but I can feel them grazing.

Sleep has been getting better with consistently only 3 wakings or so a night since we moved him into his room. His room is at the back of the house and is quieter and darker. Although DH is now in our bed and I'm on the floor is DSs room. Not fair really but hey. DS also spends the first part of the night in his cot only coming in with me for the last part.

Last night we had the worst meltdown in recent memory. It took 1hr 45 to go to sleep. In the end I can only think that he was irritated by the olbas oil I'd put in a tissue to help his breathing as there was nothing else different to cause such a monumental screaming fit. He's generally so much better than he was though.

I have to admit that DH will be mostly led by me with the parenting thing, but then I deal with all the wakings. I think that might change as he gets older though. I could do with (a lot) more emotional support than I get and he does need the occasional reminder to play with DS, but for the most part he's pretty good.

I also am lucky to have met a group of like minded mums who co-sleep and baby wear (god I am a hippy aren't I?) 3 of them came for lunch yesterday and we had 4 adults and 4 babies all tucking into my food (with caramel cheesecake cups for desert for the adults) it was lovely. DS even managed to eat a bit of tomato and normally all veg is eyed with suspicion before ending up on the floor. It's nice to have a group who are doing similar things.

Button so sorry to hear about babybutton.

To everyone else who's having a rough time hugs.

SpannerPants · 16/03/2012 06:12

Argh crap night, am knackered as DS decided midnight was playtime and was up for 2hrs, then was really squirmy after that (cosleeping) and kept slapping my face/pulling my hair/head butting me in the nose!

Feeling sore and sorry for myself this morning :(

buttonmoon78 · 16/03/2012 07:07

Me too. He slept beautifully. From 5 til 6.45.

OO

TitaniaP · 16/03/2012 08:43

Must have been something in the air last night.
Yawn

SpannerPants · 16/03/2012 08:46

I've just figured out why he was so squirmy - he's just dine a massive poo which leaked out of the nappy at the front, back and down one leg! He's fast asleep now Grin

SpannerPants · 16/03/2012 08:47

Oops done not dine!

TitaniaP · 16/03/2012 09:32

We had one of those this morning too Spanner. Lovely my fave way to start the day clearing up poo.

DS is 9 months today. That's 9 months of little sleep... (but also means we started this thread about 5 months ago!)

buttonmoon78 · 16/03/2012 09:36

Oh and we've had one too. Not down the leg but def up the back. And my ds is asleep too! And my ds is 8m today. Yawn and double yawn Grin

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 16/03/2012 13:08

Right, sounds like its my turn to make the coffees then.

I have the energy to, because... Drum roll please... DS only woke up once last night!!! And DP somehow managed to latch DS on without really waking me up this morning, then took him downstairs for a few hours so I had six blissful hours of almost uninterrupted sleep. Mmmmm.

Sorry for those of you with more difficult nights. I'm sure it'll be my turn tonight.

buttonmoon78 · 16/03/2012 13:49

We've been back to the GP who says to continue with the inhaler when he sleeps. When? What is this word when...? And to take him back on Monday if he's no better. At least he's eating solids again now.

Am really Angry though. The place I've booked for ds1's party on the 25th has rubg to say that they've double booked. The other party in the same slot is a 'private' party. I can't do any of the other slots they have free that weekend and besides which all the invitations have gone out. So they're going to ring the other mum to ask if she minds us being there. Which she obv will as that's why she booked a private party surely?!

So I'm scuppered. And very very cross.

MissusTulip · 16/03/2012 14:28

stupid effing netbook ate my post. Bugger. Most of it was crap but still, I got time to write it without DS kicking off (whch he did everytime I went to post/email etc yesterday). He has been asleep for 2 1/2 hrs (thanks baby swimming class) and is now stretching and yup, he's awake. I'll try again later!

Mampig · 16/03/2012 17:23

Button, I'd be raging tooAngry! Back up plan???
Truth- am veryEnvy. Haven't had a 6 hr stretch in 9 months!!!

But babymampig crawled for first time today!!!! So I'm pinning my hopes on developmental leap!!! Bed time should be fun tonight!!

tickleme63 · 16/03/2012 17:47

Truth Yay! But also Envy Must have been bliss!

And yay BabyMampig Grin

My last day of maternity leave today :( :( :( Hubby now is taking over as main parent for a month and then it's nursery time. Very sad, but at least I'm part-time to start with. It's not quite sunk in though. Ugh. DH is currently rolling around the floor with DS, who is squealing away merrily in a way that he only does with his dad, so I know it will all be okay.

DS is now sort of on all fours, rocking back and forth, guessing it won't be long till he's on the move... :)

JeewizzJen · 16/03/2012 18:03

Oooh blimey, I've missed lots in the past few days! Can I come to the commune too please? I can bake a mean apple pie!

button sorry to hear about the milk challenge :(

Well done on all the crawlers - DS also started crawling yesterday! I'm now petrified of him crawling off the bed... at the moment just trying to keep a keen ear out for him moving a lot on the baby monitor.

