to put tape over my nipples to stop 2 year old DS from BFing?

DS2 has just turned two and I am still BFing him. I have loved this experience and I also BF DS1 for 14 months. However, I am now starting to want my boobs back! DS2 constantly asks for 'more boobie MORE BOOBIE' and seems to want to feed even more now that he ever did (apart from when he was a newborn). He paws at me and pulls my top down and screams 'BOOOOOOOBIES' when we are public Blush (I wish I had called them something else now LOL).

I still do like feeding him at night and when he wakes up but I feel it's time to stop now. He obviously loves it though and I feel bad about stopping it if he still likes it. I have tried saying no to wind it down but he just shouts even more for it. So I am seriously thinking about taping them up or bandaging them and telling him they have run out of milk.

Would that make me a terrible mum? Any tips to cut down / stop BFing?

Haven't read thru all posts but my friend bf her daughter til 2.5yrs then wanted to stop. Unfortunately her daughter had other ideas!! However, my friend realised her little girl hated marmite, so she coated her nipples in marmite!!!! Said little girl didn't want boobie anymore!!! Worked in 2 or 3 days Wink

Thanks to those who posted, I have been away for a few days so have only just been able to sit down and read through everything. I realise now I should have posted this in BFing forum rather than AIBU- eek I hadn't expected a war to break out! Anyway, there are some good suggestions here. DS only really has milk at bedtime and when he wakes up, and most of the time he now doesn't get it at bedtime as DH puts him to bed. He just has times though when all he wants is the boob and it wears me out!

I am actually tempted by the mustard and marmite suggestions LOL. I will see how it goes for the next wee while and try to cut down the time he is feeding... :)

Wow. This thread is 14 years old ...

I feel like society has come on so much towards the acceptance of breastfeeding now. Breastfeeding has been portrayed as disgusting for the last 100 years or so, to the detriment of human health... and the financial gain of corporations. Google 'Nestlé's Infant Food marketing practices 1970' for more information on that. Bitty is an example of this ingrained belief in UK society that breastfeeding is disgusting. It is also an example of misogyny in popular culture.

Breastfeeding is the most beautiful and natural thing and it is so much better than bottle feeding. Bottle feeding is so unhealthy for an infant. That is not nice to hear if you have a medical condition that means you can't breastfeed, but lots of things aren't nice to hear but are true. The longer you breastfeed, the more extensive the health benefits. So keep on breastfeeding for as long as you can.

Human babies naturally wean between 2-7, so it's very natural for it to last that long.

I ended up on this ancient thread because I wanted to find ways to stop my 2 year old breastfeeding at night.. was thinking some kind of tape...