We've had lots of nights of rubbish sleep - dunno if it's the run up to crawling that's been the culprit. Last night he was awake between 2 and 3 and was just merrily rolling around for ages and ages. He still woke about 4 other times during the night too. Ho hum.

Gotta dash... DS out of the bath and bawling for milk!

QueenKong · 16/03/2012 18:52

Any of you experienced mums (Mampig, Button) know anything about Roseola? Think DS may have it - high temp for 3 days, sore throat and runny nose. Thought he was better today but he has come up in a rash all over his trunk tonight. Any thoughts? He seems ok, temp is normal. He's a bit irritable and clingy (what's new huh?).

Mampig · 16/03/2012 19:40

Poor babyQueen! If the rash is small pink spots, then it sounds very like it! Good that temp back to normal now- just keep close eye if he deteriorates again you'd need to contact OOH, but keep giving calpol etc until it clears. It should leave his system in a few daysSmile. Hope he's better soonSmile.

QueenKong · 16/03/2012 19:59

Thanks Mampig. Yep, it's pink, tiny dots. Think he's ok, I actually thought he was much better today until the rash appeared but will keep an eye on him.

Mampig · 16/03/2012 21:32

Think the rash is a sign that it's leaving the system- coming out iyswim? Think most children get it at some point!!

MissusTulip · 16/03/2012 22:08

ok, trying again... Firstly - when you ladies speak of a 7pm bedtime... does dc actually go to sleep at 7pm (even briefly), or is it bedtime in the daily routine where you try to get dc to sleep? DS is not at all minded to go down for the night before 9.30pm! He has been getting better as he gets older (used to be closer to midnight+ ) but he's nearly 20 weeks and I'm geting fretty about whether I should be getting off my arse and doing more routine wise, self settling and the like. Gah, shouldn't read parenting magazines!

mmm lots of yummy stuff on this thread! I used to cook and bake Sad and this is making me itch to make something! DH has invited MIL over on Sunday for tea and scones (Hmm) and I might try making the scones, Fifteens and Mampig's cheesecake

Yay for crawling babies, well done! Boo for sicky babies, get well soon Baby button and baby Queen Sad

I have a bloody blocked duct now - I jinxed myself talking about it upthread. Feels like I'm being stabbed in the boob with a knitting needle. Not what I need right now. DH has just announced that he has a problem with our NI trip at the start of APril - a key staff member is leaving his business that week and he will have to cover. I hav no reserves for coping with this sort of thing and feel v stressed and angry at myself for feeling stressed and not coping (eg the idea of travelling alone with DS makes me feel sick). I am a proper wuss, aren't I?

Hope everyone gets some sleep, except you, Truth - I hope you get the same again as Last night! 6 hrs, good job Baby Truth Smile

LittleWaveyLines · 17/03/2012 07:05

Wow at all the crawling babies! DD has no interest - she just yells for me to move her/ get her the toy just out of reach.... I am her willing (mostly) slave! Grin

And WOW Truth!!

7pm bedtime - DD goes to sleep really easily - and as long as I stay with her doesn't properly wake up when she wants to feed... just makes noises with her eyes closed and if I feed her pretty quickly she goes back to sleep again. Trouble is she stirs about every 20mins until 11pm, then 12, then 2, 4, 5, 6, up at 6.30....

At 20 weeks I think I was keeping her up with me and putting her to bed when I went - she soon told me when that wasn't good for her so you'll know...

Well DD I think slept from 1ish to 5ish, but then was so starving (this is an almost 9 month old remember) that she had to feed continuously till 6am, when I decided it was time to get up.... gah

buttonmoon78 · 17/03/2012 08:21

QK mine have avoided that particular ailment so I'm no expert, sorry!

Well, sit down ladies... ds seemed to suddenly get a bit better early evening yesterday. He went down at 9 adn slept til 2.30. He then had a small bottle and slept til 5. He then after a quick pat and dummy reinsertion slept til 7! Grin I am a new woman!

LittleWaveyLines · 17/03/2012 08:43
Envy

No actually I'm really glad for you button! Grin

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 17/03/2012 09:33

Oh.
My.
God.

DS went for 5 hr 45m without a feed. This is the longest we have ever managed. He did wake in the middle & have a little cry, but a cuddle & shhhh did the trick.

Well done BabyButton and BabyTruth Grin

Missus - BabyTruth does tend to actually go to sleep between 6 and 7 and then sleep for 3-4 hours until 10.15ish. I'm luckier than the other ladies on here that I usually get my evening to myself Smile I do think s bedtime routine has helped, but we've never been particularly strict with it iyswim.
